Strictly's Wynne Evans admits to another mishap in latest update

Daily Record2 days ago

Wynne Evans has been axed from his BBC Radio Wales show after making an 'inappropriate and unacceptable' comment during the Strictly Come Dancing live tour launch in December.
Wynne Evans has candidly confessed to fans that he "messed up again" while sharing an update about his career, following his recent admission on social media. The radio presenter had previously informed his listeners that he would be departing from BBC Radio Wales after the station chose not to renew his contract.
The announcement of his removal from the daytime show came after he apologised for what he described as an "inappropriate and unacceptable" remark made during the Strictly Come Dancing live tour launch in December.

In a bold move, Evans has since declared he will be launching The Wynne Evans Show on a new app, describing the venture as both "terrifying" and "exhilarating" much to the delight of his supporters, reports the Mirror.

"Um, so the message stopped halfway through, so the headline is I'm starting my own radio station. Well, I'm taking my own show.
"It's going to be on an app. It's going to be on Alexa and Google. As I said, it feels so good to say that - to not have to say smartspeaker and supermarket - other places are available."
"Anyway, find out more by going to wynneevanshow.com. Go there, sign up to the newsletter, and I can't wait to be with you."
The BBC has confirmed that Evans will not be returning to his mid-morning show on BBC Radio Wales, stating "is not returning to the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Wales and there are currently no plans to work with him."

Evans, aged 53, faced backlash after being caught on camera making a sexualised comment at the Birmingham Arena during a group photo on stage. He expressed remorse for his actions, saying, "My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise," in an official statement.
The radio host reflected on his time with BBC Radio Wales, which began in 2016, describing it as more than just a job but also like "home" to him. Upon the announcement of his departure, he disclosed his plans to start The Wynne Evans show on a new app.

Evans's behaviour on Strictly Come Dancing also raised eyebrows among viewers, with some labelling his actions as "awkward". Notably, an incident occurred where his dance partner, Katya Jones, seemed to snub a high-five and moved his hand away from her waist during a live broadcast in October.
However, both Evans and Jones later explained that the incident was part of an ongoing "running joke" between them. Jones further dismissed claims that she felt uncomfortable or offended, calling such suggestions "complete nonsense".

In a recent interview with The Sun, Evans addressed the controversies stemming from his time on Strictly. He defended a particular sexualised remark, asserting it had been "taken out of context" and was actually related to a nickname for fellow contestant Jamie Borthwick.
He further elaborated on a past event where he sent a sex toy to Borthwick, confessing "that was a joke that went too far". On social media, after updating his followers about a new endeavour, the presenter received an influx of supportive messages.
Many admirers seem thrilled at Evans' new chapter.

Another shared their excitement: "Omg! ! This is amazing. I'm so happy! Well done Wynne!".
Someone else responded with encouragement: "Good on you fella! Been listening to you on the radio in the mornings and it's the only show I love!" In a similar vein, another fan added: "Brilliant news, I will be joining you as soon as you start. Good luck you have so much support."

Prince Harry's 'nonsense' plan for kids amid 'nail in coffin' decision

Royal expert Jennie Bond has questioned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reported plan they've hatched for the future for their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may no longer be working royals or carry out duties for the King. But the couple reportedly don't want to rule out their children opting to support the monarchy, despite their bombshell move to quit their royal roles. Insiders close to the Sussexes have said they want Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to retain their titles and HRH styles so they can choose to become working royals if they so wish when they are adults. It came after the source spoke out and claimed the Sussexes feared passports for their children were being held up due to the use of their royal titles. ‌ ‌ The couple are said to have been left exasperated as they waited months for British passports to arrive and reportedly believed it was due to the fact they included their children's royal titles on the application. But former BBC royal expert Jennie Bond has questioned why Harry and Meghan appear so keen to cling onto titles for their children - even though they have previously railed against the institution of monarchy. She told the Mirror: "I really don't understand why, having extricated themselves from a life they did not enjoy and in which Harry has publicly spoken of 'feeling trapped', they want to give their children the option of re-joining. It makes no sense. "Who knows what's going to happen in the future? But it's very hard to see how two children who are clearly now more American than British would want to change their whole way of life and become working members of the royal family." Archie and Lilibet got prince and princess titles when their grandfather King Charles became monarch in 2022. The first time their titles were formally announced was after Lilibet's christening in March 2023. Due to the reported hold-up in their British passports, it is said that Harry started to explore the possibility of changing his family surname to Spencer in a nod to his late mother, Princess Diana. ‌ And Jennie added: "I think Harry has always been more Spencer than Windsor, so if he was ever going to change his name, it would be to Spencer. "But this would be a final nail in the coffin of his relationship with his father and his brother. It would amount to a public declaration that he no longer saw himself as part of the royal family." There has been continued controversy over the Sussexes' HRH titles since the pair quit their royal roles five years ago. As part of their Megxit negotiations with the Palace, Meghan and the Duke of Sussex agreed to stop using 'Her Royal Highness' and 'His Royal Highness' at the end of March 2020. They still retain the styles, with Harry having had his since birth, but they are essentially held in abeyance. ‌ However, earlier this year, it emerged Meghan had used her HRH style on a gift basket sent to make-up entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima last year, with a monogrammed card reading: 'With Compliments of HRH The Duchess of Sussex'. Kern Lima showed an image of the present in footage of her podcast interview with Meghan. It contained a jar of Meghan's jam which she has started selling as part of her As Ever lifestyle business brand. A source described the basket as a 'personal gift'. The duchess's representatives denied that the couple used them, but a source later said that the Sussexes did not use HRH publicly but retained the style, and did not use it for commercial purposes.

Saturday Kitchen star shares struggle presenting live show viewers won't notice

EXCLUSIVE: Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tebbutt has opened up about all things to do with the hit BBC morning show - from his worst habits, to things he loves and finds most difficult about live TV Saturday Kitchen star Matt Tebbutt has spilled the secrets of working in live television - and opened up on the toughest part of the job. Despite revealing he relishes the challenge every week on the BBC show, Matt has admitted the crew face a number of challenges in a bid to make the long-running show continue to air smoothly. The 51-year-old chef has presented the weekend morning food show since 2017, when he took over from James Martin. And he has admitted that the crew are "like family" and are often met with many challenges, meaning they have to rehearse "a lot" despite it looking like they "wing it" at times. ‌ Speaking to the Mirror, Matt revealed the hardest part of his role: "On Saturday Kitchen, I have to cook a decent looking dish while interviewing the main guest and with the production team shouting in my ear about timings," he said. ‌ "My wife always says she'd struggle with any one of those things at a time, so she's quite impressed I can do all three at once. It can also be tough to keep it all fun and light, unless the guest is on board." And he also confessed he is often told his "worst habit" on screen is laughing too loud. "I don't put the plates down in the right way," he added. "[I also] pick on Helen when she talks about Rose. I don't pay too much attention to it ideally." But he explained he loves the "buzz" that comes with it. "At the end of the day live telly is great fun," he added. "It takes me back to working in busy London kitchens, you get the same sort of adrenaline rush. But luckily I don't have to work double shifts anymore for little or no reward!" Matt was speaking ahead of this year's Smoke and Fire Festival. The event will be at Ascot Racecourse on July 5-6, and at Promenade Park in Maldon Essex on August 16-17. ‌ Matt will once again be in attendance, this time featuring on both weekends. He admitted he is looking forward to being involved again, calling the decision a "no brainer". "The atmosphere's unbeatable," he gushed. "[It's] a proper gathering of people who love cooking over fire. You don't always get that kind of appreciation or excitement at other events. Also, the other chefs are brilliant — some I've known for years, others I met for the first time last year. ‌ "It's a great place to catch up, share ideas, pinch a few tricks off each other – and there's always something new to discover – a new rub, a new dish, a new drink." And he told festival goers to expect a "bigger and better" experience. "The team have promised us more food, more fire, and more variety," he said. "There's a strong South American focus this year and a partnership with Europe's largest Taco and Tequila festival - The Tacover – and my travels to Argentina really opened my eyes to that part of the world. "You can expect plenty of live demos, chances to chat with the chefs, proper smoky flavours, and a bit of theatre too." ‌ For his part, Matt revealed he will be bringing a number of his signature dishes as well as cooking some festival specials. What is he most looking forward to? "That moment when someone takes a bite and their eyes light up. You can't beat that. Oh — and sneaking off to try everyone else's food, obviously!" It's expected that over 5,000 burgers will be served across the festivals, really putting the palate to the test. There is also The festival's infamous wing challenge, The World Butcher Wars and British Open Freestyle BBQ Championships on show. Tickets for the event are currently on sale.

This Morning's Alison Hammond comically mimics Meghan Markle as she responds to pregnancy rumours

This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has spoken out after people speculated that she might be pregnant following a social media post TV personality Alison Hammond has shut down rumours that she might be expecting another child. The This Morning presenter shared her thoughts in a social media post, garnering reactions from her fans. At the age of 50, Alison, who has a 20-year-old son named Aidan Hammond from a previous relationship, took to Instagram to quash any idea that she was pregnant. The ex-Big Brother contestant and current partner to 27-year-old David Putman firmly denied pregnancy rumours in her update. ‌ Her statement read: "Lots of AI stories online about me being pregnant, I can confirm I am not having a baby as I'm not sure my 50-year-old womb could take it. However, I do think we should all dance like Meghan." ‌ Alison's post follows after Meghan Markle, aged 43, shared a joyous video dancing with Prince Harry, now 40, in anticipation of their daughter Princess Lilibet's arrival, who is four years old, back in 2021. The video was released in celebration of Lilibet's birthday just this past week. In the midst of these speculations, Alison comically mimicked Meghan, capturing herself dancing in her lounge to Baby Mama, the tune featured in Meghan's footage, thus humorously refuting the speculation regarding her own pregnancy, reports the Mirror. She further emphasised her point by sharing the clip to her Instagram Story with an overlay stating "fake news", adding in the caption for good measure: "I am not pregnant." Alison's pals and followers praised the video, with Jenni Falconer applauding: "You are just brilliant." Celebrities like Alexandra Burke and Dr Punam Krishan joined in, expressing their humour with laughing emojis. Amanda Holden, too, registered her delight with a triad of heart-eyed emojis in addition to a chuckling one. ‌ One supporter shared, " I love it." Echoing similar sentiments, another penned, "Just brilliant." A follower weighed in with, "Hysterical." Meanwhile, an individual envisioned: "You and Meghan dancing together would be the ultimate video. Make it happen, Alison." Meghan originally posted on Wednesday as a tribute to her youngest, Lilibet, on her fourth birthday. Her celebratory video depicted her dancing jubilantly beside a bed in a maternity wing, with Prince Harry by her side. Her accompanying caption read: "Four years ago today, this also happened. Both of our children were a week past their due dates... so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn't work, there was only one thing left to do."
