More houses added to 1,300 homes plan
Housing developer Bellway Homes Ltd applied to Bassetlaw District Council for the appearance, layout, scale and landscaping of the scheme, earmarked for land south of Scrooby Road in Harworth.
It's part of a wider Bassetlaw development of more than 1,300 properties, approved on the land in 2021 and called the Harworth Colliery Regeneration Scheme.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said the properties will be split into 61 three-bedroom homes and 77 four-bedroom homes.
All homes will be two storeys to be in keeping with the different phases of the wider development and have a clear, urban structure.
LDRS said residents will mainly access the site from the north but will have connecting access from the different phases.
Planning papers say: "New residents and following generations will have the opportunity to have long and successful lives in a sustainable and pleasant location."
Jones Homes and Kier Living will build 71 and 125 homes on two separate patches of land at the Scrooby Road entrance.
Miller Homes and Harron Homes are currently building on-site as part of the Phase 2 of the wider development, which started in early 2022.
Harron Homes also plans to develop a further 65 homes on the site, however LDRS said the district council will decide on this application at a later date.

Wembley could be latest hotspot to introduce tourist tax after visitor levy proposed
Visitors staying in a hotel near Wembley Stadium following a gig or a match could find themselves paying a tourist tax, after the local council said it is exploring ways it could introduce a levy. A motion was proposed at a Brent Council meeting on Monday to seek ways to introduce a visitor levy on hotels and short-stay accommodation. Brent is home to Wembley Stadium, the largest stadium in the UK and the second largest in Europe, which attracts tens of thousands of fans to music concerts and various sports events throughout the year. As the national stadium of England and home to English football, it can fill 90,000 seats, selling out matches as well as hosting the likes of Oasis and Coldplay in upcoming gigs. The stadium brings economic benefits for Brent when fans flock to the venue, boosting the local economy by roughly £4.35m every time a non-sporting event is held. However, the large crowds also usher in increased noise, pollution, congestion and pressure on council services. To combat this, Brent Council is exploring ways of ensuring "the benefit of our world-class events are felt by all residents", according to the BBC's Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS). After Monday's discussion, the council ultimately passed the motion and is starting the next step of getting permission from the central government to impose a levy. Councillor Mary Mitchell added that London boroughs should take inspiration from other cities across the UK and Europe that impose visitor levies on tourists, to then reinvest in local infrastructure. She said that the money raised from such a levy could fund waste enforcement and improvements to parks and green spaces. However, the UK government at present has no law giving English local authorities the power to impose visitor levies. The LDRS said the council will write to the relevant Secretary of State requesting such powers to be bestowed. The council will also seek support from the mayor of London over a voluntary levy on stadium and arena tickets to fund cultural grassroots opportunities. While there is no official law in place in England, using legal workarounds has meant Liverpool and Manchester have introduced a form of tourism levy through initiatives run by hotels. Both Wales and Scotland's governments have passed laws allowing local authorities to introduce visitor levies, with Wales giving the go-ahead on 8 July for councils to start discussions to introduce these taxes by 2027. The Welsh levy will be set at £1.30 per person per night for visitors staying in various types of accommodation, including hotels and bed and breakfasts. If visitors are camping or staying in a hostel in Wales, councils will only be able to charge 75p per person per night. The charge will also only be applicable is the visitor is over 18 years old. Edinburgh became the first city to vote in January to add a five per cent surcharge on visitors' overnight stays by 2026. Glasgow then followed, giving the green light to introduce a tourist tax on accommodation in its city by 2027. The Independent has contacted Brent Council for further comment.

Development of 24 homes refused for a second time
A new proposal for a housing development in a village has been refused by planners at a council. The plan for 24 new homes in Glinton, near Peterborough, was put forward by the Rutland-based developer, Hereward Homes Ltd. Peterborough City Council refused the new scheme on Wednesday, following an initial application that was declined in December. According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), the case officer report stated the latest proposal was "near identical" to the last and would have a "detrimental impact" on the village's rural setting. The fresh application was put forward in March, which Hereward Homes Ltd said addressed the previous issues. The developer argued the proposed development demonstrated a "high quality of design" and would use materials appropriate to the character of the village. The application received objections from the council's conservation officer, urban design officer and five local residents. The area has been the subject of three applications for new homes in the past. All of them were refused for reasons including insufficient visitor parking and highway safety. In May, plans for 250 homes submitted by Gladman Developments were refused, which raised concerns with the parish council and residents. Another application by Larkfleet Group for 95 homes was refused in February following opposition from councillors. Bob Randall, the vice-chairman of Glinton Parish Council, previously told the LDRS of the village's concerns about the proposed allocation of 355 homes in the council's draft Local Plan. He said: "Glinton is getting a big chunk of the development that's being proposed for rural villages and that is really unsustainable." Planned data centre could create up to 1,000 jobs
Up to 1,000 jobs could be created by a new artificial intelligence data centre in North Lincolnshire. A planning application has been submitted for the "AI data centre campus" by the A15 next to Elsham Wolds Industrial Estate. It would cover up to 435 acres (176 hectares) of agricultural fields. According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS), construction costs are estimated as between £5.5bn and £9bn, excluding the cost of the computing equipment. The outline application suggests it could comprise up to 15 individual data centre buildings as well as a greenhouse complex and energy centre, the LDRS said. An estimated 2,600 to 3,600 jobs a year on and off site would be supported during the ten-year construction of the facility, according to the LDRS. A proposed energy centre on site would produce up to 49.9MW of electricity a year. Next to it would be a greenhouse complex, using waste heat from the cooling of the data centre buildings to grow agricultural produce. An economic report for the greenhouse predicts it could grow 4,728 tonnes of tomatoes a year supporting an estimated 64 jobs on and off site. There would also be a creche, café, gym and small shop which would be available to workers at the existing industrial estate. Last year, North Lincolnshire Council approved plans for a £2.2bn data centre by the A180 near South Killingholme, which it said would create almost 400 jobs. The application for the Elsham Wolds development is open for residents' comments until 26 June.
