In a change to the tight five, Jason Jenkins and Emile van Heerden swap jerseys in the lock position, with the former starting in place of the latter this week.
Am is over a hamstring injury and replaces youngster Jurenzo Julius, while Bok captain Siya Kolisi takes over from Phepsi Buthelezi after being rested for the match against the Scarlets.
Springbok centre Lukhanyo Am makes a welcome return to the Sharks team to play Munster in a United Rugby Championship quarterfinal on Saturday and earns his 100th cap in the process.

Openside flank James Venter returns to action after sustaining a neck injury against the Ospreys and takes over from Tino Mavesere.
In an important change at flyhalf, Jordan Hendrikse has recovered from a back injury to replace Siya Masuku, who suffered a hamstring injury in the Scarlets match to leave the Sharks thin in the position.
Although the Sharks have played in some tight games in the run-in to the knock-outs, captain Eben Etzebeth admits that this has been good preparation for this stage of the tournament.
'We've seen in the past that play-offs can be tight affairs, and winning tight games is something we've done a bit of this year,' he explains. 'Last year when we ended up lower on the log, we lost those tight games, but this year we've turned things around and won them.
'We're used to those kinds of games, but hopefully we don't make it that tight on Saturday.'
While his side is filled with Springboks, Munster come to Durban having proved their worth over the years and Etzebeth is under no illusions as to what is coming.
'They're a quality side and it's probably going to come down to discipline on the day and who has the better goal-kicker. It's going to be a very close game.'

Sharks coach Plumtree laments loss of Etzebeth for semi-final in season of too many disruptions
Sharks coach John Plumtree believes his team has shown massive improvement in the URC this season. Photo: Itumeleng English Independent Media Image: Itumeleng English Independent Media Last week, Sharks coach John Plumtree had no choice but to keep calm about the loss of influential captain Eben Etzebeth ahead of the United Rugby Championship (URC) semi-final against the Bulls, but after his team had lost 13-25, he admitted it had been a severe blow. Last Monday, Etzebeth took a head knock in training and was forced to withdraw from the semi-final. The loss of the most-capped Springbok of all time was exacerbated by the injury to another in-form lock in Jason Jenkins, who was injured in the quarter-final against Munster. Next Stay Close ✕ 'Eben is the best lock in the world as far as I'm concerned,' the Sharks coach said. 'He's our captain, and he inspires those around him. When he's in our group, it's probably a different pack, so it was a massive loss for us. "Jason, as well, has played so well this year. Two big men who carry really well for us and can win the ball.' With the Sharks' season over, Plumtree paused to reflect on a season that had some rough patches. But the Sharks hung in over the eight months of the regular URC season to finish third on the points table before running the Bulls close in a semi-final. This is not the result we wanted but I want to express my gratitude to our players, coaches and management for a season of growth and fight. I am incredibly grateful for all of the sacrifices made for our thriving business and fans. @SharksRugby 🖤 — Marco Masotti (@MarcoMasotti_) June 7, 2025 'There were really tough periods of the season, especially after the November internationals when we had tired Boks coming back. How we can compete in the tournament with players who have just played 14 internationals is a challenge. 'And then after Christmas, they go through their Springbok resting, and it's about navigating that period with the rest of the team. We also had 18, 19 injuries at one stage, which was a crisis. 'When you do finally get everyone back in, it's about where you're sitting on the log and how you can progress in two tournaments (the URC and Champions and Challenge Cups). The key for us is to make sure we have the depth in our squad to do well without the Springboks.' As disappointed as he was, Plumtree's wry sense of humour was intact. 'Coaching the Sharks is not for the faint-hearted; it keeps me awake at night,' he laughed. Ox Nche of the Sharks is tackled by Marcell Coetzee of the Bulls during their URC semi-final on Saturday. Evan Roos called up to Springbok squad
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus on Sunday added Stormers No 8 Evan Roos to his squad for the matches against the Barbarians and the Incoming Series, increasing the size of his group to 55 players. Roos, who attended the first alignment in Cape Town in February, has run out seven times in the green and gold. His last Test was against Portugal in Bloemfontein in 2024, before he was sidelined for several months due to shoulder surgery. On-field preparations The Springbok squad will report for duty in Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon and begin their on-field preparations on Monday, as the team gets the wheels in motion for the international season starting in under three weeks. The Springboks will kick off their season against the Barbarians in Cape Town on Saturday, 28 June, in the first ever match between the sides on South African soil, before taking on Italy in back-to-back Tests in Pretoria and Gqeberha on 5 and 12 July, and Georgia in Nelspruit on 19 July. With the Bulls and Leinster battling it out in the United Rugby Championship final at Croke Park in Dublin next Saturday, and Bath and Leicester meeting in the Gallagher Premiership final on the same day, the players will join the squad based on a staggered approach, until the completion of respective club commitments. Bulls No 8 Hanekom won't play in the URC final, Evan Roos called up to the Springbok squad
The Bulls' Cameron Hanekom suffered a match-ending injury in the URC semi-final against the Sharks at Loftus Versveld on Saturday. Photo: Itumeleng English Independent Media Image: Itumeleng English Independent Media As the dew was settling on the Bulls' United Rugby Championship semi-final defeat of the Sharks, a disconsolate Cameron Hanekom was hugged by his teammates as he hobbled on crutches, his right leg heavily strapped. It was poignant to see the Bulls players commiserating with the young No 8 who has to live with not participating in this week's final against Leinster in Dublin. The big question now is how long the URC Player of the Year finalist will be out of rugby with the Springbok season looming. Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has moved swiftly to address the loose forward situation, calling up Stormers No 8 Evan Roos to cover for Hanekom for the match against the Barbarians in Cape Town on June 28, and the two-Test series against Italy. Bulls coach Jake White provided some clarity on Hanekom's injury, which occurred in the 47th minute of the closely fought contest. Hanekom was cleared out a ruck by Sharks captain Siya Kolisi. He clutched his hamstring in pain and was in discomfort as he left the field on a golf cart. 'Cameron is being given a probe. Obviously, he's very upset, which is natural. He is quite down,' White said. 'I told his parents earlier in the change room that they must remember he is 21-years old with a long future ahead of him. People forget how times have changed in rugby,' White reflected. 'When I started coaching (in the late 90s), 21-year-old forwards weren't invited to Bulls training. The Stormers' Evan Roos will replace Cameron Hanekom in the Springboks' squad. Photo: Backpagepix Image: Backpagepix 'If they were, it was generally for the old men to bash them on a Monday night at training. 'Cameron has obviously jumped the line because he is so talented, and he feels a bit down now, but we must not forget that he's just 21. There's still a lot of rugby that he's going to be involved in over the next couple of years.' White is hopeful that Hanekom's injury isn't as serious as it appears but confirmed that he won't play in the final. 'When it is swollen and there's blood on it, it is tough to see,' White said. 'They had a look and he won't play against Leinster, that I can tell you.
