He was addressing the gathering after hoisting the national flag in Yadgir on Friday to mark the 79th Independence Day.
'Mahatma Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Subhashchandra Bose, Jawarlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhabhai Patel, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Bhagatsingh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Raja Venkatappa Naik, and many more sacrificed their lives during the freedom struggle. We, the people living in this country, must remember commitment of our national heroes and their supreme sacrifice in getting independence,' Mr. Darshanapur said.
The five-year plan, a series of national development programmes implemented by the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, has helped to take the country towards a development path, strengthening the poorer section of people, Mr. Darshanapur said, and added that now, the Kalyan Karnataka region is also developing similarly by getting benefits under Article 371(J) and using the grant of ₹5,000 crore for the development of health, education, irrigation, employment and basic infrastructure sectors.
Mr. Darshanapur, who is also the District in-charge Minister, said that newly formed taluks will soon get Prajasoudhas, previously called Mini Vidhanasoudhas, as per the decision taken in the cabinet meeting held in Kalaburagi.
MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur, CMC Chairman Lalita Anapur, Deputy Commissioner Harshal Bhoyar, CEO Lavish Ordia, Superintendent of Police Pruthvik Shankar and others were present.

Bengaluru: Chief minister Siddaramaiah, in his address at the 79th Independence Day celebrations , urged people to raise their voices against the discrimination faced by Karnataka in the distribution of resources from the Centre. The govt had spent Rs 96,000 crore to implement these schemes, the CM claimed, adding several studies had shown women's participation in the workforce increased by 23%. He also lauded the Rs 2,000 Gruha Lakshmi scheme and free bus services for women under the shakti scheme. Giving details of developmental work done in the agricultural sector, Siddaramaiah said a land resource inventory (LRI) was conducted on 10 lakh hectares for the first time in the country and cards with details of soil characteristics, nutrient content, and suitable crops are being distributed to 8 lakh farmers. "By strengthening APMCs, we achieved record arrivals of 164 lakh metric tonnes of agricultural products in 2024-25, a remarkable increase of 447%, which is the highest in the history of Karnataka," said the chief minister. Over the past decade, the state has achieved a growth of 101 per cent in this indicator from Rs 1,01,858 at constant prices in 2013-14 to Rs 2,04,605 in 2024-25. Children ‘perform' national anthem in sign language in Karimnagar
Karimnagar joined the nation in celebrating India's 79th Independence Day in a novel way on Friday. Collector Pamela Satpathy led a group of children with hearing impairment perform national anthem Jana Gana Mana in Indian sign language at the main Independence Day ceremony held at the police parade grounds in Karimnagar. The patriotic-themed event left the audience spellbound, fostering patriotic spirit and spreading the message of national pride and unity. A host of district officials also took part in the event. In an initiative to promote Indian Sign Language (ISL) as a tool for inclusive communication, the district administration recently conducted training sessions in the basics of ISL for district officials.
