Chicago Fire fans left furious after ‘horrible' cast shake-up
Chicago Fire viewers are not happy about the departure of two main characters, calling the news 'horrible'.
The popular NBC show, which was created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, has become increasingly known for abruptly writing out certain characters since it started in 2012.
NBC has struck again – should the series return this September for its 14th run, it will reportedly no longer feature Daniel Kyri and Jake Lockett.
While Chicago Fire is yet to be officially renewed, it's been claimed that Kyri and Lockett's characters, Darren Ritter and Sam Carver, won't be a part of new episodes should the procedural continue.
According to Deadline, the decision is designed to save costs at NBC – and could be the first of a number of cast departures.
'As actor deals are getting renegotiated and renewal talks between NBC and producing studio Universal Television on the five Wolf Entertainment series for the network continue, there could be more exits across all five shows,' the outlet states. The Independent has contacted NBC for comment.
Kyri first appeared on the series in season seven, with Lockett joining in season 11. News of their reported exits from the show have been met with widespread frustration among the fandom.
'THIS SUCKS. I hate that these number one shows can't meet rising costs and peoples jobs suffer as a result,' one viewer wrote, with another saying 'the show should just end with all the good characters leaving'.
An additional fan called it 'horrible news' and chimed in on X/Tiwtter: 'WHAT!!?! I can't believe this!!'. Another stated: 'OK so I don't have a fave anymore, which means I don't need to watch.'
Others highlighted the fact that Carver's departure would mean the character of Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) will lose a love interest.
'I don't understand Chicago Fire writing out Carver after spending so much time setting up Violet/Carver. It doesn't make sense to me,' one fan complained.
In 2015, Russian Doll actor Charlie Barnett was written out of the show and, in 2022, he described it as a 'blessing in disguise'.
Barnett, who played Peter Mills, acknowledged that he was 'really sad at the time', but admitted that he reflects on the situation differently now.
'[The show] was a behemoth that I never really saw coming. I was thankful to be a part of it,' Barnett told Digital Spy. 'I really was sad to be let go. It broke me for quite a long time.'
He added: 'It was a blessing in disguise, and they all told me that. You never really see that in life, in general. You never see the bad moments becoming the good. It wouldn't be. It wouldn't be what it was, I think, if you did recognise it for what it is in the moment. So I'm thankful.'

Jeremy Clarkson reveals truth behind savage Clarkson's Farm 'editing mistake'
Jeremy Clarkson has addressed the strange editing blip featuring a rogue Rachel Reeves in the Clarkson's Farm finale. The Chancellor of the Exchequer made a fleeting cameo at the tail end of season four episode eight, Landlording, when she flashes up in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment at around the 41-minute mark holding of her holding the red briefcase (aka the budget). Since it is never addressed on the show, some believed it to be an unexplained, if not on-the-nose, editing mistake. In Reeves' October budget, she notably reintroduced the 20% inheritance tax on farmers' worth more than £1million, which has caused turbulence with the farming community with some claiming they would be forced to sell to afford the bill. Clarkson, who has been outspoken about his stance against the policy, has now doubled down by all but confirming the Reeves' cameo was purposeful. When one X user, HimWeitinga, asked: 'What kind of subliminal messaging is this?' alongside a snap of the photo of her holding the red box budget, Clarkson replied: 'She has f***ed the farmers.' Her episode feature is aptly timed as it comes alongside a narration from The Grand Tour star reflecting on the tough conditions farmers have faced this year. 'Tragically, we were not the only ones to be kicked in the teeth like this. Just about every farmer in the country was reeling because 2024 had been an absolute monster,' he explained. Before adding that they are pinning their hopes on 'next year's potential'. 'This mantra of stoic optimism is what keeps farmers going, fighting the odds, rolling with the blows, doing what they do to make food. And it's a mantra I realised I'd have to adopt,' he said. Then, as the photo flashed up, he declared: 'You keep going because you believe next year couldn't possibly be any worse.' The 65-year-old presenter – who has made clear that he doesn't rely on Diddly Squat for income – has joined tens of thousands of farmers across the country protesting the hikes in November. In a column for The Sunday Times last year, he wrote: 'I was overcome with something not far removed from fury. Because, if the word on the rural grapevine about a farmer's suicide is accurate, their policy, born of bitterness and envy, may already have tipped one man over the edge. And there they were grinning.' He scathingly added: 'I think history will see her as the most stupid, blinkered idiot ever to occupy No 11.' The fourth season of his hit Amazon Prime reality series continues to rake in impressive figures as it easily secured the number one spot in TV shows, averaging 4.4 million viewers so far, per Deadline. More Trending For those raring for more, season five has already been renewed and started production, although it is then taking a break with plans to return only 'if there was a reason for doing it, like a bloody good story'. Speaking to The Sunday Times, the former Top Gear presenter said: 'Whatever happens we'll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. 'We've been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest.' Clarkson's Farm seasons one to four are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now. According to court documents obtained by on Friday, Eady filed a $20million lawsuit over her portrayal on the show Thursday as she alleges defamation, emotional distress, sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. The suit is centered around a moment which aired in April on episode five of the current season 16 as it featured the moment when Kenya Moore reportedly showed explicit posters of castmate Brit Eady allegedly performing oral sex amidst filming in June 2024 as she has since claimed that it wasn't her in the images. Moore was then suspended 'indefinitely' from the series. However, she had stated that she was 'not going anywhere' and also called out the network for being a 'toxic environment.' In addition to Bravo and NBC production companies for RHOA, Truly Original and Endemol Shine North America, are named in the lawsuit as the castmember alleges defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false light and sexual harassment and hostile work environment. has reached out to representatives for Bravo, Eady, Moore, Endemol Shine North America and Truly Original for comment and have yet to hear back. The RHOA drama sent the season 16 reunion into chaos; Brit Eady, Phaedra Parks, Angela Oakley, Porsha Williams, Shamea Morton Mwangi, Drew Sidora and Kelli Ferrell seen above As Moore had been working for the network at the time, Eady is also suing Bravo by respondeat superior, which is a legal doctrine that holds employers responsible for the wrongful conduct of their employees. In the legal notice, Eady calls Moore's statements about her 'false, defamatory, harassing and damaging.' Eady also claims that the explicit images are not of herself and that she 'did not see the explicit photograph until after certain of these events were aired on Bravo nearly a year late.' The filing reads: 'Defendants willfully, intentionally, recklessly, and/or with gross negligence produced, edited, and aired an episode of RHOA on April 6, 2025 that included footage of certain of the cast member's statements at issue as well as commentary from other cast members that described the photographs displayed. 'Further, the manner in which the episode was aired falsely yet unmistakably implied that the graphic sexual photograph presented by the cast member depicted [Eady]. 'On information and belief, Defendants knew that the photograph did not depict [Eady], or, at the least, were reckless or grossly negligent in failing to learn that the photograph did not depict [Eady].' Eady also went on to allege that she had attempted to see the photo before the episode had aired but Bravo had 'refused' to show it to her. According to the filing: 'By the way of foregoing, Defendants contributed to the hostile work environment for [Eady] and sexually harassed Plaintiff by subjecting [Eady] to unwelcome, offensive, and sexualized behavior and comments based on her gender by requiring her to continue working in an environment in which she had been subject to a gendered attack, creating an inferior condition or privilege of employment because of her gender.' According to court documents obtained by on Friday, Eady (pictured) filed a $20million lawsuit over her portrayal on the show Thursday as she alleges defamation, emotional distress, sexual harassment and a hostile work environment The legal document concluded by requesting 'the immediate removal of the episode from public access on all platforms, networks, and media outlets in the Defendants' control,' along with a public statement acknowledging the episode shared a false depiction of Eady and a monetary reward that included the legal fees.' It also reads that if the defendants 'fail to appear,' Eady asked that a judgement be issued for 'the sum of not less than $20 million, with interest, and the costs and fees of this action.' The lawsuit was filed on the same day that the season 16 reunion was filmed which was thrown into chaos as Eady and Moore were not on set. Moore jumped to X to issue a statement to her followers and expressed she was 'disappointed' to not take part in the reunion while also issuing an apology. 'I'm disappointed to not be a part of the #RHOA 16 reunion taping today,' the TV personality began. 'Please know I take full accountability for my actions and deeply apologize to all those affected including Brittney, the cast, crew, guests and viewers.' The reality star then seemingly teased a possible return to the show by adding, 'I look forward to seeing you all back on Bravo soon.' Eady - who was also absent from the reunion taping - issued a statement of her own on her Instagram stories on Thursday. Brit confirmed that she was not making an appearance in the reunion - but also claimed that she was actually not in the explicit posters that Moore had shown. 'As everyone is now aware, I'm not attending the Reunion. This was my decision. The events of this season have devastated me.' She continued, 'And while I cannot say much right now, I do want to set the record straight about one thing: the graphic sexual photo surrounding the events in Episode 5. That photo was not me. Eady explained that she initially did not see the picture and was simply 'made aware' of the image being showcased at Moore's hair salon event. Brit wrote that 'based on what I was told, assumed that it was somehow a photo of me - which is why I reacted in the way that I did. Brit confirmed that she was not making an appearance in the reunion - but also claimed that she was actually not in the explicit posters that Moore had shown 'I do not know who was in that photo, but upon seeing it for the first time recently, I now know it was not me. I look forward to seeking accountability and moving past this dark part of my life. - Brit.' Sources informed TMZ that Bravo had wanted to film a one-on-one interview with Moore and Andy Cohen - which ended up not taking place. A separate insider told People that Eady chose to not attend the reunion taping while Moore was 'not invited.' Back in April, an episode titled About Last Night during the 16th season featured the moment when Moore had presented explicit photos which allegedly showed Eady performing oral sex. A message from the production appeared during the episode which read: 'Based on Kenya's behavior, the decision was made to cease filming with her this season.' The RHOA fan account @atlanta_housewives posted the message to Instagram and fans rallied behind Moore, with some calling her exit from the season 'unfair.' Eady had been feuding with Kenya since joining the reality series. In the episode leading up to the scene in question, Brittany seemingly threatened Moore not long after a group dinner. 'I don't play them games, I got whips, pistols, everything,' she had said at the time. The RHOA fan account @atlanta_housewives posted the message to Instagram and fans rallied behind Moore, with some calling her exit from the season 'unfair' In response while leaving the dinner, Kenya expressed: 'She talking about guns, she was talking about, "I still got my pistol on me." This girl is a problem. She gotta go, she gotta go for real, for real. Please let her do something to me, so she can go!' And during the specific episode of the incident, Moore celebrated the grand opening of her hair spa and some other cast members stopped by to help celebrate the big milestone. Eady also showed up with flowers as an apology for starting up a feud earlier in the season. However, Kenya notably did not accept the peace offering and said that Brittany was only using the situation for a 'moment' and insinuated the apology was not genuine. Moore then showed an explicit poster board at the event that allegedly showed Eady performing oral sex. The cast was left shocked over the move and Porsha Williams stepped out of the shop and stated, 'I want to just take my mic off. You can just act like I was never at this event.' The episode officially concluded with the message from the production that a decision had been that Moore would not film the rest of the season. The incident was first revealed last year in June when Kenya was suspended 'indefinitely' from RHOA following claims that she shared adult images of Eady - which she denied doing at the time. She took to her Instagram stories and wrote, 'Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. The truth always comes to light.' And in a separate post, Moore penned on X: 'I would never engage in revenge porn, I have never distributed private images, nor solicited images owned by others to use or threaten or blackmail. 'I have always been vindicated. I can't talk about STORY even with people planting fake news.' Eady also shared a statement on Instagram that read, 'It's never a good feeling being targeted or HAZED by someone I thought would embrace me into a new circle, that I never met. 'For the record, I've never once had possession of any weapons or threatened anyone ever. I am hurt by the narrative that's being displayed. Wrong is wrong.' After her suspension was confirmed, Moore called out Bravo for being a 'toxic environment.' And in a separate post, Moore penned on X: 'I would never engage in revenge porn, I have never distributed private images, nor solicited images owned by others to use or threaten or blackmail' She further shut down the claims on Instagram and revealed she has 'proof' for her defense. RHOA star Kelli Ferrell offered her thoughts about Moore's firing during an exclusive interview with last month in May. '[It was] surprising for everybody. I mean, who would've thought that that would be our final time in filming. 'I just felt like it was so many other things that we had left to discuss and talk about and connect on,' Ferrell added. 'I mean it's unfortunate. I think [for] all parties, it's just unfortunate.' Kelli also revealed she still will message Moore 'from time to time' and added, 'I love Kenya. I think Kenya is so amazing. I think she's such a boss. Me and Kenya had so many amazing things in common and I really wish her well. I really do.' Also in April, Moore took to her YouTube channel to address the 'revenge porn' incident and issued an apology; Kenya seen in 2024 in Atlanta The reality star also expressed that she 'hopes' Kenya can return to the Real Housewives franchise. 'I mean, Kenny and I had so many amazing moments together and I hope that we could film together again soon.' Also in April, Moore took to her YouTube channel to address the 'revenge porn' incident and issued an apology. 'It was wrong. I should not have done it at my salon I worked so hard for. I am very sorry that I shared the photos because it wasn't right. I did not break the law, and I'm very sorry for what I did...'
