Ambuja Cements share price gains 5% in trade; What's behind rally?

Ambuja Cements shares rose 5 per cent in trade on Tuesday, logging an intraday high at ₹562.5 per share on BSE. At 1:48 PM, Ambuja Cements share price was trading 4.13 per cent higher at ₹557.75 per share on the BSE. In comparison, the BSE Sensex was up 0.12 per cent at 81,993.66.
The company's market capitalisation stood at ₹1,36,223.04 crore. Its 52-week high was at ₹706.85 per share and 52-week low was at ₹452.9 per share.
What led to a rally in Ambuja Cements stock?
The stock gained after the company informed that it successfully commissioned a 2.4 Million Ton Per Annum (MTPA) brownfield expansion of a cement unit in Sankrail, West Bengal.
"We would like to inform that the Company has successfully commissioned 2.4 Million Ton Per Annum (MTPA) brownfield expansion of Cement Unit in Sankrail, West Bengal," the filing read.
Ambuja Cements Q4 results
Ambuja Cements, in Q4, reported a 9 per cent decline in consolidated net profit ₹956.27 crore, as compared to ₹1,050.58 crore reported during the same period last year. Sequentially, consolidated net profit more than halved from ₹2,115.33 crore.
Revenue from operations, however, grew by 11.6 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to ₹9,802.47 crore from ₹8,785.28 crore. On a quarter-on-quarter (Q-o-Q) basis, revenue rose by 16.5 per cent from ₹8,415.31 crore.
Total expenses, meanwhile, also grew 14 per cent at ₹8,821.70 crore, compared to ₹7,747.41 crore reported during the same period last year. Sequentially, expenses rose by 6 per cent from ₹8,347.68 crore in Q3 FY25.
Ambuja Cements' consolidated quarterly earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (Ebitda) were the highest at ₹1,868 crore, up 10 per cent Y-o-Y. However, the margin slipped to 18.9 per cent from 19.1 per cent during the year-ago period.

The 30-share BSE Sensex tanked 765.47 points or 0.95% to settle at 79,857.79. During the day, it tumbled 847.42 points or 1.05% to 79,775.84. The 50-share NSE Nifty dropped 232.85 points or 0.95% to 24,363.30. From the Sensex firms, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and Reliance Industries were among the laggards. However, NTPC, Titan, Trent, ITC and Bajaj Finserv were the gainers. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth ₹4,997.19 crore on Thursday (August 7, 2025), according to exchange data. Domestic Institutional Investors (DII), however, bought stocks worth ₹10,864.04 crore in the previous trade. The initial 25% tariffs announced by the U.S. on Indian imports came into effect Thursday (August 7, 2025). In Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 index settled in positive territory, while South Korea's Kospi, Shanghai's SSE Composite index and Hong Kong's Hang Seng ended lower. European markets were trading mostly in the green. The U.S. markets ended on a mixed note on Thursday (August 7, 2025). Global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.59% to $66.82 a barrel. US President Donald Trump on Wednesday doubled India tariffs to 50 per cent citing Russian oil purchase. Trump imposed 50 per cent tariff on India in two phases, a 25 per cent levy was first announced on July 30 and the additional 25 per cent announced on Wednesday. Trump signed an executive order - Addressing Threats to the US by the Government of the Russian Federation - imposing the additional tariff over and above the 25 per cent levy which comes into effect from August 7. The laggards among the 30-share BSE Sensex firms were: Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and Reliance Industries. On Thursday, the benchmarks slipped to three-month lows, after the initial 25 per cent tariffs announced by the US on Indian imports came into effect, heightening trade tensions.

GRSE Q1 Results: PAT surges 38% YoY to Rs 120 crore, revenue up 30%

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) on Friday announced its first quarter for FY26, posting a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 120.17 crore, up 37.8% YoY from Rs 87.19 crore in the year-ago period. The company's revenue from operations rose 29.7% YoY to Rs 1,309.87 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, against Rs 1,009.72 crore reported in the same quarter of the previous financial year. ADVERTISEMENT However, sequentially, the company's net profit witnessed a decline of nearly 51% from Rs 244.25 crore in Q4FY25. GRSE's total income surged 27.5% to Rs 1,382.41 crore in the June quarter from Rs 1,083.59 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. On a sequential basis, it was down from Rs 1,755.97 crore in the fourth quarter of FY25. For the quarter ended June 30, 2025, the company reported a debt-equity ratio of 0.012 times, showing a slight increase from 0.005 times in the same quarter last year. The debt service coverage ratio stood at 20.52 times, marginally lower than 21.83 times recorded in the year-ago period. Further, the earnings per share (EPS) also improved to Rs 10.49 from Rs current ratio rose marginally to 1.18 times compared to 1.14 times a year earlier.
