Bhopal: The three accused involved in the rape, blackmail, sexual harassment, and torture of female students at a private college were produced before the court on Monday. However, the situation quickly escalated as lawyers showed up.
Infuriated lawyers created a commotion and physically assaulted the accused in the court premises. Police struggled to shield them. The lawyers demanded that accused be handed to them, cops said.
In the case, a fourth FIR was filed against one of the accused on charges of molestation and a fourth accused was arrested. Cops said the fourth accused broke his leg while trying to flee from his hideout. Two accused are still on the run. Bag Sewania police paraded the accused on the main road on Monday morning, making them perform squats.
At the court, sensing the escalating threat , police had to summon additional forces. The accused were locked inside the court until around 8:15 pm, having arrived at around 3:30 pm.
By 6:00 pm, the judge left the court due to security concern. After a nearly five-hour-long standoff, police attempted to escort an accused, Sahil out through a rear exit, but he was again attacked by lawyers who tore his clothes and inflicted some injuries. Police managed to transport him to the station.
During this time, tear gas and pepper sprays were said to be used, but police officers denied using any such items. They also denied that accused or cops were hurt.

Before presenting Farhan and Sahil in court, police took them to JP Hospital for a medical check-up. However, members of the Hindu organisation
Sanskriti Bachao Manch
staged a protest, demanding the accused be handed over to them, threatening to blacken their faces. The medical exams were skipped but were later conducted. Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra said that as of now, no case has been filed in the court protest or the JP hospital protest. After the hearing, Sahil was sent to jail, while cops secured a two-day extension of Farhan's custody for further probe.

Allahabad HC grants anticipatory bail to satirist in case about her remarks on Pahalgam attack

The Allahabad High Court on Monday granted interim anticipatory bail to satirist Madri Kakoti in a case related to her remarks on social media about the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, Live Law reported. Justice Rajeev Singh granted relief to Kakoti in the first information report filed against her at the Hasanganj police station based on a complaint by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad leader Jatin Shukla in April. Kakoti, known as Dr Medusa on social media, is an assistant professor in the linguistics department at Lucknow University. In his complaint, Shukla accused Kakoti of targeting India's unity, integrity, and sovereignty through posts on her handle on X. He alleged that Kakoti frequently used terms such as 'saffron terrorists' on her platforms and added that some of her posts had reportedly been shared by Pakistani media channels. Kakoti was subsequently booked for several offences, including endangering the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India, Live Law reported. The terror attack at Baisaran near the town of Pahalgam on April 22 left 26 persons dead and 17 injured. The terrorists targeted tourists after asking their names to ascertain their religion, the police said. All but three of those killed were Hindu. In the aftermath of the attack, several states, including Assam, launched a crackdown on persons making statements that authorities deemed were pro-Pakistan.

"Will take decision today": Parameshwara on Centre's request to transfer Suhas Shetty's murder case to NIA

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 9 (ANI): Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Monday said that the Central Home Ministry has sent a letter to the state government asking it to hand over the Suhas Shetty murder case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and a decision on it will be taken soon. Speaking to the mediapersons, Parameshwara said, 'The Central Home Ministry has written a letter to the State government to hand over the case of the murder of Suhas Shetty to the NIA. I believe yesterday the letter came, I learn that from the Director General of police (DGP), and today, we are going to decide on it...' Shetty, a prominent right-wing youth leader associated with the Bajrang Dal in Karnataka's coastal belt, was brutally murdered last month in Sullia town of Dakshina Kannada district. The activist, in his early 30s, was attacked by unidentified assailants while returning home late at night. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The incident triggered widespread protests in the region, with local Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) units alleging a targeted killing. Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra targeted the Siddaramaiah government over the murder of former Bajrang Dal activist Suhas Shetty. He called the Congress government 'anti-Hindu' and alleged that the Hindu activists have been constantly attacked in the state. Speaking to ANI on Monday, Vijayendra said, 'Hindu karyakartas have been consistently attacked here in the state ever since Congress has come to power... Due to the appeasement politics of the Siddaramaiah government, no action has been taken so far against any organisation or anti-national elements... In the recent Suhas Shetty murder case, the Home Minister was forced to cancel his visit to Suhas Shetty's house. This Siddaramaiah government is anti-Hindu.' He added that the party workers had met the Governor of Karnataka, Thaawar Chand Gehlot, and demanded that the investigation be transferred to the National Investigating Agency (NIA), which the Centre agreed to.
