MORE than 100 boats are expected to line up in Cowes tomorrow (Friday, June 27), to take part in this year's Morgan Cup Race to the Channel Islands.
The 110 to 160-nautical mile course, which starts at 1.10pm, will see racers begin at Cowes and finish at Guernsey.

The RORC fleet will be in the starting area from about midday, with excellent views on Cowes Parade.
The course is described as fairly straightforward. However, competitors will have to avoid the Casquets TSS, northwest of Alderney, as well as the rocks and tides around the Channel Islands.
How to Follow the Race
• Race Tracking — all boats are equipped with YB Trackers. Follow live at: https://yb.tl/morgancup2025#
• Results and updates — real-time results via www.SailRaceHQ.com
• Social media — use #RORCRacing to follow across Facebook, Instagram and X.
The Morgan Cup Race is the tenth race of the Royal Ocean Racing Club's Season's Points Championship, the world's largest offshore racing series.

It is also the fourth race of the Cowes Offshore Racing Series.
The event will see more than 100 boats, with crew from 24 different nations, line up on the Cowes Yacht Squadron Line.
St Peter Port in Guernsey provides the finish line, with boats expected to cross the line in sight of Castle Cornet.
The Morgan Cup Race is described as one of the more unusual Royal Ocean Racing Club races.
This is because while it is run by the RORC, all the trophies, including the Morgan Cup Trophy, donated in 1929 by a member of the JP Morgan banking dynasty, are awarded by the Royal Thames Yacht Club.

Murray helps Guernsey FC to Seaford Town win

Sam Murray marked his 100th Guernsey FC appearance with the only goal as the Green Lions beat Seaford Town 1-0 in the Southern Combination Premier Division. The victory was the island side's second in successive league games since relegation in April. The win means Guernsey are one of five sides in the 20-team division to have won their opening two matches. Callum Le Lacheur had the best chance of a scrappy first half before Guernsey improved after the break. Murray saw an effort from Brandon Wallace's cross go over the bar 10 minutes after the restart while Ross Allen went close before the deadlock was broken with 16 minutes left. Murray finished through the goalkeeper's legs after being put through by Tom Vaudin. The hosts ended the game with eight men after red cards in the final five minutes for Josh Bradley and Tom Shelley after bad tackles before skipper Matt Simpson was sin-binned. Guernsey's next game sees them travel to AFC Varndeanians on Monday night. Related internet links Guernsey FC

Richardson impresses Jersey boss after Guernsey display

Jersey boss Paul Hutchison says George Richardson has done his best to force his way into the side after his five-wicket haul against Guernsey. The 20-year-old tore into the Sarnian batters with figures of 5-38 as Guernsey were bowled out for 150 in 43 overs. Jersey went on to reach their target in just 25.2 overs to record an eight-wicket win away from home. "He's been on the edge of the squad for a while, he's been chomping at the bit to get in," Hutchison told BBC Radio Jersey. "He was in Holland with us and he's been part of the A team stuff that we did over in England in London probably six weeks ago. "So he's really been pushing hard and he impressed with the way he went about his business. "He kept it pretty simple and that was enough." Richardson was part of Jersey's squad at the recent T20 World Cup qualifiers - but did not play a game as the islanders registered a historic win over Scotland but finished one place off making the 2026 T20 World Cup. But Richardson could well feature in the ICC Challenge League tournament that the island will host later this month. Jersey top their division after the first round of 50 over matches and would progress to the next stage of qualifying for the Cricket World Cup if they can top the group after the final round next year. "I think we're in a healthy place, the competition for places is strong," Hutchison said. "We've got a tournament starting in just under two weeks and we can pick 14 and I'm probably picking from a very strong 20 of the inner circle. "So there's going to be lads out there who are going to be disappointed. "But ultimately, if I've got those kinds of headaches, then Jersey's in a good spot, it's better than the other way around."

Jersey Bulls boss grateful for stand-in keeper Jinadu

Jersey Bulls manager Elliot Powell says he is grateful to goalkeeper Daniel Jinadu for helping the club in their first-ever game in the Isthmian League. The 23-year-old former West Ham and Barnsley youngster was called into the starting line-up for the 1-1 draw with Margate with less than an hour's notice. Jersey registered the goalkeeper, who has played non-league football for Welling United and Dover Athletic, after first-choice goalkeeper Euan van der Vliet was injured on Thursday. "Euan tried it in the warm-up and wasn't fit, so we'd pulled Daniel in at last minute on Friday," Powell told BBC Radio Jersey. "We've got our number two keeper at home Pierce (Roche), but Pierce had an important game for St Clement and I think a lot's been said about the relationship between Jersey Bulls and local clubs. "It's really important for us that we didn't impact a local club through no fault of their own less than 24 hours before an important game for them and respect the local game as well." Despite meeting his team-mates and coaches for the first time just a few hours before kick-off, Powell said he was impressed by London-based goalkeeper. "We brought in Daniel as a cover and credit to him, he doesn't know anyone here, he's never met anyone before he came down today," Powell added. "But he was willing to give up his afternoon move things around for us, driven down, turned up, met a bunch of strangers and then 20 minutes into meeting us he's actually starting. "I thought he did well, I thought he came and claimed crosses, a little bit of maybe ring rust there a couple of times with the ball dropping and stuff, but I thought he was really good, really composed and brought a sense of calm to a back line that was under siege at times, but stood firm and got us the point in the end. "We didn't know what we were going to get as a keeper and I'm very happy with how he's performed." Related internet links Jersey Bulls
