Patriots Twitter reacts to Terry McLaurin reportedly requesting trade
Washington Commanders All-Pro wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been a dream trade target for the New England Patriots throughout the offseason. But few expected contract negotiations between McLaurin and the Commanders to break down to the point of a Patriots trade even being a possibility. On Thursday, NFL insider Jordan Schultz dropped a report that reminded NFL fans that there is no such thing as a sure thing in the NFL. McLaurin, who is an apparent hold-in at training camp, reportedly requested a trade from the Commanders. The decision comes with McLaurin playing in the final year of his contract and stalled negotiations between the two sides. The Patriots currently have 11 wide receivers on their roster. Stefon Diggs, who is coming off a torn ACL, is expected to be their top receiving option. Demario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and rookie Kyle Williams have also been top targets in training camp. Adding an elite player like McLaurin to the mix could give the Patriots one of the best receiving corps in the league. He has 1,000-plus receiving yards in his last five straight seasons, and he served as star quarterback Jayden Daniels' favorite receiving target in his rookie year. The veteran wideout finished the 2024 season with 82 catches for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns. Rodgers finding Metcalf during team drills, one-on-ones get intense at Steelers training camp
Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf continued building chemistry during Steelers training camp on Thursday. Rodgers found Metcalf several times during team drills. Metcalf himself made a couple of really athletic plays. This was also one of the more physical practices so far - especially during one-on-one competition drills between receivers and defensive backs. It led to a couple of scuffles - including a few punches thrown between Metcalf and new safety Chuck Clark. Metcalf said after practice, heightened competition with this defense is only going to help. 'I mean, I like going against competitive people and they are a group of competitive people from the D-line to the linebackers to the DBs, like from the safeties to the corners. Everybody's talking, everybody's being physical at the point of the tag and that's what I can appreciate going against these guys,' said Metcalf. Raiders defensive line looks to prove itself after release of Christian Wilkins
HENDERSON, Nev. — Christian Wilkins' expected impact on the Raiders' defensive line was in question long before he was shockingly released last week , which if nothing else provided clarity on what kind of front Las Vegas can take into the season. Jonah Laulu has showed some promise he could take over Wilkins' spot at tackle next to Adam Butler, who comes off a career season. Maxx Crosby is an elite edge rusher, and Malcolm Koonce on the other side has shown the ability to disrupt opposing passing games.
