A new name was guaranteed to be added to the Under-12 Wally Doyle Memorial Cup before Saturday's exciting final in Grove Park, Kilmuckridge.
And Courtown Hibs were the ones left celebrating a piece of club history at the end, as midfielder Eoin Kelly kept his composure to grab the winning goal at the second attempt after a driving run from deep in the third quarter.

New Ross Swimming Club members make a big splash at gala in Bangor
Wexford People Today at 12:30 New Ross Swimming Club had a highly successful weekend at the Ian Wright Memorial Gala in Bangor, returning with a fantastic medal haul and a host of personal best performances. The two-day event featured top swimmers from across the country, and the New Ross team made their mark with both podium finishes and strong overall showings. Noah Cowman opened the club's medal account with a bronze in the 200m backstroke after a strong performance on day one. Lili Markey continued her excellent form with a silver in the 100m butterfly, followed by silver in the 200m freestyle and a stand-out gold in the 800m freestyle on day two. Luca Power was in top form throughout the gala, winning gold in the 200m, 100m and 400m freestyle events, along with a silver in the 50m skins and bronze in the 50m butterfly. Juliette Pac Kenny produced a great swim to earn bronze in the 400m individual medley. Emersyn Scully delivered a strong performance to secure silver in the 50m breaststroke. In addition to the medal winners, several other New Ross swimmers impressed with personal bests, consistent effort, and strong racing. Patrick Crouch showed excellent form across the weekend, achieving multiple personal bests and demonstrating great consistency. Loughlin Daniels, Eva Mullins and Katie Ryan also delivered solid performances, gaining valuable race experience and showing great promise for future meets. As the swimmers look ahead to the upcoming Summer Nationals competitions, this gala served as a valuable benchmark and a celebration of the athletes' hard work. Congratulations to all swimmers, coaches, and families – your dedication and team spirit continue to make the club and community proud.

North End United fight back to beat New Ross Town in thrilling Under-11 Cup final
North End United 3 New Ross Town 2 Wexford People Today at 10:30 North End United came back from two goals down to claim the Wexford and District Schoolboys Soccer Jack Carthy Under-11 Cup in Ballycullane on Monday. The Hollygrove boys found themselves two goals down to a superb Caitlin Kelly brace but battled their way back from the brink, scoring twice in a minute in the second period to take the title.

Wexford's ‘forgotten ones' to be honoured at annual patron in paupers' graveyard
Wexford People Today at 05:00 The annual patron at the Paupers' Graveyard, Coolcotts, Wexford will take place on Friday, June 6 at 7.30 p.m. The patron honours the memory of the Wexford men, women and children buried in the Paupers' Graveyard between 1852 - 1939. Many of 'The Forgotten Ones' buried in the graveyard were inmates of Wexford Union Workhouse - known today as the old Wexford Hospital. Also 27 victims of the 1859 'Pomona' shipwreck were laid to rest in the Paupers' Graveyard. 'Our committee is very grateful to Wexford's HFC Band with their musical director Dara Pender and Wexford Male Voice Choir with their musical Director Fiona Kelly who will be in attendance at the Patron,' said Helen Corish. Light refreshments will be served immediately after the ceremony at the nearby Coolcotts Community Centre, O'Leary Road and all are welcome.
