In corporate announcements, Saudi Arabian Mining Co., known as Ma'aden, recorded a net profit of SR1.92 billion in the second quarter of the year, up 87.7 percent from SR1.02 billion in the same quarter of 2024.
The company attributed the sharp rise in quarterly profit to an SR1.34 billion increase in gross profit, driven by higher sales prices and volumes across the phosphate, aluminum, and gold business units.
Additional contributors included improved earnings from joint ventures and associates, reduced finance costs, and lower zakat, tax, and severance expenses.
National Gas and Industrialization Co. reported revenues of SR1.57 billion for the first half of 2025, marking a 16.9 percent rise from SR1.35 billion in the same period last year.
The revenue increase was largely driven by a SR227 million rise in gas sales, due to higher gas prices and volumes, according to the company's financial report. Additional boosts came from increased sales of empty cylinders by SR6.5 million and other services by SR8.9 million. This came despite a SR14.4 million decline in commercial project revenues.
National Gas and Industrialization Co.'s share price climbed 0.92 percent to SR76.7.
Obeikan Glass Co. posted a net profit of SR10.86 million in the second quarter, reflecting a 4.1 percent decline from SR11.33 million in the same period last year.

Obeikan Glass Co.'s share price rose 0.44 percent to SR31.66.
Al Hammadi Holding reported a net profit of SR61.96 million in the second quarter, marking a 47.4 percent decline from SR117.87 million in the same quarter of 2024.
The company attributed the year-on-year drop in net profit to a one-off SR55.27 million gain realized in the second quarter of last year from the sale of a vacant land plot in Riyadh's Al-Rayyan district.
Al Hammadi Holding's share price fell 4.44 percent to SR34.88.
Savola Group reported a net profit of SR105.7 million in the second quarter, down 21.9 percent from SR135.4 million in the same period last year.
The firm attributed the year-on-year decline in reported net profit primarily to the absence of a SR210.8 million share of profit from its previously distributed investment in Almarai and SR23.1 million in discontinued operations, which were recorded in the same period last year.
Savola Group's share price decreased by 1.77 percent to SR24.4.

Riyadh Air Signs Global Distribution Deal with Spain's Amadeus to Fuel Expansion Plans

Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's new national carrier and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund, has signed a global distribution agreement with Spain-based Amadeus, a leading travel technology provider. The strategic move will give the airline access to one of the world's largest networks of travel agents, bolstering its growth strategy and supporting the Kingdom's transformation drive under Vision 2030. According to an Amadeus statement issued Thursday, the partnership will enable Riyadh Air to join the Amadeus Travel Platform, connecting it with travel agents and distributors in over 190 countries. The agreement is aimed at ensuring the airline's offerings reach travelers worldwide, enhancing Saudi Arabia's appeal as a global tourism destination and reinforcing its role as a central hub for aviation and travel. Vincent Coste, Chief Commercial Officer of Riyadh Air, said the company's mission is to build a world-class airline that embodies Saudi Arabia's ambitions. He added that the partnership with Amadeus provides the global reach, distribution strength, and retailing capabilities needed to achieve the airline's goal of serving more than 100 destinations by 2030. 'This collaboration is not only about enabling seamless travel experiences,' Coste said, 'but also about contributing to the broader national vision of diversifying the economy, growing tourism, and enhancing global connectivity.' The agreement also covers the future distribution of Riyadh Air's content through Amadeus' New Distribution Capability (NDC) framework, giving the airline greater ability to offer dynamic, personalized deals to travelers while maintaining stronger control over indirect sales strategies. These advanced capabilities will help Riyadh Air deliver a modern, flexible, customer-focused retail experience. Maher Koubaa, Executive Vice President for Travel and Managing Director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Amadeus, described the deal as a milestone in the development of Saudi Arabia's aviation sector. He said the launch of Riyadh Air marks a significant moment for the Kingdom's aviation industry, and that Amadeus brings not only global reach but also advanced retailing, marketing, and data analytics tools to help the airline compete internationally. Founded in 2023 under the patronage of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Riyadh Air is a key part of Saudi Arabia's strategy to diversify its economy, invest in tourism and infrastructure, and position the Kingdom as a global aviation hub. Backed by the Public Investment Fund, the carrier is expected to contribute more than $20 billion to Saudi Arabia's non-oil GDP and create over 200,000 direct and indirect jobs in the domestic market.

International Falcon Breeders Auction draws experts from Kingdom and abroad

RIYADH: The International Falcon Breeders Auction 2025, which is taking place at Malham, north of Riyadh, is aiming to boost the falcon-breeding industry in Saudi Arabia by drawing experts from the Kingdom and abroad. The event provides a competitive platform from which falconers can explore the latest breeding and hybridization techniques and exchange expertise with breeders worldwide. The auction is known to draw eye-watering sums for the best birds, with some fetching upwards of SR375,000 ($100,000). Last year's auction raised a total of SR10 million after 866 falcons were sold. Falconer Hamad bin Mislih Al-Qahtani told the Saudi Press Agency that falconry in the Kingdom had made significant strides over the past five years, thanks to direct interaction with international farms participating in the auction. Such engagement, he said, had exposed local falconers to superior bloodlines and modern methods that enhanced falcons' speed and hunting skills. Saudi falconer Badr Al-Aradi spoke to the SPA about his peregrine called Salman, reportedly one of the finest specimens produced by a Saudi farm, with an entirely local lineage resulting from the mating of two pure peregrines. The bird weighs 1,090 grams, measures 17 cm in length and 16.5 cm in width, with a balanced build and exceptional acrobatic capabilities. Al-Aradi noted that his falcons typically avoid leaving the farm's provided shelters, which had prompted him to develop a tracking device to monitor their movements. He added: 'I was surprised to find that Salman travels long distances daily. On one occasion he flew 606 km in just eight hours, starting from Turabah, passing through Qassim, then returning to Hail — soaring at altitudes exceeding 3,600 meters.' He said that Salman's feat occurred at the age of less than three months, demonstrating remarkable endurance and sustaining flight despite high temperatures — an uncommon achievement for a young peregrine. The event, which runs until Aug. 25, is organized by the Saudi Falcons Club, and is open daily from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Visitors and enthusiasts can follow the proceedings live on television and the official digital platforms of the Saudi Falcons Club. The event includes pavilions for breeders, an auction yard, supplies stores, and a special corner for the Future Falconer children's area. There are also a number of interactive presentations by falconers on care and breeding methods.

Saudi Arabia leads Pakistan's July worker remittances as inflows hit $3.2 billion

KARACHI: Saudi Arabia was the top source of Pakistani workers' remittances in July, as overall inflows reached $3.2 billion, up 7.4 percent year-on-year, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said on Friday. Remittances are a key pillar of Pakistan's external finances, providing hard currency that supports household consumption, helps narrow the current-account gap and bolsters foreign exchange reserves. The steady pipeline from Gulf economies, led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, has remained crucial for Pakistan's balance of payments. The SBP said July inflows were 'mainly sourced from Saudi Arabia ($823.7 million), United Arab Emirates ($665.2 million), United Kingdom ($450.4 million) and United States of America ($269.6 million).' 'Workers' remittances recorded an inflow of $ 3.2 billion during July 2025,' the central bank said in a statement. Pakistan received a record $38.3 billion in workers' remittances during the last fiscal year, reporting an increase of about $8 billion over a 12-month period that exceeds the country's ongoing $7 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan program. According to the State Bank of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia led all contributors during FY25, with remittances totaling $9.34 billion, followed by the United Arab Emirates at $7.83 billion, the United Kingdom at $5.99 billion and the United States at $3.72 billion. Remittances from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries excluding Saudi Arabia and the UAE totaled $3.71 billion, while EU countries contributed $3.53 billion. Economists say remittances function as a stabilizer for Pakistan's economy, helping millions of households manage expenses while giving policymakers breathing room during periods of tight external financing conditions. With traditional sources in the Middle East still accounting for the bulk of transfers, the trajectory of regional labor demand remains central to Pakistan's outlook on remittance flows.
