'Just after Christmas, I was sent a couple of unsolicited remixes of Songs of a Lost World tracks and I really loved them,' says Cure frontman Robert Smith. 'The Cure has a colorful history with all kinds of dance music, and I was curious as to how the whole album would sound entirely reinterpreted by others. This curiosity resulted in a fabulous trip through all eight songs by 24 wonderful artists and remixers and is way beyond anything I could have hoped for. Giving our recording royalties from the project to War Child helps make Mixes of a Lost World an even more special release.'
The cover art for the album, based on the 1976 Janez Pirnat sculpture Bagatelle, has also been reworked by longtime collaborator Andy Vella.

Oakley Factory Team's Flesh Silhouette Just Won't Stop Evolving — Introducing the Flesh Warp

Marking the second installment of its SS25 collection,Oakley Factory Teamis introducing a new evolution of its alien-likeFleshsilhouette, theFlesh Warp. Debuting in two key colorways,Brain DeadandOakleyshow that they aren't done remixing their favorite model, now manifesting with an asymmetrical lacing system, a custom-built outsole, and a sculpted, full-leather upper. To herald the new model, Oakley Factory Team starts with a classic greyscale duo, offering 'Vaporous Gray' in a light neutral leather and 'Black/White,' an all-black silhouette contrasted with the Oakley logo. While representing perhaps the most sneaker-geared design from the collaborators via the laces, leather upper, and stitched overlays, it also sets itself far from tradition with its futuristic shape and bold asymmetry. The final result evokes high-performance design found in specialty equipment for biking and football, most notably in the diagonally placed lacing system. In conjunction with the updated model, the collaborators reprise the original Flesh with full-grain leather, hairy suede, and translucent Orbital tooling. The Full Grain Leather Flesh is offered in 'Lucent White,' while the Hairy Suede Flesh is offered in 'Ganache/Burgundy' and in 'Sand/Blue,' and lastly, the Orbital Flesh arrives in 'Ghost Gray.' Grateful Dead legend reunites with Sammy Hagar in Las Vegas

Two Bay Area rock icons reunited for a surprise performance in Nevada this week. Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir joined former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar during a Las Vegas concert on Wednesday, May 7. The two performed the 1973 song 'Bad Motor Scooter,' which Hagar performed in his pre-Van Halen days with his former band, Montrose. The Salinas-born singer then took to social media to thank Weir for his time. 'Bob is fearless. He's always willing to take chances with music of any kind,' Hagar wrote in an Instagram post shared on Thursday, May 8. 'This was a blast.' The post was accompanied by videos and photos of the two rockers rehearsing backstage and then performing together in front of the crowd. It ends with a clip of them backstage after the show, where Hagar says, 'I hope he makes it to rehearsal tomorrow,' referring to Weir who is right beside him laughing. The Red Rocker also shared a separate post containing two photos of them onstage, explaining in the caption that 'Bad Motor Scooter' was the first song he ever wrote. Hagar is currently wrapping up his Best of All Worlds residency at the Park MGM, which began on April 30 and is set to run through May 17. Meanwhile, Weir was in the desert city to resume his Grateful Dead offshoot Dead & Company's residency at the Sphere, which is scheduled to conclude on the same day as Hagar's stint. Weir and Hagar previously performed together in 2023 for the Acoustic-4-A-Cure benefit concert at the Fillmore in San Francisco alongside guests such as folk singer and longtime San Mateo County resident Joan Baez, blues guitarist Taj Mahal, Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and singer-songwriter Chirs Isaak. The two were photographed together backstage at the Pollstar Awards, hosted at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Weir was in attendance with his Dead & Company bandmate John Mayer to accept the award for residency of the year for their stint at the Sphere, while Nicks was inducted into Pollstar's Live Hall of Fame.

Get Deftones Tickets Here Now, Moreno's mix of 'Warsong' has been released, with the Deftones frontman stating, 'I chose 'Warsong' to remix as it's one of those slow-building, brooding musical pieces that have always drawn me into The Cure's music.' He added, 'My idea with this remix was to strip it back slightly of its organic instrumentation and bring in ridged, mechanical percussion and some down-pitched vocals aimed to bring forth the cold/dystopic feel of the song while maintaining the core beauty of what existed.' Remixes by Moreno ('Warchild'), Mogwai ('Endsong'), and 65daysofstatic ('All I Ever Am') only appear on the 3LP or 3CD deluxe editions of Mixes of a Lost World. Remixes by Four Tet ('Alone'), Paul Oakenfold ('I Can Never Say Goodbye'), Orbital ('Endsong'), and others appear on the standard 2LP or 2CD editions, as well as the deluxe versions. Pre-orders are available here. Deftones recently completed a winter/spring North American tour with The Mars Volta, and will embark on a late summer leg with Phantogram and IDLES on select dates beginning August 22nd in Vancouver (pick up tickets here). Amidst that run, Deftones will play two stadium shows with System of a Down in Toronto on September 3rd and 5th. Listen to Chino Moreno's remix of The Cure's 'Warsong' below.
