EC Should Debate Rahul Gandhi Or Accept Fault: Aaditya Thackeray At News18 Townhall
Thackeray alleged that 'vote chori' (vote theft) had indeed taken place, accusing the Election Commission (EC) of compromising the integrity of elections.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday said the Election Commission of India must come clean and have a debate with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on the 'voter chori" issue. Speaking at the CNN-News18 Townhall, Mumbai edition, Thackeray also questioned why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was getting 'rattled" by the INDIA bloc raising concerns about alleged 'fake voters" in Lok Sabha elections.
'A complete clean-up is expected about the vote-chori. EC should come out and have a debate with Rahul Gandhi or accept their fault. It is the biggest crime to commit in the world's biggest democracy," Thackeray said.
'We are asking questions from the Election Commission, but why is BJP getting rattled," he questioned, speaking at the CNN-News18 Townhall, Mumbai edition.

Thackeray alleged that 'vote chori" (vote theft) had indeed taken place, accusing the Election Commission (EC) of compromising the integrity of elections over the past several years. 'For the last 7–8 years, the EC has prevented free and fair elections in India," he claimed, arguing that the institution's credibility was at stake.
Thackeray further alleged that the irregularities were benefiting one political party in particular. 'Extra voters and fake votes are going to BJP," he charged, pointing to what he described as systemic issues that tilted the playing field.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader maintained that his party's demands were rooted in democratic principles rather than partisan politics. 'We only want the EC to come clean," he said, framing the issue as a test of institutional accountability in India's electoral democracy.

US House panel to release Epstein files after redacting victim identities
The US House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform plans to make public files it has subpoenaed in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein case, but only after redacting material to protect victims' identities and sensitive information, a committee spokesperson said on Tuesday. The panel is due to begin receiving documents from the Justice Department on Friday, though public release is expected later. The spokesperson said the committee would work with the department during the process. 'The Committee intends to make the records public after thorough review to ensure all victims' identification and child sexual abuse material are redacted,' the spokesperson told CNN. 'The Committee will also consult with the DOJ to ensure any documents released do not negatively impact ongoing criminal cases and investigations.' Republicans in Congress have called for greater transparency on the matter. Speaker Mike Johnson has delayed until September a vote on making the Justice Department's Epstein files public. The Louisiana Republican has said he supports openness but wants to give the administration time to handle the release. House Republicans are expected to face a vote on the issue when they return to Washington next month. Virginia Foxx, chair of the House Rules Committee, said on Tuesday she hoped the matter would be resolved through the Oversight Committee's work before any vote was required. 'Chairman Comer has mentioned that he's getting the material that he's asked for from the Department of Justice,' Foxx said, according to CNN. 'I'd really like to see this resolved, if possible, before we get back, as much information as possible to come out.'

Oppn protests kirtan singer's threat to Thorat
Pune: Opposition members stood in support of senior Congress member Balasaheb Thorat after kirtan singer Sangram Bhandare allegedly said he would take Nathuram Godse's path against the former minister even as BJP and Shiv Sena sided with him. Thorat slammed Bhandare's remarks on Tuesday. He told reporters in Ahilyanagar: "I am not Mahatma Gandhi, but I will be happy to sacrifice my life for my ideology. This behaviour does not suit a person who claims to be from the warkari community." The problem flared up last week following two kirtan sessions by Bhandare in Sangamner tehsil. Thorat and his supporters claimed that in the first session, Bhandare made political statements in support of BJP members, including cabinet minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil — an arch-rival of Thorat. In the second session, Thorat's supporters objected to certain comments made by the singer. This led to a ruckus. Later, Bhandare recorded a video warning Thorat that he would act like Nathuram Godse if the former minister indulged in politics of religion. State Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal said, "Bhandare has given an open threat to Thorat and the BJP-led govt is supporting him. Extremists have sneaked into the warkari community in the name of kirtan. We will have to expose them. We demand strong action by the state govt." NCP (SP) also came to Thorat's support. Working president Supriya Sule said, "The warkari community preaches spirituality and harmony. However, some people are misusing the platform to make violent remarks. I request the state home minister to take cognisance of the threat and take action." Mahayuti members blamed Thorat for the incident. Shiv Sena MLA Amol Khatal, who defeated Thorat in Sangamner, said, "Bhandare came to Sangamner for kirtan. He has his own style of performing where he preaches about Hindutva. On the said day, he also mentioned Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Aurangzeb. Thorat's supporters created a ruckus and tried to attack him. We will not tolerate such behaviour against kirtan singers. Cong making false vote-theft allegations, says BJP
Bhopal: The BJP on Tuesday reacted strongly to LOP Umang Singhar's allegations of the BJP forming the govt with a 'fake mandate' in the 2023 assembly elections. Minister for youth affairs Vishwas Sarang, while addressing a press conference at the state BJP office on Tuesday, said: "Whether it is Rahul Gandhi or Umang Singhar, Congress leaders are misleading the country with baseless allegations without figures and facts. Why is Congress's sleep breaking after 20 months of assembly elections?" Sarang argued that if the Congress suspected irregularities in the voter list, then why did it not complain about it to the Election Commission (EC) within the time limit? "According to the law, a complaint or challenge can be made within 45 days of the declaration of the election result or ten days before the last date of nomination. Why did the Congress not raise objections then? Objection to the election can be made only through affidavit and not by holding a press conference," the minister said. He further said, "Under the Representation of the People Act 1951, every citizen and political party can register an objection if they see any irregularities in the list. The Election Commission revises the voter list every year. The Congress and its leaders, who are making false allegations, should tell the people of Madhya Pradesh when they complained about irregularities in the voter list." He reasoned that the people of the state gave the BJP a majority with 163 seats out of the total 230. "Even if the 27 seats on which Congress leaders are talking about manipulation are subtracted from this, even then the BJP would have got 136 seats, which is sufficient to form the govt," he said.
