LIV Golf star Sergio Garcia snaps driver in frustration in final round of Open Championship
He shot a final round 68 and finished tied for 34th with Aaron Rai, Jon Rahm, Justin Thomas, Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Lee Westwood. He was 3-under for the tournament. However, Garcia did something those other golfers likely didn't do – finish his round without a driver.
The LIV Golf star snapped his driver on the second hole of his round and finished without it. He still managed to birdie the hole on his way to the 68. He had five birdies on the day to pair along with his two bogeys. Players are barred from replacing their clubs in the middle of the round.
He opened up about breaking the club after the round.
"To be totally honest, I didn't feel like I did that much on the 2nd tee," he said, via Golf.com. "Obviously, I didn't hit a good drive, and I kind of — I didn't smack it straight down. I kind of like swiped it back. I've done that 50 times, and I've never broken a club. The shaft just snapped in half, and I was surprised. I wasn't trying to break it, and I was actually surprised when I saw that — because usually, if it breaks, it breaks by the neck, and it broke in the middle of the shaft.
"I don't know, maybe the shaft had a little thing there because I didn't feel like with what I did it should have broken, but that's what it was, and then I got some good practice when I threw it."
Garcia's 34th-place finish was the best of the year in the major tournaments.
He missed the cut at the Masters and was tied for 68th at the PGA Championship.

Fan removed from stadium after racist abuse claim
A football fan was ejected from Bolton Wanderers' stadium after allegedly directing racist abuse at a player from an opposing team. Reports of the abuse came during the warm-up ahead of a pre-season friendly between Bolton and Preston North End at the Toughsheet Community Stadium on Saturday. A Wanderers statement said the club "unequivocally condemned" the alleged behaviour of the fan and said it was co-operating with "all relevant authorities" including the police. Preston said its staff were supporting the player affected and it was "grateful" to Bolton staff for taking "swift action". 'No place in football' Bolton Wanderers said in a statement: "We extend our full support to the affected player. "Such behaviour has no place in football or society; it stands in direct opposition to the values of respect and inclusion our club upholds." Bolton finished the tie 2-0 winners with goals from Amario Cozier-Duberry and Joel Randall. David Raya praises 15yo Arsenal duo Dowman & Salmon
David Raya has praised 15-year-old duo Marli Salmon and Max Dowman, after the pair made their pre-season debuts for the Arsenal first team this week. Photo via Dowman on Instagram Arsenal youth duo Marli Salmon and Max Dowman made their unofficial debuts for Mikel Arteta's first team in Wednesday's friendly match against AC Milan, coming off the bench to help the team see out a 1-0 win. Speaking in the days after that game, David Raya admitted he's been impressed with the youngsters on tour so far. 'I think the young lads (stood out to me),' Raya said. 'Obviously Marli [Salmon] and Max [Dowman], they're just 15 years old and they look like they've been with us for so many years. 'Such a young age to play with Arsenal, and to come on tour with the first team of Arsenal is incredible. So those two have been magnificent.' Photo via Despite being easily the youngest players on the pitch, Salmon and Dowman rarely looked it. The two were composed in possession, and Salmon showed his abilities off the ball up against some tough opponents. Arteta likely won't hesitate to give the pair further chances as pre-season progresses, particularly with Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber still not available for selection. Salmon will be needed to make up the numbers, if nothing else. Then with Noni Madueke not joining pre-season until Arsenal return from Asia, Dowman will be a useful option as an alternative to Bukayo Saka on the right. Photo via Premier League on Instagram The one other young player who was involved against AC Milan was Josh Nichols, coming on at right-back to replace Ben White. Nichols' situation isn't quite the same as the other two, as he's 19 years old (as of Saturday) and he already made his competitive debut for Arsenal last season. But the defender was still very impressive in his limited minutes against Milan, and he deserves credit for that after a while out injured. Nichols pointed out on Instagram that he'd had a four-month wait since his previous Arsenal appearance, but those watching all agreed he didn't look rusty.

Lewis Hamilton to start Belgian GP from pit lane after taking new power unit
Lewis Hamilton will start from the pit lane for today's Belgian Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion has endured a troubled weekend at Spa-Francorchamps and had been due to start 16th after he was eliminated in Q1. However, Hamilton's Ferrari team have confirmed he will start at the back of the pack after taking on a new power unit. Hamilton described his performances so far this weekend as 'unacceptable' after he started 18th and finished only 15th in the sprint race earlier and then failed to progress to Q2 in qualifying for Sunday's main event. Hamilton's best lap was chalked off by the stewards after he ran all four wheels of his Ferrari off the circuit at Raidillon. 'I don't agree (with the stewards' decision), but I'm out,' said the 40-year-old. 'It was another mistake from my side and I have to look internally. 'I have to apologise to my team because it is just unacceptable to be out in both Q1s this weekend. A very, very poor performance.' Hamilton is without a podium for Ferrari – the deepest he has ever gone into a season without a top-three finish.
