All 11 victims are expected to survive the shooting near a South Carolina party boat
A fight on board a boat where 120 people were partying over the holiday weekend led to a shooting where 11 people were hurt along the South Carolina coast, authorities said.
Only three of the people hurt in Sunday night's shooting remain in the hospital, and all are expected to survive, Horry County Police Chief Kris Leonhardt said during a news conference Tuesday.
The shooting happened on the dock in Little River along the Intracoastal Waterway as people were getting off the boat, Leonhardt said. Investigators believe only one person was firing.
Ten people were shot and one person was hurt when a speaker fell on their head, authorities said.
No arrests have been made. Leonhardt said many people ran for their lives when the gunfire erupted and were gone by the time officers arrived.
The chief refused to say what started the dispute on the boat and how it led to the shooting on the dock. He also would not say what kind of weapon was used.
'Items were recovered, but that's part of the investigation, and we don't want to release it at this time,' Leonhardt said.
Most of the victims were shot in the lower part of their bodies, Horry County Fire Chief Joseph Tanner said.
The shooting around 9:15 p.m. Sunday happened where a private charter boat docks for cruises. About 120 people and four crew members were on the packed boat, authorities said.
A flyer online advertised a party with a DJ on a three-hour cruise ending at 9 p.m. A woman who answered a phone number on the flyer told The Associated Press that she was distraught seeing her friends get shot, but then said she didn't want to talk anymore and hung up.
Someone who answered the phone at the company that owns the boat told the AP he didn't want to talk to a reporter.
About 3 miles (5 kilometers) down the Intracoastal Waterway, a North Myrtle Beach police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg as he tried to get a boat into the water to respond to the shooting scene, officials said.
Little River is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northeast of Myrtle Beach. The fishing village is known for its docks and marinas where fishing expeditions, casino boats and several dolphin cruises leave daily.
The investigation into Sunday's shooting has been made a little harder because many of the people on the boat were from out of town and detectives are trying to track them down, Leonhardt said.

Motel 6 tenant fatally shot after confrontation with Garland police and SWAT; second person found dead in hotel room
A Motel 6 tenant was fatally shot Wednesday afternoon after pointing a gun at Garland police officers and a standoff with SWAT, authorities said. Garland police were called to the Motel 6 located at 12721 LBJ Freeway for a "disturbance" between a hotel tenant and management. Officers said they tried to speak with the tenant, who pointed a firearm at them. Garland PD said the officers took cover, and due to the "high-risk nature of the situation," SWAT was called, detectives obtained a warrant for the tenant, and nearby hotel rooms were evacuated. SWAT team negotiators tried to communicate with the tenant, Garland PD said, but the suspect refused. Garland police said that after negotiation attempts failed, the SWAT team sent tear gas into the room and try to force the suspect to surrender. As SWAT team negotiators approached the room's window, the suspect confronted one of the team members with a firearm from inside the room, the report states. Garland PD said the officer fired his department-issued rifle and struck the suspect. The SWAT team then entered the room and found the suspect had been fatally shot. A second person, already dead, was found in the room. Garland PD said initial observations suggest the second person had been dead for "some time prior to the incident." No officers were injured, and Garland PD has not identified the suspect or the second person in the room. The Garland Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspect's actions and the death of the second person discovered in the room.

North Carolina law enforcement outraged over bond for suspect in house party shooting
NEWTON, N.C. — North Carolina local law enforcement expressed frustration on Wednesday that a man charged in connection with last weekend's shooting around a house party that left one person dead and 11 others injured had been out of jail for unrelated charges lodged against him in April. Garon Nathaniel Killian, 20, of Lenoir, was arrested Tuesday and accused of one count of attempted first-degree murder related to the shooting in a residential neighborhood about 7 miles (11 kilometers) south of Hickory. Killian remained in the Catawba County jail after a hearing Wednesday before a district court judge who said he could be released awaiting trial if a $200,000 bond was posted. Prosecutors had requested that no bond be allowed, media outlets reported.

1 teen wanted, another teen arrested in connection with fatal shooting in Norristown, Pennsylvania
One teen was arrested, another teen has an active arrest warrant and a third suspect is on the run in connection with the fatal shooting of a man near his home in Norristown, Pennsylvania, in May, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele and Norristown Acting Police Chief James Angelucci announced. Tahaj Harrison, 20, was shot and killed close to his home on Corson Street in Norristown on May 23. The Office of the District Attorney of Montgomery County said Norristown Police received a ShotSpotter notification of multiple gunshots fired in the area of the 600 block of Corson Street. Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene after police found him in the backyard of his home. The release said his home was a few houses from the shooting, where he had staggered before collapsing. Kaleem Roland was arrested on Wednesday on charges of first-degree murder, third-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, firearms not to be possessed by a minor and possession of a firearm without a license, officials said in the release. There is an active arrest warrant for Naseem Worrell, 17, in connection with the shooting. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. The DA describes Worrell as 5-foot-10 and weighing 150 pounds. He's considered armed and dangerous. In a joint investigation with Montgomery County Detectives and Norristown Police, they found video surveillance from the 600 block of Corson Street that showed three males walking on Corson Street shooting at Harrison, the DA said. The release continued, saying the detectives found Harrison's cellphone, six fired cartridge casings and two live rounds of 9mm ammo. "Ballistic testing found that the fired cartridge casings came from three different firearms," the DA said. Further investigation revealed that Harrison was targeted due to feuding groups, the Grimy Boys/6's, which the DA said Harrison belonged to, and the rival group All Black Bandits/300s, which Worrell belonged to. The release said that police are well aware of both groups. Instagram messages hours before the shooting were found by detectives between Harrison and Worrell about the ongoing feud, as well as an IG post by Harrison that Worrell thought was disrespectful about the killing of a member, the DA said in the release. The DA said the investigation also revealed that Roland, Worrell and a third shooter left the scene and went to a home on Oak Street, then went to another home in Norristown, then headed to Delaware County by an Uber that Roland ordered. Roland, who will be turning 16 Thursday, is lodged at the Montgomery County Youth Detention Center with a preliminary hearing for June 13 on no bail. Anyone with information about the third suspect, the shooting or Worrell is urged to call Montgomery County Detectives at 610-278-3386 or Norristown Police at 610-270-0977.
