Emmerdale's Charity in baby DNA scandal as Ross Barton twist changes everything

Daily Mirrora day ago
Emmerdale's latest episode saw Charity Dingle's betrayal exposed moments after announcing she was pregnant as surrogate for Sarah Sugden and Jacob Gallagher on the ITV soap
There was a big twist on Emmerdale on Thursday that saw the surrogacy storyline take an awkward turn. Just as Charity Dingle learned she was pregnant at the fertility clinic, a later scene revealed all may not be as it seemed.

Charity had agreed to be a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah Sugden and her partner Jacob Gallagher. After an embryo transfer Charity feared it was unsuccessful as she began to bleed.

So imagine her shock when at the clinic ahead of a second procedure, Charity was told she was in fact pregnant sparking celebrations with the family. It comes after a scene recently teased a reunion for Charity and her ex Vanessa Woodfield, amid her marriage to Mackenzie Boyd hitting the rocks.

But the truth about what really happened to them and another character was revealed on Thursday night, and it revealed a potential DNA scandal. Charity seemed a little concerned about the pregnancy and the celebrations by Sarah.
It was clear she was hiding something and she wasn't alone, as her ex Ross Barton was seen watching her like there was something he needed to say. We then finally saw flashbacks to the night Charity got drunk and headed over to Vanessa's house, with the pair sharing a kiss.
It wasn't Vanessa who Charity spent the night with though, as a flashback confirmed this kiss led nowhere and Charity ended up in the arms of Ross. Vanessa had actually rejected Charity's advances, before sending her out of the house.
A rejected Charity staggered around before coming across Ross who had also hit the bottle over his split with Steph Miligan. Soon the pair were kissing before they head off together, and as it panned back to present day the truth came out.

Ross asked Charity: "Is it mine?" confirming they had slept together and that there was a chance Charity was pregnant with his child and not with the embryo she is carrying for Sarah. Having heard the baby news and sensing Charity's panic, Ross was quick to figure things out.
With that the pair went off for a private chat with Ross demanding to know the paternity of the baby. But will Ross expose her to Mack and Sarah after her betrayal, and could it lead to a split amid reports Mack will be killed by John Sugden?
Then there's the fact that if Charity is pregnant with Ross' baby, she's about to break Sarah's heart after offering to be her surrogate. So will she find out the truth or cover it all up just to keep everyone happy?

ITV One Night: Full cast list and when it will be on TV

Now all six episodes of the Australian programme will be available to watch again on ITV and ITVX. The series stars Whittaker, Nicole da Silva and Yael Stone, who play three women whose bond was all but destroyed by the traumatic events of one night 20 years ago. The synopsis for the series says: "Since then, Simone (Nicole da Silva) has harboured secret hopes of becoming a novelist but most of her haphazard attempts have been shoved into her bottom drawer. "Now, at the age of 40, she has finally written the one story she could never get out of her mind, and her debut manuscript has become an unexpected overnight success. "But it soon becomes apparent that the devastating story the book tells doesn't exclusively belong to her. "At the heart of Simone's novel is a tragedy which also happened to Tess (Jodie Whittaker) and Hat (Yael Stone), her two childhood best friends." The Radio Times adds that this threatens to derail their friendships while stirring up perpetrators who "want to make it all go away." Speaking with the publication on what drew her to the series, Whittaker said: "Emily Ballou's writing was absolute poetry. "The use of our younger versions within scenes, of flashbacks and memory; the celebration and complication of friendship; the exploration of trauma… I found that intoxicating." Michael Barrymore reveals epilepsy journey diagnosed after a series of mini strokes

Michael Barrymore reached out to fans for support in a heartbreaking TikTok video in which the comedian and TV presenter told of his mini strokes and "uncontrollable seizures" Veteran TV presenter Michael Barrymore has been diagnosed with epilepsy at 73 - after experiencing a mini stroke. ‌ The host, known for his work on game shows and light entertainment programmes, told fans on TikTok about his "uncontrollable seizures" which have happened as a result of his epilepsy. Epilepsy, a tendency to have repeated seizures which start in the brain, is often diagnosed in younger years but Michael said he has developed it in his 70s. ‌ And the star, who headlined the Royal Variety Performance in 1993, thanked fans for their support. In his emotional TikTok, Michael said: "A mini stroke caused me to develop epilepsy where I have uncontrollable seizures... I suffer from cluster seizures, which affects a quarter of people with epilepsy. It means I have more than one, usually three individual seizures in a short period of time." ‌ Carer dodges jail after performing sex act on disabled man at tourist attraction Now Michael, who grew up in Bermondsey, southeast London, must take emergency medication if he goes into a seizure. He continued: "It's scary because there's a 40% chance of going into epilepticus which causes brain damage and death without prompt medical attention. "I've had several attacks this year and have emergency medication at home if I go into a seizure. It doesn't really affect my life otherwise, but it would be nice to talk with other sufferers on here about it." The entertainer, an unlikely icon for Gen Z with his TikToks and vlogs, shared a series of photographs of himself in hospital. His video has been watched widely across TikTok and may users have left Michael messages of support. Michael's stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2006 - during which he came runner-up to model Chantelle Houghton - was his first major TV gig since his dismissal from ITV in 2003. This came following the death of Stuart Lubbock in 2001 following a party at Michael's home in Essex. But since the controversy, Michael has become extremely popular with Gen Z, particularly through his use of TikTok. He used it last year to poke fun at himself and he reflect on his past while celebrating his birthday. Yet the host, who also presented Kids Say the Funniest Things, has said in recent interviews the 2001 tragedy still affects him. In fact, last year, Michael left the UK for Spain to "change his life for the better". This is despite Michael never being charged in connection with 31-year-old Mr Lubbock's death, and there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on Michael's part.

Emmerdale star Michael Parr makes a huge lifestyle change ahead of welcoming his first child

Michael Parr has embraced a 'huge lifestyle change' as he prepares to welcome his first child. The Emmerdale star, best known for portraying Ross Barton in the ITV soap, revealed in May that he and his girlfriend, Isabelle Du Plessis, are expanding their family. And as he gears up for the biggest role of his life, he has admitted that settling down was not something that was always on the cards for him. In a new interview with the Mirror, Michael, 38, said: 'I was 26 when I first got the job and before it used to be about the nightclubs and going out for pints after work. 'Now I'm entering dad mode. I like my tea and early nights.' Revealing his reaction to the pregnancy news, he added: 'Once Izzy told me, my whole outlook on life changed, It's made me realise what's actually important to me.' Back in May, Mike's girlfriend took to Instagram to confirm they are set to become parents in a sweet post. She shared a series of heartwarming photographs of her and Mike - who is best known for playing Ross Barton - cuddling up to one another. Isabelle showed off her growing baby bump in a figure-hugging red floral gown, which she styled with white sandals. Mike cut a smart figure in a white shirt and black trousers as he posed with his hand placed on Isabelle's stomach. The couple flashed huge smiles as they appeared thrilled to be sharing the news that they are growing their family. They did not confirm the due date, simply teasing that their baby is due 'soon', nor have they yet announced their first child's gender. In a caption, Isabelle simply gushed: 'In our Mum & Dad Era.' Mike revealed in October that he was in a new relationship but kept the identity of his girlfriend a secret. He told The Mirror at the time: 'I'm in a very happy relationship. She's amazing and has been very supportive.' He previously dated his co-star Isabelle Hodgins - who plays Victoria Sugden on the soap - but the pair parted ways back in 2019. Mike played the role of villain Ross Barton on Emmerdale from 2013 until 2018, and he has recently reprised his role. After his debut on the show, he quickly became a fan favourite for his portrayal of the complex-but-charismatic Ross. The actor said he was 'bored' just two months after his departure in 2018 due to being out of work, and reappeared on screen at the end of 2024. Ross was known for his tumultuous relationships with Donna Windsor and Debbie Dingle, and his departure followed a horrific acid attack which left him battling depression. Of his return, Michael said: 'I'm over the moon to be returning to Emmerdale. Ross is a character I'm extremely fond of and I'm excited to explore what he's been up to over the past five years. 'After seeing the scripts, I can't wait for the audience to see what's in store. One thing I can say is Ross's return will no doubt create fireworks.'
