Rajasthan Royals pick Nandre Burger as injury replacement for Sandeep Sharma
Jaipur, May 8 (UNI) Rajasthan Royals have signed South African pacer Nandre Burger as an injury replacement for Sandeep Sharma for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.
Sandeep played the first 10 matches of IPL 2025 for the Royals and picked up nine wickets at an average of just over 40. His best figures of 2/21 came against the Punjab Kings.
However, Sandeep sustained a finger injury while attempting to stop a powerful drive from Shubman Gill off his own bowling during RR's match against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 28.
The 31-year-old right-arm pacer, however, bravely completed the final eight deliveries of his spell in the match. He underwent scans later, which confirmed a fracture and ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
Left-arm pacer Nandre Burger is a full-fledged international for South Africa and has represented the Proteas in all three formats of international cricket. He has played 69 T20s in his career, picking up 77 wickets.
Burger has previously played for RR in IPL 2024, where he picked up seven wickets from six games.
He joins RR for INR 3.5 crore.
The 29-year-old Burger is the second South African added to the RR squad. Earlier on Thursday, Lhuan-dre Pretorius was named as an injury replacement for Nitish Rana.
RR have two matches left to play in the IPL 2025 league stage. They will face CSK in Chennai on May 12 before returning home to Jaipur to host Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium for their final game of the season.

Meet cricketer who decided to play for his country and lead his side in Class 6th, wrote it down on the paper about, his name is.....
In 2001, Temba Bavuma, a sixth-grade student in Cape Town, South Africa, got a project—'Where do you see yourself in the next 15 years?' Bavuma wrote in it that he sees himself shaking hands with the then President, Mr. Mbeki, who is congratulating him for building a great team. This dream written in childhood also got a place in the school magazine. Temba had also written that if he reaches this point, he will be grateful to his coach, parents and especially two uncles. People did not take his childhood dream seriously until he scored his first Test century for South Africa in 2016. He became the first black South African to do so. Now Temba Bavuma is the captain of South Africa's white ball cricket team. He is leading the team and recently led the team in the ODI series against India. Bavuma has played only 16 ODIs so far but he has 47 Test matches to his name. He has impressed everyone with his leadership skills in the limited overs format as well. However, now it is expected from him that he will raise the South African team from the tag of chokers and win ICC tournaments.

MI New York vs Texas Super Kings match prediction, MLC 2025: Who will win between NY vs TEX in California?
MI New York (NY) will embark on a fresh journey under new captain Nicholas Pooran when they take on Texas Super Kings (TEX) in the second match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) at the Oakland Coliseum in California on Friday (June 13). Both MI New York and Texas Super Kings didn't had the best of the campaigns last year and would like to change their fortunes this season. While Texas Super Kings finished third on the points table with just three wins from seven games, MI New York finished a place below with just two wins in their kitty from the same number of games. MI New York were dealt with a heavy blow ahead of the season after the Afghanistan duo of Rashid Khan and Azmatullah Omarzai opted out of the tournament. However, Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq is available for selection. On the other hand, Texas Super Kings will be relying on their big three - Devon Conway, Faf du Plessis and Daryl Mitchell - at the top of the batting order. South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira will be a threat to the opposition in the middle order along with Marcus Stoinis. Among the spinners, Afghanistan's Noor Ahmad will look to continue his rich form which he showcased in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League. However, West Indies' Akeal Hosein will be unavailable at least for this game due to national duty. Venue: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland. Match Time: 6:30 AM IST (June 14) | 6:00 PM Local | 2:00 AM BST MI New York: Monank Patel, Quinton de Kock (wk), Nicholas Pooran (c), Kieron Pollard, Michael Bracewell, Nosthush Kenjige, Trent Boult, Heath Richards, Tajinder Dhillon, George Linde, Ehsan Adil Texas Super Kings: Devon Conway, Faf du Plessis (c), Marcus Stoinis, Daryl Mitchell, Milind Kumar, Shubham Ranjane, Zia-Ul-Haq, Donovan Ferreira, Adam Milne, Noor Ahmad, Mohammad Mohsin Wicketkeepers: Nicholas Pooran (C), Quinton de Kock, Devon Conway Batters: Faf du Plessis, Kieron Pollard All-rounders: Marcus Stoinis (VC), Darly Mitchell, Michael Bracewell Bowlers: Noor Ahmad, Adam Milne, Trent Boult According to Gemini, both teams boast a strong line-up with some of the best power-hitters in the world cricket currently. "Given the head-to-head dominance, a balanced squad, and a strong spin attack, Texas Super Kings are often favored to win this match. 'Their ability to set or chase high totals on a batting-friendly pitch, coupled with their bowling depth, gives them an edge. However, MI New York, with the likes of Nicholas Pooran and Quinton de Kock, has the potential for explosive batting, and if they fire, they can certainly challenge the Super Kings. 'Overall, it's expected to be a high-scoring game, with Texas Super Kings having a slight advantage,' predicted Gemini. On the other hand, Dream11 prediction said MI New York have slight advantage over Texas Super Kings. 'Both teams are good, but Texas Super Kings might lack with their bowling resources. MI New York have all bases covered in both departments. That is why we predict them to win this game,' Dream11 predictionit said.
