Love Island is set to turn up the heat in unprecedented ways this year. A decade on from its debut, full of flirtations and heart-to-hearts, ITV's beloved series returns with a bold twist: sex may well be broadcast for all to see.
Executive producer Mike Spencer revealed the surprising change following an exclusive villa tour. He said: "If sex happens we'll show it. The Hideaway will be open 24 hours."
This season promises unblinking cameras and unabashed action. Mike continued: "We need to keep the show fresh and exciting. After 10 years the stats speak for themselves. The show will continue to thrive. We, the producers, need to stay ahead of the curve. The whole 'twists and turns' thing is about making the show fresh. We're going to give it all we've got."
Returning host Maya Jama brings her trademark flair and fierce attitude, adding: "I feel like they forgot last year that you could come in The Hideaway at any time. We did tell them but they kept forgetting." That's unlikely to be overlooked this time around.

She said: "I am celibate. I've practiced celibacy throughout my dating life. It'll take a really hot guy to change that. For me intimacy is giving a piece of my soul. If I'm not in a confident place it's a me problem – not his.
"I've gone over eight months celibate now, I was two years celibate before, and I'm proud of that. I only want to have sex when I truly want to – not out of pressure."

Coronation Street actor says 'miss you so much' after star's 'really sad' exit
Sue Cleaver leaves Coronation Street as Eileen Grimshaw after more than 20 years on the ITV soap on Friday, and Todd Grimshaw actor Gareth Pierce has spoken out There's a heartbreaking exit for some on Coronation Street on Friday night, as Sue Cleaver's character Eileen Grimshaw bows out after more then 20 years. Eileen leaves the ITV soap, leaving behind her son Todd Grimshaw, as she moves away and starts a new life away from the Cobbles. Eileen debuted back in 2000, and 25 years on actress Sue has decided to pursue other opportunities. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror at the British Soap Awards, Todd actor Gareth Pierce shared he was "really sad" to see his co-star leave. While he said it may be a good thing onscreen for his character Todd to stand on his own two feet, on a personal level the actor is gutted about the departure. He explained: "I am really sad on a personal note. Sue is wonderful. It's wax lyrical how she made me feel instantly welcome, she made me feel respected instantly, even from the initial screen test. That mother son love was very natural to us." Gareth went on: "It is a testament to Sue and her generosity, I'll miss her so much as an actor. For Toss there's a sense of he's needed to grow up or a while. "He is still living at home with his mum. I think maybe he needs to see who he is without his mum there. They are so alike and both so stubborn. They love each other dearly and also bash into each other constantly, so it will be interesting to see how her absence and Todd being without her will play out on screen." Sue announced her exit from the show earlier this year, having told bosses she was quitting in 2024. She'd thought about it previosuly, but now she's ready to try new adventures and roles. Speaking about the exit, Sue revealed of her final scenes: "I said very much that I would like her to go off to pastures new, you know, to kind of mirror what I'm doing in a sense. And I just think it's time for a change. So it was perfect. "I'm so happy with the ending, and I was so humbled by it and the way it had been written and what it is. I felt very grateful to have such a wonderful ending written. It seemed very, very apt." As soon as she knew she was leaving, she wanted co-star Ryan Thomas, who plays son Jason, to be there for the episodes. She shared: "Ryan was there from the start, and he was inconveniently living in Thailand, and it wouldn't be too far of a jump to expect that if Eileen was going to make a leap, that she would involve her son. "And so when I decided to leave, like over a year ago, I rang Ryan, and I said, 'Ryan, I'm going to tell them that I'm going, and if they ask me about exits, I'd really like to say that you'd come back and take me out, but I don't know whether they'd go for it or not'. "And he just went, 'Oh my gosh, of course, I would', which was so lovely for me. And it was just so nice to have him back and filming those final scenes with him. It just felt like I'd come full circle really."

Sophie Habboo hits back after cruel backlash and nepotism accusations over her new Radio 1 job with Jamie Laing
Some listeners had threatened to switch off as they slammed the latest hiring by bosses Mic Drop Sophie Habboo hits back after cruel backlash and nepotism accusations over her new Radio 1 job with Jamie Laing SOPHIE Habboo has hit back at cruel backlash and nepotism accusations over her new BBC Radio 1 job with Jamie Laing. Station fans had previously threatened to switch off as they slammed the decision to put Made In Chelsea star Sophie, 30, on the airwaves as "gross". Sharing an expert from an i article to Instagram, Sophie wrote on her Stories today: "Thank you @carsonsarah @theipaper. "I've been reflecting on my first week of Radio 1 and it's been such a surreal experience to connect with the nation. I love it!!!" Chief Culture Writer Sarah Carson had praised Sophie in her opinion piece, claiming - while her hiring may not be "fair - the reality star still "deserved" her place. Advertisement She wrote: "The primary function of Radio 1 in the afternoons is providing a bit of distraction, energy, and silliness as people leave work or school. "It's not supposed to be challenging, or specialist - it's low-stakes, unwind, chatty stuff that needs someone sparky on the mic between the pre-made playlists. "Habboo is likeable, a sharp wit, withering, quick to laugh, and sweet. She's smart, comfortable being open about her relationship, self-effacing, and happy to indulge a bit of nonsense (she needs to be, being married to Laing). "She feels like a friend - the kind who gives you tough love while giving your arm a gentle squeeze - and she's got charisma. That counts for a lot more than skill and experience in this landscape." Advertisement Her comments were a far cry from some listeners, who had slammed the latest hiring by bosses. On the official social media account of BBC Radio 1, fans flocked to the comments section as they claimed the station has "fallen" in standards. Vick Hope finally reveals pregnancy - and date she's going on maternity leave from BBC Radio One One disgruntled listener fumed: "How far we've fallen from Vick and Jordan…" A second exclaimed: "There is something really gross, about two such privileged and independently wealthy (the Laings)given access to prime time national radio shows over people who have trained and studied for years in media." Advertisement "Please get some good DJs back in the drive time slot. It's getting embarrassing," stated a third user. While someone else raged: "Wealthy Reality stars just being handed roles for nothing now. They're sooo unrelatable." And a fifth added: "Im a big radio 1 fan but shouldve been jerry .....jamie and sophie is a bad move be a switch off for me sorry." Many longtime fans of the station directly blamed bosses for a decline as they hired "influencers". Advertisement They slammed the decision not to look for upcoming talent or give the role to an existing cover presenter who has trained for the job "for years". Another fan noted: "Where is the dislike button? "There are so many hard working and capable presenters covering gigs on R1 atm, how undermining that they weren't given the chance to show the listeners what they're capable of!!" Someone else agreed" "Really glad I'm not the only one who was disappointed by this update. Advertisement "It really doesn't sit right with me when there's people trying so hard to get a break. It's a no from me I'm afraid." Please get some good DJs back in the drive time slot. It's getting embarrassing Radio 1 fan While another added: "I think I'll be finding a different radio station to listen to for my 'going home' slot in the week now. "Something just doesn't sit right with me, that his wife has got the job… when there must be some amazing local talent & those that have worked really hard in the industry that will have been overlooked for celebrity privilege…" One more fan stated: "Radio 1 turning into a constant influencer podcast.. what happened to actually knowing music to being a radio DJ! Many years of listening, only holding on for Greg! Time to switch!"
