'The support they need': GoFundMe releases webpage for families affected by D.C. Plane crash
Six of the victims aboard the plane were New England natives and had direct ties to The Skating Club of Boston: Coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, figure skaters as 16-year-old Spencer Lane of Barrington, Rhode Island, and 13-year-old Jinna Han, of Mansfield, and their mothers as Christine Lane and Jin Han.
'Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the plane crash near Washington, D.C. At GoFundMe,' said a GoFundMe spokesperson. 'We are working around the clock to ensure the community receives the support they need.'
Jinna Han was often described as 'a bright young star not only in the world of figure skating but also a ray of sunshine and positivity to all those around her.' Her mother, Jinhee, was a 'lovely, gentle spirit who supported her daughter and all the skaters around her with her full heart...'
Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov, both former Olympians and World Champions in skating, frequently supported their son, Maxim Naumov, who is also a figure skater.
Spencer Lane was described by his father as 'a force of nature.' A determined young man and a phenomenal skater. His mother, Christine, was remembered by her husband as someone who 'exuded creativity throughout her life, using her formal graphic design training as a jumping-off point for seemingly endless creative pursuits across areas such as photography, quilting, knitting, and more.'

Family of 7 launches GoFundMe after losing Ledgeview home in fire
A GoFundMe is in place for a family in Ledgeview who lost their house in a fire Aug. 13. The Loseys' house burned down in the 3900 block of Agatha Christie Avenue in Ledgeview. Firefighters responded around 9 p.m. Aug. 13. No one was inside at the time of the fire or was injured in the fire, according to the Ledgeview Fire Department. Madison Losey set up a GoFundMe to help raise money for her family. In just a day, the fundraiser already raised over $50,000 by the morning of Aug. 15. The goal is to reach $60,000. "It was a total loss of everything," Losey said on the GoFundMe page. "We only walked out with the clothes on our back." The cause of the fire and estimated worth of damage is still under investigation, the fire department said Aug. 15. The money from the fundraiser would go towards clothing, food, and housing. The GoFundMe also includes information about donating clothes to the family and how to contact the family for dropoff. US sailor, 19, declared lost at sea after going missing off Australia coast, remembered as a ‘hero'
A 19-year-old US sailor has been declared lost at sea after he was assumed to have gone overboard the USS George Washington off the coast of Australia. Jose Antonio Rivera Lynch IV was identified as the missing sailor by the Navy on Aug. 1. Rivera Lynch served as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Launch/Recovery Equipment) Airman onboard the aircraft carrier and went missing on July 28, only hours after a 'positive' phone call with his parents. A search and rescue operation was launched for the missing sailor and included several Naval vessels and was assisted by the Australian Defense and Australian Border Forces. Officials called off the search that lasted 45 hours and spanned an area of roughly 2,200 square miles on July 30, the Navy announced. 'We noticed the tiredness, we noticed that, and then he said, 'I love you guys,' ' the sailor's father Juan Antonio Rivera III told News4Jax. 'I said, 'You're the best of me. You've been to places I've never been and we are so proud of you.' 'That was the last thing I said to my son,' the heartbroken father said. Rivera Lynch came from a long line of military service, following in the footsteps of his sister, father and grandfather. 'He is my hero,' Rivera said. The mourning father remembered his son for his service and personality. 'He was vibrant, educated, humble. He served his country, he served the Navy and he has made his family proud,' he said. Rivera Lynch's family held a memorial earlier this month and he will be honored during a funeral and memorial service by the Navy on Sept. 19, in Yokosuka, Japan. 'Our thoughts and prayers remain with Airman Rivera Lynch's family, friends, and shipmates during this incredibly difficult time,' Carrier Strike Group 5 Commander Rear Adm. Bedridden woman was trapped as her Massachusetts apartment burned. Then two cousins jumped into action
Two cousins jumped into action to save a bedridden woman who was trapped in her burning apartment, according to local reports. Crews responded to reports of a fire in an elderly woman's apartment at Bradford Condominiums in Woburn, Massachusetts early Friday morning, the local fire department said. The resident was bedridden, and witnesses could hear her calling for help as smoke filled the second-floor apartment, local outlet Boston 25 News reports. That's when two cousins jumped into action. Sadush Brahimaj and Narti Qato heard the woman screaming for help and managed to climb up onto her porch, WCVB reports. "It was so dark, it was so dark and smoky, we couldn't see anything, just hearing her voice, 'Help, help,' all the time," Brahimaj told WCVB. "We didn't think anything else, we just went inside." The cousins tried twice to get inside the apartment building. The first attempt was 'too much,' so Brahimaj said he used his jacket to cover his face like a mask. 'The second time we got her,' he told the outlet. That's when other residents joined in, shining their flashlights to help guide the men and the woman to safety, WCVB reports. Crews arrived after the pair had pulled the resident from her burning bedroom onto the balcony, the local fire department said. Firefighters used a ground ladder to carry the woman down. The woman was taken to Massachusetts General with burns and smoke inhalation injuries, NBC Boston reports. The two cousins were also hospitalized and released soon afterward, WCVB reports. Woburn Fire Captain Bill Stukey praised their rescue efforts, Boston 25 News reports. 'A couple of the guys were able to get up onto the porch, get in through the slider,' Stukey said. 'They went in the back and crawled through the smoke and actually dragged her out. They did a good job.'
