Maine fishermen support Jordon Hudson after her advocacy during pageant: 'Together, we persevere'
Support for Maine fishermen appeared to be close to Hudson's heart. She has championed their cause, not only in the pageant, but also thanked Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and the Trump administration for its renegotiation of the Maine Sea Grant funding.
"Advocating for Maine's commercial fisherman takes many forms, and sometimes it walks across a stage in heels wearing a bikini," the Maine Coast Fishermen's Association wrote on its Instagram Stories on Monday. "Jordon Hudson is helping shine a spotlight on Maine fishing communities in ways we never imagined, from the stage to the working waterfront.
"We're grateful for voices like Jordon's that remind us advocacy doesn't always look the same, but it always matters. Together, we persevere."
Hudson was asked during the Miss Maine USA pageant a moment in life she would want to go back to. She said she wished she could be transported back to her family's fishing boat.
"I think about this often because there's a mass exodus for fishermen occurring in the rural areas of Maine, and I don't want to see more fishermen leave this place," she said, via Mass Live. "As your next Miss Maine USA, I would make a point to go to communities … to go into the government and advocate for these people so that they don't have to think about these memories as a past moment."
Hudson's parents owned a fishing business, Frenchman's Bay Fisheries, in Maine. However, after the area they used to fish, Taunton Bay, was closed off to fishing by the state in 2000, their business eventually went bankrupt years later.
Her family's ship reportedly suffered damage and couldn't afford repairs. The family attempted to lobby the state and local legislatures to ease up on regulations that impeded the fishing industry, and eventually the closure of their business.
The family eventually moved to Massachusetts.

At 7,655 square feet, the home has five bedrooms, six full and one half bathrooms and a four-car garage. The contemporary ranch has some of the features of a farmhouse look with its roofing shingles, white fence and weathervane, but all the modernities one would want in a home at this price point. Upon entering, you can't help but notice the tiled inlay in the foyer floor. On to the family room, you notice the big beautiful windows and vaulted ceiling with the visible vaults reminiscent of barn beams. Off the family room is the kitchen, complete with a pass through window. The kitchen has same vaults also the family well as well as skylights in the ceiling. There's lots of counter space, plus stainless steel appliances and an eye-catching hood over the stove that goes to the ceiling; it's covered in textured, uneven brick in a cream color. The eating area looks out onto the deck and has outdoor access to a deck with just enough room for an outdoor dining set. The primary suite has a large bedroom with a vaulted ceiling and outdoor view. The en suite bathroom includes separate vanities plus a makeup counter, a large walk-in shower and a jacuzzi tub under a huge picture window. On the top floor is a great hang out spot. There's an office set up on one end, but the main area has a TV and big couch set up and a wet bar and counter with room for four seats. The walk-out lower level features a spacious media room, a second kitchen, and room for a billiard table and card table. There's also another bedroom, a separate play room and a full gym including a ballet bar and sauna. Outside, there's a deck off the kitchen, then down below there's an in ground pool that's fenced in, a hot tub, fire pit and plenty of room for outdoor entertaining. See photos here. The foyer greets guests with a staircase that goes up and the splits off to the left and right. To the left of the foyer is a sitting room while the formal dining room resides on the right. Through the foyer and slightly to the right is the great room. There's lots going on in this room to compete for the eyes' attention. First is the feature wall/built-in entertainment center. The textured wall serves as an anchor to a teal-colored shelving unit which also has drawers and houses a television. In the blank area of the wall, previous owners have placed an art piece. Pivoting counter clockwise to the next wall is the fireplace, which also happens to be anchored by a similarly textured wall of a slightly different color tone. Above it is the slant from the vaulted ceiling, which features skylights. The next wall is a blank gray, the underlying paint color of the room, with a large art piece. The next wall is a half wall due to the banister above it as the other side is where the staircase in the foyer meets before it splits off. It serves as a dry bar with a counter top, cabinet and two beverage fridges. The counter runs along the corner of the wall where it turns into a full length closet of sorts. A sliding barn door reveals more drawers and wine storage. There are two office spaces, one a little smaller and formal near the front of the home if, say, the homeowner wanted to take appointments there, and a larger one that's more spread out. The kitchen is nice and bright with lots of windows, white cabinetry and counter tops and stainless steel appliances. The primary suite offers a spacious bedroom with room for a sitting area in front of modern fireplace. The en suite bathroom includes a double vanity, large walk-in shower and walk-in closet with room for two. The remaining bedrooms are also large in size. The finished basement includes a full gym and impressive wine cellar with plenty of room for the next owner's wine collection. American Rare Earths (ARRNF) Closing in on A$15M Financing for Halleck Creek Rare Earths Project
American Rare Earths Ltd (OTCMKTS:ARRNF) is one of the best rare earth stocks to buy now. On July 24, American Rare Earths secured firm commitments for a private placement of 46.9 million new shares at A$0.32 each, raising A$15 million. The funding round drew strong interest from both new and existing global institutional and professional investors. It is one of the largest rare earth deposits in the country. American Rare Earths is to leverage part of the funds to accelerate the development of a demonstration plant, infill drilling, and engineering works. 'This capital raise comes at a critical time in the US rare earths industry as domestic growth is catalyzed by the government's decisive action to counter China's global rare earths dominance. The significant support of the placement by existing shareholders, along with new investors, reaffirms our belief that Halleck Creek's immense potential positions the company to supply the rapidly growing permanent magnet production capacity in the US,' American Rare Earths chairman Richard Hudson said.
