May 20 - Former Arkansas point guard Boogie Fland committed to reigning national champion Florida on Tuesday.
Fland and his representatives, who include Florida alumnus Mike Miller, confirmed the transfer with ESPN.
Fland attended this month's draft combine before withdrawing from 2025 NBA Draft consideration last week.
He averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 21 games (18 starts) as a freshman for coach John Calipari's Razorbacks in 2024-25.
Fland missed more than two months of the season with an injury to his right hand. He faced the Gators once, tallying 15 points, four assists and three rebounds in a 71-63 loss on Jan. 11 in Fayetteville, Ark.
A five-star recruit and McDonald's All-American, the 6-foot-2 Fland originally committed to Kentucky when Calipari still was the head coach.
He fills a vacancy with coach Todd Golden's Gators, with point guard Walter Clayton Jr. out of eligibility along with fellow backcourt starters Will Richard and Alijah Martin.

Rick Pitino shuts door on New York Knicks return: ‘Absolutely not'

St John's coach Rick Pitino said he has zero interest in becoming head coach of the New York Knicks again. 'Absolutely not,' Pitino said during a broadcast of Wednesday's game between the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Guardians, per CBS Sports. 'I think whoever comes in, if he doesn't get to the finals, it's going to be deemed an unsuccessful season,' he continued. 'So, whoever comes in has got so much pressure on them to take this team to the next level cause that's why they're doing it, obviously, in their minds.' The Knicks fired head coach Tom Thibodeau on Tuesday despite reaching the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. The Knicks haven't reached the NBA finals since 1999 and have not won a championship since 1973. Pitino, 72, compiled a 90-74 record with two playoff appearances in two seasons as the head coach for New York from 1987-89. The Hall of Famer completed his second season as the head coach at St John's in 2024-25, winning national and Big East Coach of the Year honors after finishing 31-5. Thibodeau compiled a 226-174 (.565) record in five seasons with the Knicks, including a 51-31 finish this season. He was 24-23 in the playoffs with New York.

Mets SS Francisco Lindor out of lineup Thursday with broken toe

June 5 - Luisangel Acuna has been penned into the New York Mets' lineup on Thursday afternoon as the starting shortstop against the Los Angeles Dodgers as four-time All-Star Francisco Lindor takes a seat to deal with a broken toe. Lindor was hit by a pitch in the first inning of Wednesday's Mets-Dodgers game, but was helped to his feet and played all nine innings of the Mets' 6-1 victory. Postgame X-rays revealed a broken pinkie toe in his right foot thanks to an errant Tony Gonsolin slider. By sitting at the start of Thursday's game, Lindor will be out of the Mets' leadoff spot for just the second time all season. He missed the 10-4 win against the Miami Marlins on March 31 following the birth of his son, Koa. Lindor said he is working through the pain and will be re-evaluated daily to determine his availability. "It hurts," Lindor said. "And even more so when you are wearing shoes." Lindor is batting .279 with 14 home runs, 36 RBIs and 11 stolen bases this season. Acuna, 23, enters Thursday's game with a .246/.298/.292 slash line and 11 stolen bases in 53 games. He's the younger brother of Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna. --Field Level Media
