Try saving natural teeth at allcost, says top dental expert
Nagpur: "Your natural teeth are priceless, preserve them as long as possible," said Dr HS Grover, national president of Indian Society of Periodontology (ISP), at Integrate 2025 — a two-day national-level conference held at Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College and Research Centre in Nagpur this weekend.
The conference was organised by ISP Nagpur Study Group in association with Indian Dental Association (IDA) Nagpur branch.
Addressing over 200 dental students, practitioners, and senior specialists from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and other states, Dr Grover said, "While dental implants revolutionised treatments, the first and foremost priority of every dentist should be to help patients retain natural teeth.
No artificial substitute can match the function and feel of your own dentition,". He stressed the need for meticulous planning and execution while using implants.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of ISP national secretary Dr Ashish Jain, renowned periodontist Dr Nitin Dani, RDDC dean Dr Abhay Kolte, vice-president Dr Mangesh Phadnaik, and senior members including Dr RS Shenoi, Dr Tushar Shrirao (president, ISP Nagpur), and Dr Vaibhav Karemore (secretary, ISP Nagpur).

Home with side-by-side toilet has buyers kicking up a stink
Meghan Trainor raised plenty of eyebrows when she revealed her home with husband Daryl Sabara has a rather unusual feature: two toilets in the bathroom located directly next to each other. The 'All About That Bass' singer made the revelation on an episode of Nicole Byer's podcast Why Won't You Date Me? in 2021, claiming the couple 'pee at the same time a lot.' 'It's gonna be a little different, but it's a tighter bathroom area, so we will be close. Knees to knees. And that's better. I want to see him,' she said at the time. While certainly a unique way to bond, Trainor's bathroom habits aren't, perhaps, that unusual if a recent sale listing in Burns, Oregon is anything to go by. The log cabin-style home comes with two side-by-side toilets, each with their own loo roll. RELATED 'Just evil': Share house's shock offer to vulnerable renter Bathroom in the kitchen a shock surprise Aus's worst neighbours exposed It is like a public bathroom stall, but taken one step further, as no dividing wall separates the toilets from each other. In lieu of traditional tiles, the floor is covered in plush salmon carpet – the shade presumably chosen to hide a world of sins. The toilets look onto a matching pair of his-and-hers sinks, placed below a large mirror. Unsurprisingly, the bathroom has already attracted attention on social media, with users torn over the unusual layout. 'I can't even look my husband in the eye after he comes out of a regular bathroom,' one person commented on reddit. Another person wrote: 'It's a choice. Not one I'd make, but some couples have 'comfort' levels way beyond mine'. 'Having two toilets side-by-side does nothing. Literally NO ONE wants to to sh*t right next to someone else. The point of having separate bowls is in case two people need to go at the same time, or don't want to share a toilet area for personal hygiene reasons. This is worse than a public bathroom, which at least has stalls,' a third wrote. The house is on the market for $US385,000 ($594,000) following a recent price cut. Unusual bathrooms strike chord with buyers and tenants While side-by-side toilets may seem a little out there, it's not the strangest bathroom setting to have caught national – and sometimes global – attention. In 2020, an old terrace at Port Melbourne tested how far renters would go for an inner city lifestyle, with the kitchen and bathroom sharing a space. Advertised at $400 a week, tenants could live at the two-bedroom property, where the only shower is right beside the stove and the toilet was found outside in the paved courtyard. It must have been the year for unusual bathroom listings with a separate inner Sydney studio offering tenants a room with a different kind of view. The apartment on Bourke St appeared to seamlessly blends the shower and toilet with the kitchen. Recently renovated, the studio had done away with bathroom walls and instead opens the space up with glass. While the glass walls allowed light to flow into the small home, it also meant the toilet could be admired from the comfort of the bed. Meanwhile, an Aussie share house listing sent shudders over what renters may be tolerating in a tight market only last year. The rental listed on a share house group social media site, claimed: 'rent includes furnished private room and bathroom'. However, the ad raised some serious questions when the only bathroom pictured was a portaloo. The listing also stated that there was no access to the kitchen. Social media was having none of it with one of the images of an outdoor portaloo seeing the listing flagged on popular Reddit forum sh*trentals. 'Private bathroom or portaloo? Came across this listing with a private bathroom … and photos of a portaloo,' a Redditor said. 'Also, photos of a kitchen that you don't have access to! Preying on the international student community in the area undoubtedly.'

HMRC issues warning as thousands urged to 'withdraw' pension after new rule change
The rule change has prompted many savers to reconsider their withdrawal strategies. Under current rules, once people hit the age of 55, they're entitled to take out 25 per cent of their pot tax-free UK households are currently grappling with soaring living costs and political instability. meaning many are left increasingly tapping into their pension savings ahead of time. It comes as figures from HMRC have revealed that a staggering £2.2billion was withdrawn last year. The data shows a notable rise in activity among those aged 55 to 56, with 120,000 making taxable withdrawals in 2023-24. This equates to an 18 per cent rise over the last five years. Under the existing regulations, individuals can access 25 per cent of their pension pot tax-free once they reach 55, up to a maximum of £268,275. Withdrawals above this limit are taxed as income, as reported by the Mirror. Jason Hollands of Bestinvest weighed in on the situation, noting: "Demographic patterns will be a factor. But other possible influences are a rise in business exits and second property disposals ahead of the election enabling more people to take early retirement." Daniel Hough from RBC Brewin Dolphin, looking at it from a wealth management angle, remarked: "Retirement is lasting longer for people – by accessing their pensions at 55, there will be more pressure on providing a sustainable income throughout retirement, however long it may last." Experts warn of risks as numerous savers tap into pensions before retirement, with Andrew Tricker of Lubbock Fine Wealth Management stating, "The large number of savers withdrawing from their pensions before actually retiring is very concerning. Many of them are withdrawing too much – and too early." Financial specialists caution that savers might overspend to avoid inheritance tax due to new Labour Party regulations. Kate Smith of Aegon said, "The expectation is that those individuals with large estates will access their pensions earlier to avoid inheritance tax, and later life tax planning will become increasingly important." The plans have caused "concern and some confusion" for those nearing retirement, according to Mr Hough. Chancellor Rachel Reeves had announced the end of inheritance tax reliefs on pension savings by 2027, prompting many to reassess their pension drawdown strategies, as Britons can currently pass on pension wealth tax-free. Steelers reignite trade talks with Dolphins on TE Jonnu Smith
After an initial report on Tuesday that Pittsburgh trade talks for Miami tight end Jonnu Smith had cooled, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that circumstances had changed on Tuesday evening. According to Schefter's sources, a trade for the Dolphins' Smith is still alive in Pittsburgh. After another development on Tuesday in the Steel City, Pittsburgh may have some added urgency to get a deal for Smith done, too. Advertisement Pittsburgh tight end Donald Parham Jr. suffered a torn Achilles during Tuesday's OTAs. The former Chargers tight end has appeared in 47 career games and was expected to factor in for reps alongside Darnell Washington behind Pat Freiermuth. Now, the franchise has much more incentive to address that room in a hurry. Smith is entering the final year of a two-year, $8.4 million contract that he signed with Miami in March of 2024. The 6-foot-3, 248-pound tight end is also on the heels of a career year. The eight-year pro caught 88 passes for 884 yards and eight touchdowns last season. Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said on Tuesday that he felt Smith wanted to be in Miami. Advertisement But, the likelihood of that could obviously change if the Steelers could put together a package that the Dolphins' front office deems is too good to pass up on.
