Emirati Craftsmanship Shines at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai with Live Heritage Workshops
The United Arab Emirates Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai is drawing visitors into the heart of Emirati heritage through live workshops showcasing traditional crafts, led by elite artisans from Bait Al Harifeen (House of Artisans).
Now in its fourth day, the pavilion has come alive with hands-on sessions in Al Sadu weaving—focusing on the intricate Maghzal (spindle) technique—alongside Talli (braiding) and Khous (palm frond weaving). Visitors not only witness these time-honored practices but also create their own craft-inspired souvenirs, including Talli medals, miniature spindles, and Khous bookmarks.
These workshops, guided by revered Emirati craftswomen known as the Mothers of the Emirates, offer an authentic experience rooted in the desert's cultural legacy. Their presence is more than a demonstration—it's a living bridge between past and future, preserving artisanal skills passed down through generations.
The pavilion also features striking heritage-inspired installations crafted by Bait Al Harifeen , such as a large Al Sadu piece integrated into the Healthcare section, and a symbolic rocket model in the space exploration zone. Both works exemplify the fusion of tradition and innovation.
The live heritage workshops will continue until April 19, reflecting the UAE's commitment to sharing its cultural identity in ways that are interactive, immersive, and forward-looking.

If you're looking to make the most of the long weekend without hopping on a plane or going full tourist mode, Abu Dhabi's got plenty up its sleeve. This Eid Al Adha, the capital is dialling things up with a fun mix of concerts, cultural experiences, family brunches and special deals you just won't be able to say no to. It's going to be a mini getaway where the whole crew gets entertained. And yes, the little ones are well taken care of. Here's your guide to what's on, what to eat, where to go, and why it's all worth a try. Cultural experiences you cannot miss If you're after something meaningful this Eid, cultural activations are popping up across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. There are lots of foodie and cultural experiences, like the chance to feast on a traditional Emirati meal in a majlis setting at House of Artisans and get your henna done and more. UAE: Injured man airlifted from oil tanker at sea
The National Search and Rescue Center of the National Guard successfully carried out a medical evacuation of a crew member aboard a Marshall Islands-flagged oil tanker while it was located in the territorial waters of the United Arab Emirates. The air evacuation was conducted for the injured individual, a man in his fifties, who was found to be suffering from a serious injury requiring urgent medical intervention. He was airlifted and transported on an emergency basis to a hospital in the UAE to receive the necessary medical care. The National Guard Command called on the public to contact the Search and Rescue emergency hotline (995) to report any emergencies requiring assistance or intervention.
