Despite heavy rain, devotees celebrate Bahuda Yatra with fervour
Hundreds of devotees in Koraput took part in the rituals of the holy Trinity in Sabar Srikhetra. After completing rituals at the Gundicha temple, the deities were brought out in ceremonial pahandi procession and placed on their respective chariots. Union Education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is on a two-day visit to the district, participated in the festivities. He offered special puja on Lord Jagannath's chariot and pulled Devi Subhadra's chariot along with other devotees.
Koraput MP Saptagiri Ulaka, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, state Higher Education minister Suryabanshi Suraj, Koraput collector V Keerthi Vasan, and SP Rohit Verma, also took part in the festivities.
Meanwhile, in Baripada's Dwitiya Srikhetra, the Suna Besha (or Dwarika Besha) ritual of the holy Trinity was performed at the Mausima temple before the Bahuda Yatra, which will take place on Sunday, a practice distinct from Puri, where it is held after the deities return.
The Trinity was adorned in gold ornaments after rituals like Mangala Aarti, Maha Snana, and Abakasha. Thousands of devotees witnessed the majestic sight at the Mausima temple.
According to servitors Arun Kumar Mishra and Jayanta Tripathy, unlike in Puri, the deities spend the night on their chariots before completing their return to the Haribaldev Jew Temple the next day. Notably, as per tradition, the chariot of Devi Subhadra, will be pulled exclusively by women devotees.
Despite the downpour, the Bahuda Yatra of Lord Baladevjew was conducted in Keonjhar with devotion and discipline. Rituals such as Abakasha and Pahandi were performed on schedule. However, the pulling of the chariot had to be halted due to slippery roads near Balagandi and will resume on Sunday morning.
Similarly, Bahuda Yatra was celebrated amid heavy rains in Angul, Dhenkanal and Talcher districts. In Angul, the chariots started rolling from the Gundicha temple at 4 pm after Chera Pahanra was performed. In Dhenkanal, the chariots were pulled at around 3.30 pm. In Talcher, the chariots started rolling from Gundicha Mandir at 3.30 pm and reached Badadanda Sahi by 7.30 pm.

KV Kanjikode ‘dedicated to nation'
Kendriya Vidyalaya Kanjikode on Tuesday became the sole Central school from Ernakulam region to be 'dedicated to the nation' as part of the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) celebrating the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy, 2020. Kashi turns saffron as devotees throng KVT, other Shiv temples on 3rd Shrawan Somvar
1 2 3 4 5 6 Varanasi: Roads leading to Kashi Vishwanath Dham turned saffron with a massive turnout of kanwariyas who have arrived in the city to offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiv on the third Monday of the Shrawan month. A huge congregation of kanwariyas and pilgrims started reaching the city from Sunday, and by night they had occupied the entire area barricaded for the devotees. The sanctum sanctorum doors of the Kashi Vishwanath temple were opened after the Mangala Aarti in the early hours. The devotees queued up for offering prayers at the temple from Maidagin and Godowlia sides and were welcomed with shower of flowers by district magistrate Satyendra Kumar, the temple's chief executive officer Vishwa Bhushan Mishra, and other officials. The massive influx of the devotees continued at the temple till late afternoon. In the evening there was a slight ease in the crowd and pilgrims did not had to wait very long to offer jalabhishek. They even had the opportunity to witness the Ardhanarishwar Shringar of the deity in the evening. Additional Commissioner of Police (law and order) Shivhari Meena led the officials and forces deployed for crowd management and security arrangements. He inspected areas including Maidagin, Godowlia, Ramapura, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Bulanala, Chowk, Dashashwamedh, and Gate-4 of Kashi Vishwanath Dham to ensure smooth and safe visits and traffic for the pilgrims and kanwariyas. Despite the availability of less space for bathing due to floodwaters, the ghats remained crowded with kanwariyas and other devotees in a large numbers. Extra vigilance was maintained by police and NDRF personnel at the ghats along the river Ganga. The entire temple complex and the ghats were monitored through a CCTV network and drones. Maintaining their years-old tradition, the traders associated with the Vishwanath Gali traders union took out a procession to Kashi Vishwanath temple to offer jalabhishek. The procession, which started from Chittaranjan Park near Dashashwamedh Ghat, was also joined by many dignitaries including Varanasi City South MLA Neelkanth Tiwari. The procession moved amidst the beats of damrus and sound of conch shells. At the beginning of the procession, 11 Vedic priests worshipped the pots filled with water from 84 ghats of Kashi and the same water was offered to Lord Vishwanath. Devotees from Varanasi and neighbouring districts also thronged Markandeya Mahadev temple on the Ganga-Gomati confluence in Kaithi areas in large numbers to offer Jalabhishek. Temples like Mrityunjaya Mahadev, Kriti Visheshwar, Onkaleshwar, Tilbhandeshwar, Kedareshwar, Vishwanatha temple of BHU, and Sarangnath also remained heavily crowded with local devotees.

Long queue of devotees at Lord Shiv temples on third Monday of Shrawan
1 2 Kanpur: Huge rush of devotees was seen at prominent Lord Shiv temples of the city to offer their prayers and perform 'Jalabhishek' on the occasion of third Monday of Shrawan. The devotees took a bath in the Ganga and offered prayers at Shiv temples. Long queue of devotees was seen at Anandeshwar, Siddhanath and Jageshwar temple. At Anandeshwar temple devotees reached after midnight and temple management committee open the doors for devotees after Mangala Aarti around 2 am. Temple management committee apprised that till 9 am around 60,000 devotees visited and offered their prayers. They offered milk, ghee, sandal, flowers, wood apple fruit and leaves and dhatura. The administration had deputed volunteers at the temple. Similar scene was witnessed at Jageshwar temple (Nawabganj) and Siddhanath temple in Jajmau. Bankhandeshwar, Kherapati temple also witnessed surge of devotees throughout the day. Baba Baijnath Dham temple in Patara town also saw huge crowd. Devotees sang bhajans and songs here. It is said that those who offer prayers with devotion, their desires are fulfilled.
