Dana White's brutal Jon Jones decision defended by Joe Rogan as UFC icon faces yet more legal trouble
The former two-division champion performed a U-turn on retirement less than two weeks after hanging up his gloves following news of the promotion's plans to stage a card at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

White was initially open to the idea of Jones topping the blockbuster bill along with Conor McGregor, but has since performed a U-turn.
During the UFC 318 post-fight press conference, he said: "I can't risk putting him in big positions, in a big spot, and have something go wrong.
"Especially the White House card."
And the UFC headhoncho's sentiment has been echoed by veteran commentator Rogan, who sided with his good friend during a recent episode of his podcast.
He said of Jones: "Now he wants to fight for the title at the White House.
"And Dana is like 'Nope, I can't trust Jon to not f*** something up.' Which is wild.
"But also what are you going to say when Jon just recently got in more trouble? It's a story as old as time, isn't it?"
Jones, 38, was recently charged with leaving the scene of an accident in New Mexico, where a woman was found 'exhibiting signs of significant intoxication and lacking clothing from the waist down" in February.

The woman claims Jones was the driver of the vehicle and fled the scene before the police arrived.
According to the police report, she then called the MMA icon, who is alleged to have made "allusions to violence" during a conversation with the authorities..

Jones has vehemently denied the allegation, claiming the woman found in the car drove away from his house while intoxicated.
Despite his recent brush with the law and White's recent comments, Jones remains confident of fighting at the White House.
He wrote on X: "I heard the comments made at last night's press conference.
"While I was a little disappointed, I'm still in the UFC's drug testing pool, staying sharp, and continuing to train like a professional. I'll be ready for whatever comes next.
'In a recent interview, I shared that the opportunity to fight at the White House gave me something deeper to fight for, a 'why' that goes beyond paychecks or belts.
"Fighting for my country gives me a greater purpose!
'The silver lining in all this is knowing the fans see my heart. They see, I am ready and willing to take on anyone, to represent my country on a historic stage.
'For me, it's never been just about the opponent. I'm chasing legacy, something timeless, something bigger than the moment.
'So for now, I'll keep grinding, stay patient, and stay faithful.
"I'm ready to fight on July 4th. #IndependenceDay.'

UFC star reveals the savage act that ruined his dream of playing in the NRL
Kneeing an opponent during an on-field brawl ended his NRL hopes while an acting career as Batman still remains a pipe dream, but for now Carlos Ulberg has firmly set his sights on snaring the UFC 's light heavyweight crown. Ulberg will be the star attraction when he headlines Perth 's UFC Fight Night on September 28 at RAC Arena. The 34-year-old Kiwi, the third-ranked challenger in the division following an eight-fight winning streak, is looking to continue his hot run when he faces American Dominick Reyes (15-4) in Perth. Ulberg (13-1) has enjoyed a hugely successful UFC career to date, but before that harboured dreams of becoming an NRL star. Those hopes were shattered when all hell broke loose during a Fox Memorial Cup game in New Zealand while he was playing for the Otahuhu Leopards. 'We're coming to the end of the game and a fight breaks out. The whole team is fighting,' said Ulberg, who played as a second rower, winger or centre. 'People are dropping left, right and centre, and it's a televised game. 'I'm throwing knees at one of the guys and just got him in a clinch, and the camera zooms in on me. 'So everything's kind of put on me, and I get sent to the judiciary and got banned for eight weeks.' Just 22 at the time, Ulberg made the decision to quit the sport and take up fighting. 'That was the end of my career in rugby league,' he said. 'I put everything into that season and then it got taken away from me. I went straight to the boxing gym the very next week. 'I grew up around boxing. My family were boxers. My dad was a boxer - represented Samoa, New Zealand, so it was in the family.' The UFC quickly caught Ulberg's eye and he believes he is just one victory away from earning a title shot against current light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev. 'I have big dreams,' Ulberg said. An eight-fight winning streak has elevated Ulberg to title contention 'Being the champion is just one mountain, and there's going to be the next one. So I'm forever climbing them.' One of those big challenges Ulberg would love to tackle down the track is acting - something he dabbled in during his younger years. 'I want to be Batman one day. Bruce Wayne,' Ulberg said with a laugh. The Kiwi is no stranger to being in front of the camera, appearing on reality TV show Game of Bros in 2018, and also working as a male model and stripper. But for now, Ulberg wants to put on a show in Perth in front of what is expected to be a bumper crowd.

Son Heung-min admits Los Angeles FC move was not his first choice
Son Heung-min admitted Los Angeles FC were not his first choice destination after he ended a 10-year stay at Tottenham but insisted they had 'changed his heart' on a record Major League Soccer transfer. The 33-year-old on Wednesday completed a move worth in excess of £20million – the highest transfer fee paid by an MLS club – after it was revealed on Saturday he would be leaving Spurs following 173 goals in 454 appearances and months after he captained the club to Europa League glory. Advertisement At an introductory press conference in Los Angeles, the South Korea international admitted he had to be persuaded of the merits of moving to the United States before signing an initial two-year deal. New Beginnings ☀️ Welcome to Los Angeles, Sonny! — LAFC (@LAFC) August 6, 2025 'They've been absolutely working so hard to get me here to join LAFC,' Son said. 'If I'm honest it was not my first choice but John (Thorrington, LAFC general manager) was the first call when the season finished and John changed my mind, he changed my heart. 'I'm so happy to see all the Korean fans, I was at the game and I saw you supporting like crazy and I wanted to run on the pitch and show my performance. I'm here to win and I will perform. 'I will definitely show you something exciting in… are we calling it football or soccer? I will definitely show you some exciting football and we will have success.' Advertisement Son added that the decision to leave Spurs had left him feeling 'very empty'. 'I felt like I gave it all, but I felt like I needed a new chapter and new challenge and I chose LAFC. I'm old but I still have good physicality, good legs and I still have good quality.' Earlier Son had issued an heartfelt message to Tottenham fans on making the 'hardest decision ever' to leave north London. 'How to find the right words for this? I don't know. I have been thinking for days. It's impossible. But here I go,' Son wrote. Advertisement 'It's time for me to say goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur. My home for the past decade. When I arrived in 2015, I didn't speak English, I didn't know London, but you welcomed me with open arms, believed in me, and stood by me through every high and low. 'I was just a boy from Korea with big dreams who was supposed to have no chance. And now, 10 years later, North London is in my heart forever. Dear Spurs fans... Sonny's letter to you 🤍 — Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) August 6, 2025 'I've made friends for life here, had the honour of becoming a godfather here, and had the privilege of captaining our special club here. I've poured my heart and soul into this club, which makes this the hardest decision ever. 'I thought if I was ever going to leave, it would have to be on my terms, on the best terms, when our mission had been accomplished together. With pride and honour.' Advertisement Son joined Spurs in 2015 from Bayer Leverkusen. Alongside old partner in crime Harry Kane, Son holds the record for the most goal involvements by a duo in the Premier League, with the pair assisting each other on a record 47 occasions in the competition. Son's performance helped turn Tottenham into title contenders when they finished second in the Premier League under Mauricio Pochettino in 2017, finishing as runners-up in the Champions League two years later. After Kane left for Bayern Munich, Son became Spurs captain under Ange Postecoglou, lifting the Europa League trophy in May – having come off the bench in the final against Manchester United, a 1-0 Spurs win, after an injury-affected campaign. The popular South Korean will renew acquaintances with Hugo Lloris and move to Los Angeles, which boasts one of the largest Korean populations in the world, ahead of next summer's World Cup in the United States. Heroic flash flood victim, 22, used his last bit of strength to save best friend before being swept to his death
A young man who lost his life in a flash flood saved his childhood best friend in his last act of service on Earth. Cohen Turner, 22, died on Sunday in an Alabama flood, the Turkey Heaven Volunteer Fire Department confirmed. Cohen and his friend were driving in the early hours of the morning when their vehicle was submerged in a creek, his uncle announced. The two escaped the vehicle through the sunroof, but Cohen's friend went underwater. 'His friend went under and his last actions were that of abandoning his own safety and pushing his friend to a tree for safety,' Cohen's uncle, Danny, wrote on social media. 'A heroic act by everyone's definition. Cohen was then swept under afterwards.' Danny said his nephew's body was later found by emergency personnel, and the family was notified of the tragedy. 'No greater act of selflessness than to give your life for another. Keep our family, especially his father Jay and mother Robin in your prayers,' Cohen's uncle added. Danny, a police officer in the area, told the local Alabama outlet, Advance Local, 'To be a 22-year-old and be so selfless to give your life to help a friend, it's unheard of in these times.' He said Cohen was sleeping in the passenger's side of the car while his friend drove when the flash flood engulfed them. They were only a few miles away from Cohen's home when the flooding pinned their vehicle against a guardrail and gave out to the creek. 'Cohen tells his friend they need to go to the right because there's going to be less water over there and they had a better chance of making it to land,' Danny told AL. 'They jumped off together.' Cohen helped his friend find safety in a tree. 'Anybody who has ever been in the water knows that if you push somebody up, you're pushing yourself down at the same time,' Danny said. 'Cohen went under.' Danny said that rescue workers found Cohen's friend safe in a tree. He added that Cohen's body was located not too far behind. He said that it seemed like Cohen had made it to a safe place, but was trapped by a fallen tree. 'Any one of the circumstances he would have prevailed, but with it being rapid fire problem after problem being thrown his way, the totality of the circumstances made it where he couldn't prevail,' Cohen's uncle said. Since Danny had served as a police officer for over 30 years, authorities notified him of his nephew's death first. 'Our family is completely devastated by the loss of such an incredible person,' he added. Cohen was born on December 30, 2002 in Georgia and loved hunting, fishing, and helping others, according to his obituary. His uncle said that after graduating from high school, he worked rigging scaffolding on buildings in Atlanta. Cohen is survived by his mother and father, Robin and Jay Turner, siblings Colt Stephens and Haven Turner, and his niece and nephew, Maddox and Sadie Stephens. He is also survived by his grandmother, Judy Turner, and his 'soulmate,' Cera Brewer. Cohen's girlfriend, Cera, posted a tribute on social media that read, 'My heart is shattered. My boyfriend, my love, my best friend, is gone far too soon. There are no words big enough to explain the pain, or to describe how much he meant to me.' 'He made me feel safe, loved, and truly seen. His laughter, his warmth, the way he looked at me—I will carry it all with me, always,' she continued.
