Bosses have been opening new shops and now have 70 across the country. Bayne's delicious baked goods are being sold in Glasgow, Edinburgh, East Lothian, Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Clackmannanshire, Lanarkshire and their home turf in Fife. The popular bakery chain has submitted the planning application in a bid to turn the former convenience store and Post Office at 1612 Great Western Road in Anniesland into one of its bakery branches, The Glasgow Times reports. Bosses have proposed subdividing the property and creating two units. They have proposed for the entrance to get a makeover to feature Bayne's signatire storefront. The bakery would be open from 5.30 to 5.30pm from Monday to Saturday each week, according to documents. The shop would open between 7am and 4.30pm on Sundays. A decision is expected to be made on the plans by Thursday, September 25. Bayne's already has stores in Cardonald, Govan Cross, Possilpark and one in Buchanan Street Bus Station - which had fans joking about "Pie Wars" after it opened next to their biggest rivals in the city. It comes as we revealed Bayne's will be opening a DRIVE-THRU in a Scots town. The new Lanarkshire store was approved by planning chiefs. However, some locals were not on board with the plans.

'I went to an Edinburgh Greggs for a £2.99 Too Good To Go bag and have thoughts'

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Ever since Too Good To Go began spreading across the UK, residents up and down the country have been asking if it's worth it. Now, we're here to have our verdict. Where better to test out the popular app than Greggs - a sure crowd pleaser. At only £2.99 (though the price does change depending on the restaurant or demand), nobody can say it isn't a bargain. Too Good To Go was founded in 2015 in Copenhagen, and was launched to prevent food waste from buffet restaurants. Now, the concept has gone global - with many chains and independent restaurants across the world opting in, to ensure their leftovers don't go in the bin. Using the app, users can reserve a bag - and are then given a time slot to collect it. We reserved our bag from the Greggs on the High Street in Portobello, and collected it just after 6.30pm. There was excitement in the air from the moment we had secured the bag - what would be inside? Would we be eating like royalty all week? We had heard through the grape vine that Greggs was the place to go for these bags. A friend had been handed over quite a spread - four sausage rolls, a muffin, pie, doughnut, filled baguette - the works. Other rumours have circulated of 'incredible' Too Good To Go bags that have been simply stuffed with delicacies, keeping people well-fed for days on end. When we opened the bag, it wasn't quite disappointment - but acceptance. On this particular day, we were supplied with two chicken baguettes and a bag of cookies. For £2.99, this isn't bad at all. Perhaps the blame is on us for setting expectations too high. We thought we'd be dining off the bag for days. Sign up for Edinburgh Live newsletters for more headlines straight to your inbox For clarity, the Too Good To Go app is an excellent creation - saving users money and businesses from wasting food. We hope they keep doing what they're doing for a long time, but do remember that the bags can be hit or miss. When securing your collection, you never really know whether you'll be getting the spread of a lifetime or a bag of disappointment. Perhaps that's part of the fun.

Lidl just launched three ‘divine' new bakery items — starting from 79p

When it comes to baked goods, Greggs dominates high streets up and down the UK – but there's one other place Brits love to get their pastries from. Lidl, which was just crowned the UK's cheapest supermarket, has garnered somewhat of a cult following for its in-store bakeries. The budget retailer's croissants are regularly touted as being 'the best' and shoppers regularly run to their nearest store to snap up new items like the Birthday Cake Bun and retro school cake. So we don't doubt that Lidl's latest sweet treats will prove just as popular, as three new products have just been added to the bakery line-up, including a Cookies and Cream Doughnut, a Tiramisu Loaf Cake and a Pain Suisse. Lidl shared a look at the new selection on TikTok saying: 'New bakery special guests.' The video went on to reveal that the Pain Suisse is priced at 79p, while the Tiramisu Loaf is 99p and the doughnut is £1.49. In the comments, people couldn't get enough of one item in particular, with @szmiha writing: 'I love the doughnuts, can you keep them forever please.' Similarly, @tillyoakleyy replied: 'Omg the Cookies and Cream Doughnut. That will be my funeral.' And @milwin764 posted: 'Lidl, I need that Cookies and Cream Doughnut right now.' While @ thought the doughnut looked 'divine'. Others were keen to try the pain suisse, while a few claimed the Lidl bakery section had them in a 'chokehold'. Over on Facebook, reactions to the new items have been just as strong, with Barbara Wears commenting: 'That donut is lovely but very sweet.' Likewise, Pete Radford thought: 'The doughnuts are incredible.' And Joanne Blackburn said it was 'gorgeous'. Heidi Briddon added: 'Absolutely loved the Tiramisu Loaf and the Cookies and Cream Doughnut.' It's not clear how long these new products will be available in the bakery for, so you'll want to try them while you can. This comes after Lidl recently announced it would be giving away free bakery items throughout August. More Trending The offer, which started on July 31, sees members able to take part in the Lidl Bakery Spin via the Lidl Plus app. All you need to do is buy an item in-store, and scan your app when paying. You'll then have one week to tap and spin the wheel to see which tasty freebie you've bagged, which is, arguably, a piece of cake.
