Transmedia Entertainment City to come up in Andhra Pradesh soon
VIJAYAWADA: In a landmark move to position the State as a global hub for entertainment, tourism, and digital innovation, the State government has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Creativeland Asia (CLA) to conceptualise and operationalise Creatorland-India's first Transmedia Entertainment City.
Announced at the WAVES Summit in Mumbai, the partnership will bring together immersive theme parks, gaming zones, AI-powered virtual production studios, global cinema co-production zones, and a Creatorland Academy to upskill youth in cutting-edge domains like VFX, AI, gaming, and immersive storytelling.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh, AP Tourism Development Corporation MD and Tourism Authority CEO Amrapali Kata, and CLA Founder and Chairman Sajan Raj Kurup. Global entertainment leaders, including David Unger (Artists International), Andy Orrick (Studio Belong), Jani Guest (Creators Inc.), and Nicolas Granatino (Tara Gaming), were also present.
Durgesh said, 'This is more than an infrastructure project. It's a commitment to building an ecosystem for talent, innovation, and tourism. Creatorland will transform Andhra Pradesh into a cultural and economic powerhouse by combining entertainment, digital storytelling, and world-class production infrastructure.'

Deputy CM to lay foundation for Akhanda Godavari Project foundation
Rajamahendravaram: The foundation of the prestigious Akhanda Godavari Tourism Project aimed at showcasing the historical and cultural magnificence of Godavari region, will be formally held on June 19, announced by State Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh. The ground-breaking ceremony will be jointly performed by Deputy Chief Minister Konidela Pawan Kalyan and MP Daggubati Purandeswari, with the support of the Central government, he said. The Minister conducted a field visit on Saturday to oversee the arrangements for the upcoming event, inspecting key sites like Pushkar Ghat and theHavelock Bridge alongside district officials. He issued directions to ensure the smooth execution of the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Durgesh said the project is being taken up with a sanction of Rs 97 crore under the SASCI 2024–25 (Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment) scheme. The works will span across Rajamahendravaram, Dowleswaram, Kadiyam, Kovvur, and Nidadavolu, aiming for completion before the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu. He said that the project will significantly transform several locations in East Godavari district, adding new dimensions of beauty and improved tourist amenities. District Collector P Prasanthi stated that the 127-year-old Havelock Bridge, a heritage icon, will undergo beautification and modernisation. Proposed developments include waterfalls, glass bridges, a gaming zone, a space-themed park, an urban hot craft bazaar, hanging gardens, a hologram zoo, time travel experience zones, a rail museum, and an aquarium tunnel. These attractions are expected to position the location as a major tourism hotspot. The Pushkar Ghat will also be further developed, and both the ghat and the Havelock Bridge will be integrated into a single dynamic tourist destination, she added. Stone will be laid for Akhanda Godavari project on June 19, says Andhra Pradesh Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh on Friday said the Central government-sponsored Akhanda Godavari Project would usher in fresh charm in the areas surrounding the Godavari. In a statement, Mr. Durgesh said that Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan and BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari would lay the foundation stone for the project on June 19. He said the ₹97 crore sanctioned for the project under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI)-2024-25 scheme would be utilised to develop tourism infrastructure in Rajamahendravaram, Dowleswaram, Kadiyam, Kovvur, Nidadavolu, and surrounding areas. The works were expected to be completed before the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams, he said. Modernisation of Havelock Bridge The 127-year-old Havelock Bridge, a symbol of historical and cultural heritage, would be modernised by adding new features such as waterfalls, glass bridges, gaming zone, space-themed experiences, Urban Haat craft bazar, hanging gardens, hologram zoo, time travel exhibits, rail museum and aquarium tunnels. The Minister said the nearby Pushkar Ghat would be upgraded to make it a significant spiritual destination, enhancing connectivity between the bridge and the ghat to form a dynamic tourist destination. The surrounding temples would also be developed with aesthetic architectural design to usher in spiritual ambience for year-round pilgrimage, he said. The famous Kadiyam nurseries, one of the largest in the country, would also be developed into a tourist attraction. The Godavari canals and the culturally significant locations in the vicinity would be restored and beautified, Mr. Durgesh said, adding that tourists would have boating and leisure rides to spend fun moments. He said the Sri Kota Sattemma temple at Timmarajupalem in Nidadavolu mandal, a prominent ancient spiritual centre known for its grand entrance and towering 'rajagopuram', would be given a facelift by construction of additional pilgrim accommodation facilities and by modernising the 'rajagopuram'.

Three-day Masula Beach Fest kicks off with grandeur
VIJAYAWADA: With a vibrant display of culture, adventure, and community spirit, the Masula Beach Festival–2025 began on a grand note at Manginapudi Beach, Machilipatnam on Thursday. Organised by the State government to promote tourism and provide recreation, the three-day event (June 6–8) is expected to attract over 15 lakh visitors from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and beyond. Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh and Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra inaugurated the festival by unveiling the iconic Gate of Amaravati Tower and a 100-foot national flag at the venue. Addressing the gathering, Minister Durgesh reaffirmed the government's commitment to transforming Machilipatnam into a premier tourist destination with support from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan. He also announced that the Central government has approved funds for developing Manginapudi Beach. For the first time in the State, kayaking has been introduced as a water sport during the festival, alongside paragliding, which is drawing enthusiastic participation from youth and children. Visitors can also enjoy beach volleyball, kabaddi, cultural programmes, and live music. Minister Ravindra described the Masula Beach Festival as the largest of its kind in South India and hailed it as a vital step in establishing beach tourism in the State. 'Machilipatnam will be developed as the gateway to Amaravati,' he declared, adding that the government is focused on building tourism infrastructure that reflects the state's cultural and natural appeal.
