Call Da Vinci has BRC Sires' Produce odds slashed after Ipswich win on Wednesday
Bookmakers have slashed the odds of gelding Call Da Vinci to win next week's Group 2 BRC Sires' Produce Stakes from $100 to $26 following his gutsy victory in the Sacred Elixir 2YO handicap (1350m) at Ipswich on Wednesday.
The Bevan Laming-trained Call Da Vinci ($4.20) wore down $1.90 favourite Navy Pilot, who overraced early and felt the strain of the 60kg topweight in the straight to finish runner-up, ahead of North Pole ($4.20), in the seven-horse race on a Heavy 8 track.

'It was a good ride,' co-trainer Richard Laming said of apprentice Jaden Lloyd's steer in the 1350m race, which was shifted from the Sunshine Coast to Ipswich due to poor track conditions.
'It wasn't our plan but in hindsight it was good that the horse could sit off the speed, peel out and really put them away like he did.
'It was very good to see him be strong through the line like he was there today.'
The Hawkes team's colt Gallo Nero is the $4 favourite for the $1m BRC Sires' Produce Stakes (1400m) on Saturday week at Eagle Farm.
Aerodrome ($6), Grafterburners ($8), Beksar and Cool Archie (both $11) are on the next line of betting.
Call Da Vinci franked the form out of the $300,000 Group 2 Spirit of Boom Classic (1200m) won by Cool Archie, who defeated classy colt Gallo Nero and fellow Queensland star sprinter Grafterburners.

He finished runner-up to the Chris and Corey Munce-trained Cool Archie in a 2YO maiden at Doomben on a heavy track on April 16.
'Well he keeps stepping up too – he's now a Listed winner and a Group 2 winner,' Laming said about Cool Archie.
'It's all strong form so it's good heading to where we're heading (the BTC Sires Produce).
'They had me on the radio this morning and I was nearly going to say 'we should be backing him (Call Da Vinci) now just in case he does win (in Ipswich)'.
'I'm pretty sure he won't be one hundreds. But he's got to pull up OK and it's only 10 days away.
'He's only a two-year-old and there's plenty of water to go under the bridge. He'll go back to the farm and be back in town next week for the water-walker and a bit of beach work.'
Bevan Laming also trained Call Da Vinci's mum Calzini, who was sired by Shamus Award.
Lloyd said Call Da Vinci had developed a habit of starting his races slowly but it didn't stop him on Wednesday against Ciaron Maher's well-backed favourite Navy Pilot.
'I didn't panic because I know the ability the horse has,' Lloyd said.
'I was quite happy to be on the back of the favourite because he (Call Da Vinci) is a better horse if he has something to chase.
'He's a tough horse. He's only small but he's very tenacious.'

REGAL PROBLEM (6) ran third to Hidden Motive on debut. LORD VETTORI (4) could be saved for another venue on another day given the draw. In his absence, all roads lead to CURRUMBIN ALLEY (1) who is bred to be a miler, maybe even more, so all credit to the son of Vancouver (out of a Savabeel mare) for his half-length second at Gunnedah over 1250m. Drawn 1, 1300m and every extra metre assists. GRANDINI (10) was passed late first-up by Zelestial who might be above average. SPEEDY HENRY (2) has two wins and a third from four starts. He was $3 in a TAB Highway on April 26 at Randwick and had excuses for what was still a pretty creditable run. He's not an outright 'good thing' here but it would be hard to make a case for something to beat him. The one most likely, if at all, is the Brett Robb-trained WASTED DAYS (5) who might well go around later in the day as an emergency (Race 6). INVASIVE (1) has come back really well. ZELESTIAL (10) came to Australia with two runs in Ireland on her C.V, the first was a fifth to subsequent Group 3 winner Givemethebeatboys. The Lyle Chandler-trained daughter of Zoustar trialled like a bomb before her winning debut at Tamworth where she got a great ride. Scratched from Taree on Thursday to run here. WILLINGA KARISMA (1) has the home ground advantage. She's never been closer to a win. MISSY MOSS (9) has a bad draw but Bullock will help with that. PRESSNELL (2) is a genuinely talented son of Press Statement, hence the name, think Max. This big, bold gelding has a win, a second and two fifths from his four starts. This was already a very winnable race for the Mack Griffith-trained galloper but his chances went up when he drew 2 and Bullock booked. SORRENTO PALACE (6) aims to, and can, snap a sequence of three consecutive seconds, keeping in mind that the last two were by very narrow margins indeed. Bet: Pressnell to win, quinella 2, 6, box trifecta 2, 6, 11, 7 CUMNOCK (11) has the lowest Benchmark rating in this race; he's on 60, the ones at the top are both on 77. That said, he is a last start winner on the move. Was to run in the Highway on Saturday but is way down the list so run here instead where he is two from two at the track and trip. IRON HAT (1) has won six races with 12 placings. Famously unlucky at times, the Jan Bowen-trained chestnut has mixed and matched it in better races than this. ZAKOR (4) is good enough to win most country sprints; this one included. RHYTHM IS A DANCER (2) has won seven races in 27 starts with eight placings which is a fine achievement on his, and trainer Brett Cavanough's, behalf. Among those wins are a Country Cup at Scone and a Spring Cup at Tamworth where he beat Russley Crown each time as it happens. Walked in at Inverell last start. This is harder if only for the presence of another good, old trusty Scone resident namely THE DRAMATIST (1). That said, he needs things to pan out for him but when they do, he's city class.

Kimochi heads into unknown for Queensland Group 1 double shot

Best laid plans have been tweaked with the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup rescheduled to Saturday after being one of the races washed out last Saturday when jockeys complained of poor visibility. But Warwick Farm trainer Portelli said Kimochi will still race in the Kingsford Smith on Saturday as a pipe-opener to the Stradbroke seven days later. He admits the seven-day back-up is a step into the unknown for Kimochi, but feels it could even suit her. • $8000 filly who 'walks like a duck' spices up Stradbroke field 'She will run on Saturday, it's a Group 1 race, and I couldn't go to the 1400(m) of the Stradbroke with her straight away given she has had a big gap between runs,' Portelli said. Recovering Rothfire is some chance of conjuring a Stradbroke Handicap 'miracle' after improving 'enormously' when a foot infection broke. 'Rothfire has improved enormously, he was swimming this morning,' Heathcote told Racenet. 'The infection was tracked to a coronet band (soft, fleshy area at the top of the hoof where the hoof wall grows) and it (the infection) broke out. 'He's not 100 per cent, but improved enormously when this happened. 'It was a miracle that he raced on earlier in his career after sesamoid fractures and surgery. 'He now needs another miracle to make the race. 'He will not run unless 100 per cent sound. 'I am still happy with his fitness levels.' Heathcote said Rothfire would still need to pass vet and stewards checks but if he continued to improve in the next 48 hours, he was a chance to take his place in the Group 1 Stradbroke on Saturday week.
