A lifelong dream of 25 nomadic families comes true
A Revanth Reddy, who launched the Indiramma Housing Scheme to provide homes to the most marginalised. In the scheme's first phase, Telakantigudem was sanctioned 107 houses, including all 25 Vaddera families. Their joy is evident as construction begins.
Renuka Komarraju, a stone-breaker and mother of two, said: 'We've lived under a tarpaulin sheet on government land for 10 years. When it rains or storms, we run home from work to fix our hut. We applied many times for a double-bedroom house but never got it. This time, the government sanctioned us a house on the same land. We've already finished the basement and received `1 lakh from the government. It has reached roof level now. This monsoon, we won't have to worry. We can finally go to work in peace.'
Shobha Rani, a postgraduate beneficiary who works as a daily wage labourer, said, 'Our old hut burned down, and we've lived in one room at my brother's house for 12 years. When I heard about the Indiramma scheme, I applied and was sanctioned a house. We've begun construction and received `1 lakh after completing the basement. For us, this is a lifelong dream coming true.'
Interestingly, many of the beneficiaries are building their homes on government land. In three locations across Telakantigudem, clusters of Indiramma houses are rising — 22 in one spot, eight in another — while others are constructing on their own plots.

Congress promises Indiramma houses for every village
Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday said that just like there was no village in Telangana without a Hanuman temple, the Congress govt will ensure that there will be no village in the state without Indiramma houses. He termed BRS MLC K Kavitha's letter to her father and the following developments, like staging dharnas and strengthening Telangana Jagruthi, as a storm in a teacup. "Kavitha is doing all this as part of a family drama to stay relevant on the political turf of Telangana and gain control of BRS party affairs. The Congress is least bothered about the Kavitha-KCR family drama," he said. Mahesh Kumar said that the PC Ghose commission can call anyone to appear before it if it thinks they were connected to the Kaleshwaram irrigation project case. "KCR spent people's money like water on Kaleshwaram. The people, particularly farmers, would have been happy if the previous BRS govt gave water from the Kaleshwaram project, on which it spent nearly 1 lakh crore," he claimed. Later, Mahesh Goud, along with AICC in charge of Telangana Meenakshi Natarajan, held a meeting with party coordinators and PCC observers for the Jai Bheem, Jai Bapu, and Jai Samvidhan programme of the AICC. IT minister D Sridhar Babu and MLC Addanki Dayakar also participated. The discussions focused on organisational strengthening and future action plans to organise the Jai Bheem, Jai Bapu, and Jai Samvidhan rallies and other programmes in the state.

Cabinet should discuss implementation of guarantees: BJP
The BJP has demanded the Revanth Reddy Cabinet discuss the implementation of guarantees and promises made in the ruling Congress's manifesto in the Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday. Addressing a press conference at the party office, legislature party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy said it has been 18 months since the Congress government took charge but so far there has been no word on the promises made to farmers, youth, women and students like enhancing financial assistance and stipends. He demanded the government to release money to the farmers under 'Rythu Bharosa', provide for the farm labour and tenant farmers as well as complete the pending ₹9,000 crore due under the loan waiver scheme. The government is not even implementing the PM Fasal Bhima Yojana which will fetch insurance to the farm produce. Similarly, scores of students careers are under jeopardy due to the non-release of fee reimbursement scheme with the college managements refusing to part with the degree certificates, he said. In another press meet, MLA P. Rakesh Reddy wanted the government to focus on the farmers' woes due to the early monsoon and issues in paddy procurement accusing it of concentrating more on the Miss World contest at the cost of other administrative actions. Later at the airport, national leader Abhay Patil claimed that the Modi government has been liberal in sanctioning crores of funds for the State under various schemes and projects, hence it is not fair to criticise the party. Both the BRS regime and now the Congress are guilty of shoddy administration, he charged and advised the latter to pull up its socks for the sake of the welfare of people as well as development of the State.

Ponguleti Promises Homes for All Under Indiramma Scheme
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has assured that all eligible people will receive homes under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. He announced that 4.5 lakh houses are being built in the first phase. On Wednesday, he took part in a program at Satyanarayanapuram in Khammam district, where land documents (pattas) were given to beneficiaries. Ponguleti criticized BRS leaders for spreading false claims about the scheme. He said his government is sincere and committed to helping the poor, unlike the previous government. He shared that the government plans to build 20 lakh houses over the next four years. In the Paleru constituency, he promised to give a house to the eldest son in every eligible family. He added that even though the state's financial situation is difficult, the government is still issuing ration cards. So far, 19 lakh new names have been added. Ponguleti accused the previous KCR-led government of pushing Telangana into debt. He said the state now pays ₹6,500 crore in monthly interest on loans taken earlier. He criticized the past government for spending on luxury buildings instead of helping the poor. He said the focus should have been on public welfare, not political gain.
