There's no such thing as a perfect TV, but LG's newest OLED is pretty close.
Right now, the 65-inch LG C5 is just $1,996 at Amazon. It's one of the best TV deals you'll find today, and if you're in the market for the sort of TV that will turn heads and dazzle a crowd, this is the one I'd recommend.
I've spent the last decade testing and reviewing nearly every C Series OLED the brand has released, and the C5 is the best yet. Here's what you need to know.
As the mid-range option in LG's 2025 OLED portfolio, the C5 represents the best option for the biggest slice of shoppers. This probably includes you!
The C5 isn't as affordable as the entry-level B5 OLED, but it packs a prettier picture and its full list of features is longer.
The C5 isn't quite as spectacular looking as the flagship LG G5 OLED, but you get a comparable set of features for a much, much lower price.
This value proposition is one of the reasons why, in our LG C5 review, we awarded this TV with a perfect five-star rating.
Performance-wise, here's what you're getting: perfect black levels, pixel-level dimming and phenomenal out-of-the-box color accuracy. The C5 delivers HDR highlight brightness well above 1,000 nits — that's eye-popping contrast that will have movies and shows looking real enough to touch.
Its eye-popping contrast that will have movies and shows looking real enough to touch.
I wouldn't be doing my job if I neglected to mention that the C5 is also overflowing with extra features and enhancements for gaming, streaming and more. As mentioned, you're getting nearly every feature that comes with LG's flagship OLED, and for most folks, that's plenty.
The C5 supports 4K gaming up to 144Hz across all four of its HDMI 2.1-compatible inputs. LG's Game Optimizer offers fast, user-friendly options for tweaking your gaming experience on the fly. It supports Dolby Vision and comes with LG's webOS smart platform pre-installed.
The C5 is on a crash course with our year-end round-ups of the best TVs of the year. It's even better with a sale tag attached to it. More from Tom's Guide

Amazon to pay New York Times $20 million to feed company's AI

Amazon has agreed to pay at least $20 million to the New York Times Company for the right to use its journalism to feed the tech giant's artificial intelligence capabilities. The deal between the two companies was first announced in May but the Wall Street Journal reported the details of the payment plan on Wednesday. As part of the agreement, the Times will allow Amazon to use editorial content from its daily journalism, NYT Cooking and The Athletic for AI-related uses. These include plans for a real-time display of summaries and short excerpts of Times articles within Amazon products and services, such as Alexa, and training for Amazon's proprietary foundation models, the companies said in a joint statement earlier this summer. A payment of $20 million is a drop in the bucket for Amazon, one of the largest tech and media companies in the world with a market cap of more than $2 trillion. For the times, $20 million represents around one percent of the company's operating budget for 2024, the Journal noted. News of the payment comes as the Times remains in litigation with Microsoft and OpenAI over what the news outlet says is copyright infringement related to use of its content in ChatGPT. A judge ruled this spring the Times' case against OpenAI can proceed. Amazon was founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post.

AI-powered laptops are becoming more common but their prices can still be tough to swallow but this HP 255-G10 laptop breaks that trend in a big way. It's packing a powerful AMD Ryzen 3 7330U processor, an impressive 64GB of RAM, and a massive 2TB SSD – specs you usually expect in machines costing well over $2,000. Amazon has slashed the price down to just $699, wiping out 73 percent from its usual $2,599 tag. They're practically giving it away at this record low, so it's definitely the right moment to grab one. See at Amazon This machine runs everyday tasks like a champion. Its AMD Ryzen 3 processor boasts 4 cores and 8 threads with speeds rising to 4.3 GHz. Integrated Radeon Graphics enable streaming video or light content editing with ultra smooth visuals. The 15.6-inch Full HD screen includes an anti-glare feature and ComfortView technology to assist in minimizing eye strain from lengthy working or studying sessions. It's speedy to open apps due to the massive 64GB DDR4 RAM, much higher than what most laptops can provide. It gives your device plenty of room to keep everything humming along when you're multitasking. And don't forget that 2TB SSD, giving you huge quick storage that boots up apps and stores files in seconds. Windows 11 Pro comes pre-installed on the laptop with a lifetime Microsoft Office subscription, meaning you get Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more out of the box. And topping it all is that it comes with an external CD/DVD drive and a 1TB portable SSD. A full-sized keyboard with numeric keypad makes typing reports or figures easier. An HD webcam is perfect for video conferencing or online courses, and the pack includes a wireless Bluetooth mouse, three webcam covers, and a screen cleaner cloth to protect your privacy and ensure your screen is in top shape. Connectivity will not hold you back either: Wi-Fi 6 provides fast, secure internet connectivity and Bluetooth to hook up wireless accessories in a breeze. Port-wise, you have options like two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port for hooking up external monitors, and a headphone/mic combo for audio. Amazon's deep discount guarantees that stocks are likely to sell quickly, so buying now could cost you hundreds more than buying similar laptops at full price. See at Amazon

Full Transcript This transcript was prepared by a transcription service. This version may not be in its final form and may be updated. Ariana Aspuru: Here's your morning TNB Tech Minute for Wednesday, July 30th. I'm Ariana Aspuru for the Wall Street Journal. A few exclusives for you this morning. Amazon will pay the New York Times between 20 and $25 million a year in an AI deal. That's according to people familiar with the matter. The companies announced their deal in May and said it gives Amazon access to content from the Times News, cooking products, and its sports property, the Athletic. Amazon can use this to train AI models and feature Times excerpts in its products, including Alexa. This is the first AI-related licensing pact for the Times and Amazon's first such agreement with the publisher. Also, the AI finance app Ramp says it has raised $500 million in its latest funding round in the Series E-2 funding round led by Iconiq Growth with participation from existing investors, including Founders Fund and D1 Capital Partners said it values the startup at $22.5 billion. The startup uses AI to automate corporate finance tasks and says it has about 40,000 businesses using it, including Fortune 100 companies. The company's platform is built on AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and others. Elsewhere, LG Energy Solutions has secured a $4.3 billion contract to supply Tesla with lithium iron phosphate batteries for three years. The company's US factories will produce LFP batteries for Tesla's energy storage systems amid growing demand. This deal comes as South Korea looks for a trade agreement with the US and LG Energy counters slowing EV demand. LG Energy didn't identify the client due to a confidentiality agreement. A person familiar with the contract said the customer was Tesla. Tesla didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. That's your TNB Tech Minute. Join us again this afternoon. Meta and Microsoft are set to release their earnings after the bell.
