Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses launching soon in India: Expected price, availability and features
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are receiving a range of new updates this season, with both hardware and software changes aimed at expanding functionality and user access. From live translation tools to enhanced messaging support and visual AI, the updates mark a shift toward more integrated wearable technology.
Ray-Ban has introduced additional styles for the Skyler frame line. The new combinations include aShiny Chalky Grey frame withTransitions Sapphire lenses, suitable for environments with changing light conditions, claims the company. Other options includeShiny Black frames with eitherG15 Green orClear lenses, providing variations for those preferring classic or neutral tones.
In addition to software improvements, Meta has confirmed broader regional availability. The AI assistant is now supported in more EU countries and will soon offer visual recognition capabilities across supported EU markets. The glasses are also set to launch in Mexico, India, and the UAE in the coming weeks.
One of the key software rollouts is the broader availability of the live translation feature. Previously limited to early access in selected regions, the tool now supports real-time translation in English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Users can download language packs to use the function offline, allowing voice translations through the glasses and text transcripts on a paired mobile device. Activation is done by saying, 'Hey Meta, start live translation.'
The glasses will soon support sending and receiving messages, photos and calls via Instagram, adding to the existing integration with WhatsApp, Messenger and the default messaging apps on both Android and iOS devices. Voice commands can be used to initiate contact, allowing users to manage conversations across platforms.
Support for music applications such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam is expanding beyond the US and Canada. This feature allows users to play music and ask for details about songs or albums using voice commands. Functionality depends on the default language being set to English.
A new feature under gradual release in the US and Canada is the AI Vision tool. This allows the onboard assistant to process visual input in real time. The system can respond to prompts related to objects within the user's field of view, enabling tasks such as identifying food substitutes or suggesting wine pairings based on visible items. Once activated, users can speak naturally without needing to use repeated commands.
While pricing for the newly released styles and features has not been formally adjusted, existing models typically begin at $299 (nearly ₹ 25,000). Feature rollouts and hardware availability will vary by region and device compatibility.

UK trade minister to meet USTR Greer to discuss implementing tariff deal
LONDON, - Britain's trade minister Jonathan Reynolds will meet U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of a trade deal that has been complicated by the announcement of fresh U.S. tariffs on steel. Reynolds will review recently agreed deals with counterparts from the U.S. and EU, Britain's two biggest trading partners, during a three-day trip to Paris and Brussels this week. The deals struck last month are both political pacts rather than formal trade agreements, and the details of their implementation have not been set out. Starmer and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to reduce tariffs on British imports of cars and steel to the United States, but its delayed implementation means tariffs may go up before they come down. Last week, Trump said that tariffs on imported steel would rise to 50% from 25% from Wednesday. Industry body UK Steel said it understood that British producers would likely be impacted by the change, which would be a "body blow" to the sector. A British government spokesperson said the UK was engaging with the United States on the implications of the announcement ahead of Reynolds' meeting with Greer to discuss implementation timelines of the bilateral agreement in Paris. In advance of that agreement coming into force, Britain on Monday said it would scrap border checks on fruit and vegetables imported from the European Union, that had been due to be effective beginning in July.

Shillong: In a step towards enhancing employability and professional readiness among Meghalaya's youth, IIM Shillong, through its North East Centre for Community Impact and Engagement (NE-CCIE), conducted a series of intensive business communication and presentation skills workshops across leading institutions in Shillong. Held under the chief minister's Business Catalyst Initiative from May 19 to 30, the programme reached students at MIT University, Martin Luther Christian University (MLCU), and William Carey University. The workshops were led by Cassie DeFilippo, an International English Language Fellow with the US Department of State, and organised in close collaboration with PRIME Meghalaya and the Govt of Meghalaya. "Designed for students from diverse academic backgrounds including business, tourism, finance, and marketing, the sessions focused on nurturing essential communication skills critical for success in today's evolving professional landscape," an IIM statement said. Participants explored various facets of effective communication, such as professional project writing, distinguishing between formal and informal language, using active and passive voice appropriately in business contexts, and the responsible integration of AI tools into communication tasks.
