Two people dead after vehicles collide head-on near Shelburne, N.S.

Two people are dead after two vehicles collided and one caught fire near Shelburne, N.S., Monday afternoon.
The RCMP responded to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 103 around 1:15 p.m.
Police say a black Volkswagen Jetta and a yellow Ford F-150 collided head-on. The Ford was engulfed in flames and the Volkswagen was badly damaged when first responders arrived on scene.
The driver of the Volkswagen, a 42-year-old woman from Clyde River, and the driver of the Ford, a 32-year-old man from Williamswood, both died at the scene. They were the only people inside the vehicles.
The RCMP says a collision reconstructionist and Nova Scotia Department of Public Works attended the scene.
'The investigation is ongoing with support from the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service,' said police in a news release.
'The Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration was notified because a work vehicle was involved.'
The RCMP and the labour department are both investigating the collision.
The highway was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
Meanwhile, police are asking anyone with information about the crash or dashcam footage of the vehicles before the collision to contact the Shelburne RCMP Detachment at 902-875-2490 or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
