Former Glasgow Lord Provost admits stalking ex-partner
Braat has represented the Anderston/City/Yorkhill ward since 2007 and is subject to an investigation by Scottish Labour.
Braat was the deputy Lord Provost in 2017 before taking on the senior role in 2020 until 2022.
He left the position after the 2019 resignation of Eva Bolander amid criticism of her expenses claims.

Braat was also the former convener of the Strathclyde Police Authority (SPA) and represented Glasgow at COP26.
Braat was a member of the Law Society of Scotland, an honorary captain in the Royal Navy Reserves, and a member of the Glasgow Tree Lovers' Society.
His career now faces ruin after he pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to a single charge of stalking.
Court papers state Braat refused to accept the end of his relationship with the woman.
Braat sent her an email containing alleged communication to his employer that he was considering his resignation.

He sent her a further email containing communication supposedly sent to a police officer.
Braat also uttered remarks during a phone call, in messages and emails suggesting that he would harm himself.
Braat had been requested to stop contact.
However, he contacted her via emails, text messages, social media messages and notifications, as well as phone calls which were unwanted.
Further allegations appeared on his charge sheet which were deleted by The Crown.
This included that Braat allegedly repeatedly attended at her home address and left unwanted gifts outside her front door.
It was also claimed he placed a banner with handwriting on the wall in the communal close.
Braat had been further accused of writing abusive remarks on her front door and wall.
Another deleted allegation said that he left unwanted portraits of her at her front door and sent a typewritten letter to her place of work which contained derogatory remarks towards her.
Solicitor advocate Andrew Seggie will make his plea in mitigation at next month's sentencing where more information surrounding the facts of the case will be heard.

It was an indication that Lyons jnr was a leading figure in his family's criminal activities, which took in drug dealing and money laundering, with assaults and violence an ever-present threat. Incidents that year had raised the stakes even further and brought the gang feud into the national headlines. Carroll, nicknamed Gerbil after a character in the Roland the Rat television puppet show, had allegedly used a 4x4 and a tow rope to topple the headstone of Eddie Jnr's brother, Garry, who died of leukaemia in 1991 aged just eight. Four years later Eddie jnr's father admitted at Glasgow Sheriff Court that he had racked up more than £250,000 in mortgage frauds by giving lenders fake income details. He bought property in Cumbernauld and East Kilbride by self-certifying on mortgage applications, and was ordered to hand over £75,000 after admitting the fraud. The trial collapsed when two of the alleged victims said they had no memory of what had happened to them. Prosecutors withdrew the charges and both Eddie Jnr and Monaghan were pictured smiling as they walked free from Glasgow Sheriff Court in 2017. The pair remained close friends and had reportedly watched the Champions League final in Monaghans Bar on Saturday night before they were shot dead at close range. It's understood Eddie Jnr, 46, had been linked to Spain for some time but had recently been back in Scotland for the funeral of his 16-year-old daughter, who had long-term health problems. Sources claimed he told associates that he didn't feel it was safe enough for him to return permanently. In the end, it transpired he was no safer more than a thousand miles away on the Costa del Sol.

Reform UK ramps up spending on 'racist' Facebook advert attacking Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar
EXCLUSIVE: Nigel Farage's party has now spent almost £25,000 on the controversial social media video. Reform UK have ramped up their spending on a 'blatantly racist' by-election advert about Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar. When the Record first broke the story last month, Nigel Farage 's party had spent nearly £8,000 on the ad. The figure is now closer to £25,000 and the content has reached one million screens, according to Meta. The Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election, a three horse race between Reform, the SNP and Labour, has been marred by allegations of racism. An online Reform post which was put out on Facebook and Instagram said of Sarwar: "Anas Sarwar has said he will prioritise the Pakistani community." It then cuts to a video of the Glasgow MSP telling an audience: 'The days where South Asian political communities get to lead political parties and get to lead countries is now upon is.' However, the video of Sarwar showed he did not say he will 'prioritise the Pakistani community." Sarwar condemned the ad as 'blatantly racist' and dismissed Farage as a 'dangerous clown'. Farage responded by screening the ad at a Reform event and accusing Sarwar of sectarian politics. The Meta figures show the spend has increased in the wake of the controversy. A Scottish Labour spokesperson said: 'Nigel Farage and Reform can throw as much money at their bigoted adverts as they like, they cannot hide the fact that Farage crashed the Reform campaign and ran away like a coward. ' Farage admitted they can't win, that he wants to cut money from Scotland's NHS and doubled down on his ludicrous bigoted claims. 'Nigel Farage is a pathetic little man and his campaign in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse has fallen apart - only two parties are fighting to win. Only Scottish Labour can beat the SNP. 'On Thursday, vote for a local champion - Scottish Labour's Davy Russell - and reject the poison of Reform and the failures of the SNP.'

‘Truly shocking': Dozens of teens found with knives
In 2024, Scottish police found 91 people aged 18 and under in possession of a bladed weapon, including a 10-year-old. More than a dozen children aged 13 – including two girls – were found to have such items when searched. The statistics, analysed by 1919 magazine, indicate that teenagers accounted for almost a third of positive knife searches across all age groups in Scotland. The Scottish Police Federation's chairman, David Threadgold, expressed concern over an emerging societal trend among younger people, saying the statistics are 'truly shocking'. Scottish Labour 's justice spokesperson, Pauline McNeill, described the figures as a sign of a 'youth violence epidemic' and called for early intervention schemes to address the root causes.
