Fifth place for Oman rally team's Al-Rawahi in gruelling Rally Saudi Arabia
The Omani teamed up with British co-driver Ross Whittock and tackled two days of demanding action across new special stages to the east and north of the Red Sea city.
The Oman Rally Team driver's progress in his Autotek Škoda Fabia RS was hampered by a series of flat tyres on Friday and more time lost on the penultimate stage on Saturday. But he was regularly third quickest on individual gravel stages behind eventual winner Nasser Saleh Al-Attiyah and Finnish runner-up Juho Hänninen. The points haul keeps him in contention for the Drivers' Championship as the 2025 FIA Middle East Rally Championship reached its halfway point.
Al-Rawahi said: 'It has been a disappointing rally for us. A lot of punctures. We are not sure why because we are not hitting rocks sideways. I don't know if it is luck or something to do with the tyres. We have a different compound tyre to Nasser but this is all we have. Today's stages were a bit more open but everyone was cutting.'
The second day of Rally Saudi Arabia used three special stages to the north of Jeddah that were repeated twice. Al-Rawahi began the day in fifth overall and consolidated that position after the opening Al-Ghulah stage. He set the fourth fastest time on the first pass through Asfan and closed in on fourth-placed Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, who sustained a puncture.
The Omani was third quickest through the Thahban special and headed back to the service point in Jeddah well clear of sixth-placed Hamza Bakhashab and still within striking distance of Al-Kuwari in fourth.
He was third quickest again on the re-run of the Al-Ghulah stage but further tyre woes cost him vital time in the penultimate stage. But Al-Rawahi finished the event on a high note with the second quickest time on the concluding Power Stage to secure additional points towards his regional championship campaign.
The Oman Rally Team has received vital backing from Al-Manar Investments, the Oman Automobile Association, WMS, Zamakan, OQ, Strike, Size, the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture of Oman and National Finance.
Round four of the 2025 FIA Middle East Rally Championship takes place in Jordan on May 29th-31st.

Al Wahaibi chose to compete in this event to gain more experience and prepare for future challenges, despite it being part of the European Cup and not the World Cup. In the early stages, Al Wahaibi took a cautious approach, not pushing too hard during the qualifying stage and the first special stage. As a result, he finished the first two legs in second place within his class. However, Al Wahaibi then unleashed the car's full potential, showing his true speed. He overcame a 20-second deficit to win the second special stage and narrow the gap to just 19 seconds. He then took the lead in the third special stage and advanced to fifth place in the overall standings. Al Wahaibi maintained his strong pace, winning the final stage and extending his lead over home favorite Balazs Molnar to 17 minutes and 30.2 seconds. This victory secured his win in the Side-by-Side class and a fourth-place finish in the overall standings. Following the race, Al Wahaibi stated, "I am very happy with this result. Junior tennis team begins Arab U14 Championship in Tunisia
MUSCAT: Oman's national junior tennis team will kick off their participation in the Arab Under-14 Championship, hosted by the Tunisian capital from August 17 to 23, with the participation of ten Arab countries competing for the title. The team will be represented by six players in both the boys' and girls' categories. The tournament officially begins today following yesterday's draw for the opening rounds. Over the past two days, our players have completed their preparations through intensive training sessions held on the tournament courts. In addition, the squad benefited greatly from participating in a joint training camp in Egypt, organised by the Oman Tennis Federation. The camp, which lasted three weeks, included a large group of Omani players from different age categories and featured numerous friendly matches and tournaments, providing valuable experience and technical readiness ahead of this championship. The national team's delegation for the U14 competition includes: Ahmed al Balushi (Head of Delegation), Mohammed al Dairi (Team Official), Sufiat Dube (boys' coach), Sergei Persikhin (girls' coach), along with players Moataz al Mazrouei, Abdulrahman al Rahbi and Azan al Busaidy, and female players Arin al Azkawi, Talia al Busaidy and Salma al Riyami. RX Sport raises bar for Arab motorsport on global stage
DUBAI: Dubai-based RX Sport is a team led by veteran Emirati champion Rashid al Ketbi and is now raising the bar for motorsport on the international stage. It was founded just one month before the 2023 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge.
