Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team loses to Chile in shootout after 2-2 draw in the Four Nations Tournament

New Delhi [India], May 30 (ANI): The Indian Junior Women's Hockey Team suffered a 1-3 defeat in a shootout against Chile after a 2-2 draw over four quarters in their fourth match of the friendly Four Nations Tournament in Rosario, Argentina, on Friday, according to a release from Hockey India (HI).
Sukhveer Kaur (35') and Kanika Siwach (47') were the goalscorers for India, while Jacinta Solari (27') and Captain Laura Muller (42') scored for Chile.
Chile opened the scoring in the second quarter, with Jacinta Solari converting a penalty corner in the 27th minute. India equalised five minutes into the third quarter, as Sukhveer Kaur also converted a penalty corner.
Chile regained the lead in the 42nd minute through a field goal from Captain Laura Muller. However, India started the fourth quarter strongly, with Kanika Siwach continuing her goalscoring streak by netting the equaliser in the 47th minute.
With neither side able to find a winner in regulation time, the match went into a shootout, where Chile emerged victorious, winning 3-1. Josefina Constanza Gutierrez, Isabel Leonor Messen, and Trinidad Antonia Barrios scored for Chile, while Sonam was the lone scorer for India in the shootout.
India will next face Uruguay on June 1. (ANI)

"Don't believe everything you see on internet": Shubman Gill ends rift rumours with Hardik Pandya
Mullanpur (Punjab) [India], May 31 (ANI): India Test skipper Shubman Gill put an end to speculation of any tension between him and all-rounder Hardik Pandya during the Eliminator in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday. There were rumours circulated on social media that GT skipper Gill didn't shake hands with Hardik during the time of the toss at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. Gill silenced the critics as he took to Instagram and wrote, 'Nothing but love (Don't believe everything you see on the internet) @hardikpandya95.' Chasing a mammoth total of 229 in the Eliminator, Gill was sent back to the pavilion after scoring just 1 run, whereas Hardik played a quickfire knock of 22 runs from just nine balls, which was laced with three maximums in his innings which came at a whopping strike rate of 244.44. Recapping the match, a brilliant half-century by Sai Sudharsan and his partnership with Washington Sundar went in vain as fine death bowling effort from the five-time champions helped the Blue and Gold franchise eliminate the 2022 champions from the competition with a 20-run win at Mullanpur. Indian sprinters win Silver at Asian Championships, secure spot at 2025 World Athletics Championship
Gumi [South Korea], May 31 (ANI): India's women's 4x100m relay team delivered a strong performance at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, clinching a silver medal with a timing of 43.86 seconds. The team--comprising Srabani Nanda, Abhinaya Rajarajan, SS Sneha, and Nithya Gandhe--finished second behind China, who took gold with 43.28 seconds. Thailand secured bronze in 44.26 seconds, as per a press release from the Athletics Federation of India (AFI). The result not only brought India a podium finish at the continental level but also secured the relay team's qualification for the World Athletics Championships to be held in Tokyo next year.
