Nintendo Is Delaying the ‘Legend of Zelda' Movie, but Only a Little Bit
Hoping that you'll still be oohing and ahhing over your new Switch 2, Nintendo has a teensy little bit of bad news: the Legend of Zelda movie is being delayed. The good news is that it's not for that long.
Taking to Twitter rather than the Nintendo Today app this time, Shigeru Miyamoto released a brief statement confirming that Wes Ball's live-action Zelda movie will now release just over a month later than planned, on May 7, 2027.
This is Miyamoto. For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it…

'For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it can be,' the statement reads in part. 'Thank you for your patience.'
The release date, and now this changed one, is pretty much all we've definitively heard about the Zelda movie since its shock announcement from Nintendo and Sony Pictures back in November 2023. Although recently rumors have begun to swirl about potential casting, so much of just how one of the most beloved gaming series of all time is going to make the leap to live-action (outside of the occasional funky TV ad, that is) remains to be seen.
We'll bring you more on Sony and Nintendo's plans for the Zelda movie as and when we learn them.

BTS Almost Charts A New No. 1 Song In America
BTS is inching closer and closer to a proper reunion, which may result in new music arriving as early as late summer, or perhaps this fall. Two of the seven members of the group, RM and V, were discharged from the South Korean military this week, after completing their tour of duty, which is required of all men by a certain age in the nation. While the group is not fully formed just yet – but all seven singers will likely be finished with thor service soon – fans of BTS recently turned their attention to a years-old cut and almost turned it into a No. 1 hit in America this week. The boy band returns to the tally as "00:00 (Zero O'Clock)" reenters the list at No. 2, missing out on ruling by just one space. That position marks a new high point for the cut, which reaches its peak seven frames into its time on the tally — but years after it was initially shared on the septet's 2020 album Map of the Soul: 7. BTS is beaten to the summit on the World Digital Song Sales ranking by "Shake It to the Max (Fly)," which has become a global smash. The tune is credited to four artists – Moliy, Silent Addy, Skillibeng and Shenseea – and it has now spent three of its 12 frames on this tally running the show. While BTS doesn't manage to score a new champion on the World Digital Song Sales chart this week, the septet has already reached that coveted position dozens of times in the past. The South Korean musical troupe has thus far collected 37 No. 1s and a total of 117 top 10 smashes, including "00:00 (Zero O'Clock)." As BTS returns to the World Digital Song Sales chart, the group also claims one space on the World Albums tally. The group's compilation Proof dips one spot to No. 10, which means that troupe fills one space inside the highest tier on both of Billboard's world rankings as of this frame. Proof has now spent 156 weeks — exactly three years — on the World Albums chart.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON Director Says He'd Love to Do a Live-Action Sequel With Cate Blanchett Reprising Her Role — GeekTyrant
Writer and director Dean DeBlois has taken his beloved animated film series How to Train Your Dragon , and he has brought it to live-action. The first remake hits theaters this week, and DeBlois is already looking to the future of the franchise. When asked by ComicBook, at the film's red carpet premiere, about the possibility of a live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 , and if that could mean seeing Cate Blanchett return to the franchise as the character Valka, DeBlois said: "Well, I'm wishful as well. It's still early days. I think she is probably waiting for a script, but I've been knocking on that door. I wrote the character of Valka for her, so I told her it'll always be hers to turn down first." In the animated movies, the character Valka is revealed to be Hiccup's mother and Stoick's wife, who was taken by a dragon shortly after Hiccup was born and was thought to be dead. Two decades later, however, she accidentally crosses paths with her son and finally reunites with her husband. If she returns, Blanchett would be the second How to Train Your Dragon actor making the shift from animation to live action, with Gerard Butler having returned to the franchise to play Stoick, Hiccup's father, after voicing the character for a few years. Talking about the yet-to-be-confirmed sequel, DeBois also shared some details about the future of Toothless, as we see the beloved dragon maturing on screen. "We knew we were going to go there. The idea is that Toothless is roughly Hiccup's age in dragon years, so he is a juvenile, an adolescent, as well, aging into adulthood. That is going to alter his design in subtle ways, but mostly it's going to alter his mentality because he's a very sentient dragon. He has his own opinions about everything, and he'll also start to come into his own as a leader of his kind." Would you like to see the live-action How to Train Your Dragon universe expanded in sequels? The first film hits theaters this Friday.
