Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses launching soon in India: Expected price, availability and features
Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are receiving a range of new updates this season, with both hardware and software changes aimed at expanding functionality and user access. From live translation tools to enhanced messaging support and visual AI, the updates mark a shift toward more integrated wearable technology.
Ray-Ban has introduced additional styles for the Skyler frame line. The new combinations include aShiny Chalky Grey frame withTransitions Sapphire lenses, suitable for environments with changing light conditions, claims the company. Other options includeShiny Black frames with eitherG15 Green orClear lenses, providing variations for those preferring classic or neutral tones.
In addition to software improvements, Meta has confirmed broader regional availability. The AI assistant is now supported in more EU countries and will soon offer visual recognition capabilities across supported EU markets. The glasses are also set to launch in Mexico, India, and the UAE in the coming weeks.
One of the key software rollouts is the broader availability of the live translation feature. Previously limited to early access in selected regions, the tool now supports real-time translation in English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Users can download language packs to use the function offline, allowing voice translations through the glasses and text transcripts on a paired mobile device. Activation is done by saying, 'Hey Meta, start live translation.'
The glasses will soon support sending and receiving messages, photos and calls via Instagram, adding to the existing integration with WhatsApp, Messenger and the default messaging apps on both Android and iOS devices. Voice commands can be used to initiate contact, allowing users to manage conversations across platforms.
Support for music applications such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam is expanding beyond the US and Canada. This feature allows users to play music and ask for details about songs or albums using voice commands. Functionality depends on the default language being set to English.
A new feature under gradual release in the US and Canada is the AI Vision tool. This allows the onboard assistant to process visual input in real time. The system can respond to prompts related to objects within the user's field of view, enabling tasks such as identifying food substitutes or suggesting wine pairings based on visible items. Once activated, users can speak naturally without needing to use repeated commands.
While pricing for the newly released styles and features has not been formally adjusted, existing models typically begin at $299 (nearly ₹ 25,000). Feature rollouts and hardware availability will vary by region and device compatibility.

Five names to watch in the Premier League transfer window
Premier League clubs are already busy strengthening their squads for the 2025/26 season with an early transfer frenzy sparked by the upcoming Club World Cup. AFP Sports looks at five names to watch as the transfer window kicks into gear. Liverpool have shown no sign of resting on their laurels as English champions. After a quiet first year for Arne Slot in the transfer market, the Reds have moved quickly to back the Dutchman heavily this summer. The darling of German football, Wirtz looks set to smash the Premier League transfer record should he get his wish of a dream move to Anfield. Liverpool have reportedly had a bid worth up to £109 million rebuffed as Leverkusen hold out for a £125 million fee. That would break the record set by Chelsea's £115 million capture of Moises Caicedo from under Liverpool's noses two years ago. Wirtz was instrumental in Leverkusen's stunning German league and cup double in the 2023/24 season, plus a run to the Europa League final under Xabi Alonso. The two clubs have already agreed one deal as Jeremie Frimpong has joined Liverpool as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Fresh from the club's worst season since they were relegated 51 years ago, losing their inspirational captain would appear to be the worst possible news for United. However, selling Fernandes to Saudi side Al Hilal could provide much-needed funds for Ruben Amorim to rebuild a squad in his image at Old Trafford. The Red Devils could land £100 million for the 30-year-old, who would become one of the world's highest paid players should be move to the Gulf. "If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever, it is what it is and football sometimes is like this," said Fernandes after United lost the Europa League final to Tottenham last month. Fernandes would leave enormous shoes to fill for a side already lacking in creativity and a goal threat. Despite a miserable campaign collectively, only Liverpool's Mohamed Salah provided more goal contributions last season among Premier League players in all competitions than Fernandes' 19 goals and 19 assists. Mbeumo is one of United's key targets to end their woes in front of goal. The French-born Cameroon international enjoyed a stellar season with Brentford, scoring 20 times. Mbeumo revelled in becoming the Bees' star man since the departure of Ivan Toney and his partnership with Yoane Wissa carried Thomas Frank's men to an impressive top half finish. Despite interest from Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham, Mbeumo's preferred destination is reportedly Old Trafford if United can reach an agreement with Brentford. United have already added Matheus Cunha to bolster a misfiring forward line. A remarkable 54-goal season for Sporting has made the Swede a target for a series of clubs seeking more firepower. Arsenal have been strongly linked with bringing Gyokeres back to England as Mikel Arteta seeks a clinical finisher to end the Gunners' five-year trophy drought. The 26-year-old has a 100 million euro buyout clause in his Sporting contract, but it is expected the Portuguese champions would settle for around 70 million euros. Despite six goals in eight Champions League games, there are doubts over Gyokeres' ability to transfer his prolific form in Portugal to the Premier League. He joined Sporting just two years ago from English second tier side Coventry after failing to make the grade at Brighton. Arsenal also have a long-standing interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, while Newcastle's Alexander Isak appears an unattainable target after the Magpies qualified for the Champions League. Eze will forever be a Palace legend after scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City to deliver the Eagles' first ever major trophy. The England international's eye for goal and a defence-splitting pass has seen him targeted by a plethora of the Premier League's best. City eye the 26-year-old as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, while Arsenal and Tottenham are also interested and could easily trigger his £68 million release clause. kca/iwd TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

UK trade minister to meet USTR Greer to discuss implementing tariff deal
LONDON, - Britain's trade minister Jonathan Reynolds will meet U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on Tuesday to discuss the implementation of a trade deal that has been complicated by the announcement of fresh U.S. tariffs on steel. Reynolds will review recently agreed deals with counterparts from the U.S. and EU, Britain's two biggest trading partners, during a three-day trip to Paris and Brussels this week. The deals struck last month are both political pacts rather than formal trade agreements, and the details of their implementation have not been set out. Starmer and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to reduce tariffs on British imports of cars and steel to the United States, but its delayed implementation means tariffs may go up before they come down. Last week, Trump said that tariffs on imported steel would rise to 50% from 25% from Wednesday. Industry body UK Steel said it understood that British producers would likely be impacted by the change, which would be a "body blow" to the sector. A British government spokesperson said the UK was engaging with the United States on the implications of the announcement ahead of Reynolds' meeting with Greer to discuss implementation timelines of the bilateral agreement in Paris. "We recognise our relationship with G7 allies and EU counterparts must continue to evolve and deliver a better trading environment for our businesses and exporters," Reynolds said in a statement ahead of the trip. Reynolds will also meet Indian Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal to discuss a recently negotiated Free Trade Agreement, which is still having its legal text finalised and is subject to ratification in both countries, which could take months. After meetings with G7 and OECD counterparts in Paris, Reynolds will hold talks with EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic. As part of efforts to reset ties without fundamentally reopening the Brexit deal, Britain and the EU have agreed to conclude talks to remove red tape on its food trade, but details of the plan have yet to be finalised. In advance of that agreement coming into force, Britain on Monday said it would scrap border checks on fruit and vegetables imported from the European Union, that had been due to be effective beginning in July.
