H.B. Fuller opens manufacturing hub in Ras Al Khaimah

Zawya21-05-2025
H.B. Fuller, a leading global pureplay adhesives provider, officially launched its new regional manufacturing facility in Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and growth across the Middle East and North Africa.
The inauguration, attended by RAKEZ Managing Director Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, H.B. Fuller President and CEO Celeste Mastin, and over 50 key partners and suppliers, marked a major milestone in the company's regional expansion strategy.
Located in RAKEZ's Al Hamra Industrial Zone, the 15,000 sq m facility is equipped with advanced process control systems, modern mixing equipment, and bulk storage tanks. It is purpose-built to produce high-performance adhesives and sealants for construction applications such as building envelopes, roofing, infrastructure, and mechanical systems — while offering flexibility for future growth.
'The inauguration of our new manufacturing facility in the United Arab Emirates marks a significant milestone in our journey to support the region's dynamic construction sector,' said Mastin. 'Strategically located to serve our customers more efficiently, this facility underscores our long-term commitment to the Middle East. We are proud to manufacture in the region, for the region — delivering high-performance, reliable, and future-ready solutions.'
Ras Al Khaimah's strategic location, robust infrastructure, and business-friendly environment were key factors in H.B. Fuller's decision to establish its regional base in the emirate. The move enhances supply chain efficiency and supports the company's global strategy to build resilience and expand in high-growth markets.
RAKEZ Group CEO Ramy Jallad said: 'H.B. Fuller's milestone is also a clear reflection of the confidence international manufacturers have in Ras Al Khaimah. With manufacturing contributing around 30% to the emirate's GDP, our industrial sector is a key pillar of economic growth and diversification. We've built a thriving ecosystem that's home to a wide range of manufacturers across multiple sectors—from construction materials to advanced technologies—making Ras Al Khaimah an ideal launchpad for businesses looking to serve the broader MENA region. At RAKEZ, we're focused on enabling that growth by offering tailored support, efficient set-up processes, and a business-friendly environment that empowers global companies to succeed. We're excited to support H.B. Fuller as they bring advanced manufacturing capabilities to MENA.' – TradeArabia News Service

Railbus' crucial development hub in Dubai Silicon Oasis to be ready by May 2026

Railbus, a leading player in solar-powered, autonomous, and elevated transit systems, said it has made major progress on its new engineering and development hub at Dubai Silicon Oasis, and expects to complete the Railbus Development Hub (RDH) by May 2026. Now under construction, the RDH covers 50,000 square feet and will play a crucial role in the company's future plans when complete. Designed to accelerate the creation and deployment of sustainable, next-generation transport systems, it will serve as the backbone of Railbus' global operations. Dubai hub powers Railbus global vision Railbus is a start-up company that creates the first 100 per cent solar-powered mass transportation system. Registered in the US and headquartered in Dubai, the company said the RDH is purpose-built to support every stage of product development – from initial concept to final deployment. Anthony Joy, the Head of Engineering at Railbus, commented: 'This facility will not only centralise our engineering and production efforts but also create an environment where innovative ideas can move quickly from concept to reality. 'The RDH will give our teams the tools and collaborative space needed to deliver world-class sustainable mobility solutions.' The facility will feature several dedicated zones, including… Engineering and Design Centre: Supports full lifecycle management, including structural simulations and safety systems engineering. Assembly and Fabrication Zone: Equipped with modular production stations and advanced manufacturing tools for scalable assembly. Testing and Quality Control Lab: Built for comprehensive mechanical, electrical, and environmental system testing. Innovation Lab: A space for rapid prototyping, materials research, experimental design, and HMI development. Supplier and Integration Hub: Enables close coordination with clients and global subsystem partners. Showroom and Executive Boardroom: Designed for strategic presentations, vehicle displays, and investor engagement. Railbus has been in the news ever since Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced plans to introduce the system during this year's World Government Summit. RTA's plans include a transport system that will feature vehicles measuring 11.5 meters in length and 2.65 meters in width, with each unit carrying 40 passengers at speeds of up to 100kph. According to the Railbus website, the vehicles' lightweight design and flexibility will reduce infrastructure maintenance costs compared to Dubai's Metro track system. The network will be elevated and end-to-end 100 per cent congestion-free. It will be built with ultra-light non-corrosive composite materials, which will be non-disruptive to build and quick to set up. Individual sections will be fabricated off-site, minimising assembly time.

UAE: GEMS Education hires 1,700 school teachers ahead of new academic year

GEMS, one of the largest school groups in the UAE, welcomed more than 1,700 new teachers from a diverse range of countries in the new academic year. Schools across the country are set to reopen on Monday, August 25. With more than 600,000 applications received annually for approximately 2,000 vacancies, the UAE-based school group remains one of the world's most sought-after education employers. At its annual GEMS Awareness Day, held at Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, Chairman and Founder of the group, Sunny Varkey said, "We are not just growing. We are not just improving. We are not just leading. We are re-imagining education for a new generation." He reiterated that while technology and artificial intelligence will transform how children learn, the human connection between teacher and student remains irreplaceable. 'No machine is programmed to give our children the values and mindset to succeed and be a good person. No line of code can replace warmth and encouragement. And no artificial intelligence, no matter how advanced, will believe in you the way a teacher can. This is the power of human connection.' Teachers are the backbone At the annual induction programme, Dino Varkey, Group Chief Executive Officer, said, 'Teachers have always been and will always be the backbone of GEMS Education. Every year, we go to extraordinary lengths to recruit only the very best educators — those who share our vision for excellence, creativity, and student success. GEMS Awareness Day is a celebration of this culture, attracting top educators, fostering belonging, and reinforcing excellence across our network.' Meanwhile, Sunny Varkey reaffirmed his conviction that family must always come first in education, highlighting GEMS' BEYOND100, Determined Genius, Family First Café, and Parent 360 programmes as examples of initiatives that help nurture character, wellbeing, and lifelong habits for success. 'Our work is more than a job, more than a mission, more than a calling. It is a simple promise we must keep — to always put children first. No ifs and no buts,' Varkey added. Notably, in 2025, 250 students have been accepted into a Global Top 50 institution and 353 into Russell Group universities. Seven GEMS students have also been accepted into Ivy Leagues universities this year. Lisa Crausby OBE, Group Chief Education Officer, concluded by emphasising the role of teachers in turning vision into reality: "I am delighted to welcome this year's new intake of talented teachers to our GEMS family. The calibre, experience, and passion of our teachers make the real difference in our classrooms every day. With innovation at the heart of our work, I am confident we will continue to deliver exceptional outcomes for every child, in every GEMS school.'
