Time of India11 hours ago
French streamer and YouTuber Jean Pormanove, whose real name was Raphaël Graven, has died at the age of 46. According to several French media outlets and social media reports, Pormanove, an IRL (in real life) streamer, passed away in his sleep on Monday at his home in Contes, Alpes-Maritimes, during a livestream.
His death has triggered a wave of outrage online, with claims suggesting he had been tortured by his so-called "streamer friends" for more than 10 days leading up to his passing. Two names in particular being highlighted are fellow streamer Safine and Naruto, after a video resurfaced showing Jean alongside them and several others. In the clip, Pormanove delivers what is now being referred to on social media as a "disclaimer", fuelling speculation about the circumstances surrounding his final days. Jean's final message to his mother before his passing away also hinted at the alleged torture claims.
IRL streamer Jean Pormanove found dead at his home
French outlets such as BFMTV and La Provence report that Jean Pormanove, aka JPF was discovered lifeless at his residence in Contes, Alpes-Maritimes, during the night of August 17 to 18.
Authorities in Nice have launched an inquiry into his death, though initial examinations suggest there are no signs of foul play. An autopsy has been scheduled to provide further clarity.
Pormanove, who had built a large following on platforms like Kick and TikTok, was a familiar face in France's streaming community. He was known for both gaming broadcasts and controversial humiliation-themed streams that often drew sharp criticism online.
Why are French streamers under fire?
French media reports claim that Jean Pormanove was often subjected to on-stream humiliation at the hands of fellow streamers Naruto and Saffine.
In the days leading up to his death, he had allegedly endured what has been described as 'ten days and nights of torture', involving severe physical abuse, forced sleep deprivation, and even the ingestion of harmful substances.
Many believe this toxic environment may have contributed to his decline, as disturbing clips from recent streams continue to circulate online and fuel public outrage. One video in particular, reportedly recorded just a day before his passing, has drawn intense scrutiny. In it, Saffine is allegedly heard issuing what viewers are now calling a 'disclaimer' about Pormanove's death, further intensifying the controversy.
In the now viral video, Saffine and Naruto, along with other streamers, are seen grilling Jean and discussing his death, alleging if he dies, it'll be because of his miserable health and his lifelong suffering. Check out below:

What Jean told his mother just days before his death
According to Dexerto, just days before his death, Jean Pormanove reportedly sent a troubling message to his mother: "Hey mom, how are you? I'm sick of this game — it's gone way too far. I feel like I'm being held hostage by their awful concept. I'm exhausted; I want to leave, but the other guy won't let me. He's holding me hostage."
Naruto and Safine share statements after Jean's death
Both Naruto and Safine released statements after Pormanove's passing. In an Instagram story, Naruto wrote (translated from French): "I've always dreaded writing these words. Sadly, last night JP (Raphaël Graven) left us. My brother, my sidekick, my partner — six years side by side, never letting go. I love you, my brother. We will miss you terribly. Please respect his memory and don't share the video of his final moments. For his family and for us, his second family, Lelokal. Rest in peace."
Safine also shared a tribute on Instagram, expressing disbelief and grief: "From the moment I woke up until now, I haven't stopped crying. I can't believe he's gone. For six years we laughed, created, and shared everything. I wish I could have given you all that you wanted, JP. I love you, Raphaël Graven. I'll miss you deeply. Rest in peace, my brother. We love you, Lelokal."
However, the tribute messages from Safine and Naruto have been met with heavy backlash on social media. In response, users have resurfaced multiple clips allegedly showing the two streamers physically harassing Jean. Several of these videos, now widely circulated online, appear to capture moments of both physical and mental torment, sparking widespread shock and anger.
