Ipswich Town transfer rumour: Brentford eye Hutchinson as possible Mbeumo replacement
Brentford are considering Ipswich Town's Omari Hutchinson as a possible replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
After helping the Blues gain Championship promotion while on loan from Chelsea, the versatile attacker signed in a club record £18m + add-ons deal last summer and subsequently contributed three goals and two assists in his debut Premier League campaign.

The 22-year-old, who reportedly has a £35m relegation release clause, recently played a starring role for England in their victorious European Under-21 Championship campaign and has been linked to a string of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.
Now, Romano states that Brentford are 'showing initial interest' in Hutchinson as a possible replacement for right-winger Mbeumo - the latter reportedly close to a £60m switch to Manchester United - but that 'no club to club talks' have taken place.
Speaking exclusively to the EADT and Ipswich Star in early June, Town chairman Mark Ashton said: "We haven't got to sell a multitude of players, but one or two players will be traded out to give ourselves that headroom and the ability to move forward.'

However, in an email circulated by minority owner Brett Johnson recently, which aimed to bring fresh investment to the club, it was stated: "Up to £100m+ in player sale proceeds and £56m in parachute payments expected this summer."
The only player Town have received a fee for so far this transfer window is striker Liam Delap, last season's 12-goal top scorer joining Chelsea after they triggered a £30m relegation release clause.
STU'S VERDICT
Judging by Ashton's comments about 'one or two players being traded out', it would suggest there is one more major departure to come this summer and Hutchinson is the prime candidate.

Having had a taste of the Premier League, I get the feeling he'd like to be back there. This is a player who, let's not forget, declared he 'wanted to be one of the best players in the world' full 18 months ago.
First instinct was to think that £35m is a lot for someone who's had one Premier League season in a relegated side, but that sort of money, as ridiculous as it sounds, isn't huge anymore. Brentford will have crunched the data and seen that they could buy someone with a super high ceiling.
Based on no inside info at this stage, I'm bracing myself for a departure.

Parish confirms Palace will appeal over Europa League demotion
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed his club will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after being demoted from the Europa League. Palace qualified for the Europa League with a shock FA Cup final win over Manchester City in May. Advertisement But UEFA, European football's governing body, ruled Palace should drop down to the Conference League over a conflict of interest involving the club's former director John Textor, who also part-owns French side Lyon. Textor stepped away from Palace at the start of July, but the ownership issue relates to the end of last season when the south London team secured a maiden European appearance by winning the first major trophy in their history. UEFA's ruling would mean Nottingham Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League, take Palace's place in the Europa League, but Parish has signalled his intent to contest the decision. "We are still fighting," Parish told the The Rest is Football podcast. "There's an appeal process, so we go to CAS which is the court for arbitration and, you know, we're very hopeful. We think we've got great legal arguments. Advertisement "We don't think this is the right decision by any means. We know unequivocally that John didn't have decisive influence over the club. "We know we proved that beyond all reasonable doubt because it's a fact." UEFA rules say that no owner or co-owner can have a controlling interest in more than one club competing in the same European competition during the same season. Palace's position throughout has been that Textor did not have a sufficiently controlling role for the club to fall foul of the regulations. But the deadline for shareholders to divest their interest in a club, or in some other way to alter their ownership structure, in order to comply with the regulations was March 1. smg/ea

Time Finance appoints new head of operations in asset finance team
UK-based specialist lender Time Finance has appointed Bethan Holliday as the new head of operations for its asset finance team. The move aligns with the independent lender's goal to expand its reach to more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with business finance and increase its lending book to £300m ($401.7m). Holliday brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services, having previously held a senior role at Ultimate Finance. In her new position, she will oversee the operations of the asset finance team, focusing on reviewing systems and optimising processes to enhance the efficiency of business finance for SMEs. Time Finance said that her role is key in ensuring top-tier service to brokers, a core component of the lender's growth strategy and its £300m lending target. Time Finance's asset finance managing director Steve Nichols said: 'I am thrilled Bethan has decided to join Time Finance. Her arrival is at a key time for the business as we embark on our new three-year strategic plan whilst continuing to deliver sustainable growth. 'Bethan will play a key role in making the business more efficient, helping to develop our automation capabilities with the rest of the leadership team, as we strive to offer consistently great service to our brokers, customers, and suppliers.' Speaking on her appointment, Holliday added: 'I am excited to join Time Finance as the business accelerates its growth journey. Having long regarded Time Finance as a challenger and innovator in this industry, to join the team was an opportunity I could not turn down.' Time Finance reported a record gross lending book of £217m for the financial year ending 31 May 2025, marking its 16th consecutive quarter of growth. The company attributed its success to a focus on secured, own-book lending to UK businesses, which led to an 8% increase in lending volumes. Invoice finance and asset finance accounted for more than 90% of new lending volume and now make up 83% of the total lending book. For the FY24/25, Time Finance's revenue increased by 11% to £37m while profit before tax rose by 34% to £7.9m. The profit before tax margin also improved by 300 basis points to 21%, with net tangible assets growing by 14% to £44.1m. Holliday's appointment also follows recent additions to Time Finance's team, including Terry Wolfendale as head of sales and Paul Rice as business development manager, to bolster its invoice finance offering. Petrovic completes Bournemouth move
New Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic says he wants to "play at the best level" after completing a £25m move to the club. The 25-year-old joins from Chelsea on a five-year-deal and will link up with the squad before their pre-season tour in the United States. Advertisement Petrovic has made 23 Premier League appearances but felt out of favour at the Blues and spent last season on loan at Strasbourg. The Serbia international had an impressive campaign with the Ligue 1 side, helping them to finish seventh and secure their place in the Uefa Conference League while also being named as the club's player of the season. "I'm really happy to be here. I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level," he told club media. "Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it. I want to help the team get the results, improve every day and be a better player." Advertisement Bournemouth's president of football operations Tiago Pinto added: "The opportunity to sign a player of his calibre in the market was one we had to take, particularly given how vital the position of a goalkeeper is. "We have been looking for the right talent to invest in within this area of the pitch and Djordje has very impressive qualities, as well as a lot of experience for someone who is still young." Petrovic replaces Kepa Arrizabalaga, who spent last season with the Cherries on loan from Chelsea, but switched to Arsenal at the start of July when his £5m release clause was triggered.
