Xiaomi Could Bring Satellite SMS Feature With New Redmi Note Phone But Not In India

Last Updated: Redmi Note series could be getting a major upgrade from Xiaomi when it launches this year but its support could be limited. Xiaomi is tipped to bring satellite tech to one of the upcoming Redmi Note phones but its availability could be limited to select regions. Apple introduced the satellite SMS feature with the iPhone 14 model in the US and since then we have seen more Android brands support the technology via different partners. Xiaomi could become the latest in this list with the Redmi Note 15 series getting the upgrade. The details coming from China suggest the Redmi Note 15 Pro model and its highest variant could get satellite compatibility. Redmi Note For Satellite Upgrade: What We Know A tipster named Wylab shared the details about the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+ model that is going to support the satellite-based SMS feature with the help of Baidu's network in China. If Xiaomi does manage to make this tool official, we could finally get more affordable phones with the premium satellite feature. Globalstar and Starlink are the other satellite service providers for mobile devices, who help Apple and T-Mobile cater to their customers, respectively. Satellite tech has shown its worth in different ways. People usually getting stranded in remote and no-network areas have found the feature reliable, allowing them to connect with the emergency services. If the Redmi Note phone does get the feature, we expect Xiaomi to keep it limited to select regions and possibly make it a China-exclusive feature because of the service provider. The company was also said to be looking at ending its partnership with Leica for the camera system but Xiaomi refuted those rumours and assured that both the brands will continue to work in the future and develop new-gen products that reflect their focus on innovation and quality. In the meanwhile, Redmi is planning to launch a new mid-range phone in India called the Redmi 15 5G that promises to pack a 7,000mAh battery into a sleek device. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Instagram unveils new analytics to help creators track what works and why

Instagram is rolling out new analytics features to give content creators clearer insight into how their posts perform and how audiences interact with them. The Meta-owned platform announced that these updates aim to help creators understand audience behaviour at a more detailed level, including the timing and type of engagement on individual posts. Instagram introduces new tools to help creators track engagement, post performance, and audience growth more accurately.(Pexels) Detailed Insights on Reels and Carousels One of the major additions is Reel Like Insights, which lets users see the exact second a viewer liked a video. This is visualised through an interactive chart that helps pinpoint moments that captured attention. Alongside this, the analytics section will display other engagement metrics such as likes, shares, saves, comments, and the total number of accounts that interacted with the Reel. Also read: Xiaomi Unveils New AI Voice Model to Boost Auto, Home Tech Instagram also launched Carousel Like Insights, which functions similarly but applies to photo carousel posts. This tool shows which slide in a carousel led someone to like the post. A pie chart breaks down interaction data between followers and non-followers, and it highlights which individual slides received the most likes. In a shift from account-wide analytics, Instagram now allows creators to access post-specific demographic insights. Previously, creators could only view general demographic data such as age, country, and gender across their entire account. With the new update, the same information is now available for individual posts and Reels, giving a clearer picture of which segments of an audience respond to specific content. Also read: How to quietly limit someone on Instagram without blocking, unfollowing, or causing drama Insights on Follower Growth Instagram has also upgraded its Followers insights section. Creators can now identify the exact content, both Reels and posts, that has contributed most to follower growth. This section displays metrics on new follows, unfollows, and overall growth trends over a selected period. This breakdown helps creators understand which content types are driving audience expansion. Also read: Gaming mouse maker infected users with malware for weeks, then quietly replaced files without warning The final addition is an updated Viewers metric, which Instagram says will soon replace the 'Accounts Reached' measurement. This new metric will reflect total engagement more comprehensively. It will categorise interactions by content type, offering a clearer picture of what drives activity on the platform. These features are being gradually rolled out to users globally and are part of Instagram's ongoing efforts to offer creators more actionable data to refine their content strategies. Google brings iPhone-style swipe animations to Android browsers: Here's how to turn them on

Google is bringing a new navigation feature to Chrome on Android that closely resembles iPhone-style swipe animations. The update introduces a page transition effect, which gives users a preview of the previous or next screen when performing back or forward swipe gestures. Here's how to enable iPhone-style swipe animations in Chrome for smoother back and forward navigation.(Pexels) The feature builds on Android's Predictive Back system, which was first introduced with Android 13, allowing users to see the destination screen before completing a back gesture. In Chrome's latest test, this functionality extends to browsing, showing a dimmed preview of the previous page within a tab's history. If the gesture is performed on a new tab without history, Chrome displays a grey background with its logo, indicating a return to an empty tab. Also read: Xiaomi Unveils New AI Voice Model to Boost Auto, Home Tech According to reports from Android Authority, the animations are being tested in Chrome version 138. While the feature was previously hidden behind developer flags, it is now appearing for select users in the public build. How to Enable Chrome's Swipe Animations on an Android Phone Open Chrome on your mobile device and type chrome://flags in the address bar. Use the search function to locate the flags #back-forward-transitions and #right-edge-goes-forward-gesture-nav. Enable both flags. Chrome will then display a 'Relaunch' button at the bottom of the screen. Tap it to restart the browser and activate the animations. Also read: CEO Tim Cook says Apple is ready to open its wallet to catch up in AI As an alternative, you can type chrome://flags#back-forward-transitions and chrome://flags#right-edge-goes-forward-gesture-nav directly into the address bar to enable them without searching. Once restarted, Chrome will show the new swipe animations when navigating between pages. Google has not enabled this feature by default, and since it is still experimental, some visual glitches may occur. Users can disable the flags by following the same steps if they encounter issues. Also read: Netflix quietly used AI for scenes in its new show: Here's why it could change what you see on screen The move aligns Chrome's gesture navigation more closely with the fluid animations found on iOS, giving Android users a more interactive browsing experience. While the feature is still in testing, it signals Google's intent to refine touch-based navigation for its mobile browser.
