Berger Paints Q1 profit down 11 pc to ₹315 cr
The company had posted a net profit of ₹ 354 crore for the April-June period a year ago, according to a regulatory filing from Berger Paints India.
However, revenue from operations was up at ₹ 3,200.76 crore in June quarter as against ₹ 3,091.01 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
The company had a "mid single-digit volume growth", however, it was "moderated by heavier-than expected monsoon in May-June," the company said in an investors' presentation.
Total expenses were at ₹ 2,780.81 crore, up 4.11 per cent in the June quarter. Total income, which includes other income, was at ₹ 3,229.22 crore, up 3.25 per cent year-on-year.
Commenting on the result, Managing Director & CEO Abhijit Roy said early onset of monsoon played spoilsport this quarter.
"We were still able to deliver value growth higher than the listed industry players and continued to improve our market share. The volume value gap this quarter is 3.6 per cent as compared to 7 per cent for the last flscal," it said.
Moreover, the June quarter results include an exceptional loss of ₹ 36.81 crore, arising from a fire incident at a regional distribution centre and warehouse facility in Barasat, Kolkata.
"The fire originated at some other company's premises and unfortunately spread to our warehouse. The loss pertains primarily to damaged inventory and certain fixed assets. The insurance claim filing is in progress, and related assessments are underway," it said.
Shares of Berger Paints India Ltd on Tuesday settled at ₹ 572 apiece on BSE, up 0.41 per cent from the previous close.

Pragmatic manoeuvres
Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi's visit to India, scheduled for next week, is of a piece with the ongoing efforts in Beijing and New Delhi to improve bilateral ties that had gone south after the Galwan clashes in 2020. An early sign of the thaw was the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar yatra in April. Operation Sindoor forced a pause in the movement. But diplomatic activity suggests that both countries are ready to move ahead, especially with the proposed resumption of flights, facilitation of tourist visas for the Chinese, albeit with stringent conditions, and actions to address trade concerns, including market access. The missing piece in all this was the resumption of border talks at the political level. That is set to change with Wang poised to have discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval under the Mechanism of Special Representatives for the border issue — both had met in Beijing in December. The hectic diplomatic calendar also includes PM Narendra Modi's impending visit to Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. The New Delhi-Moscow-Beijing triangle is ridden with strategic contradictions, particularly since Russia has become dependent on China and the latter continues to ignore India's concerns vis-à-vis Pakistan's support for terror and now, nuclear brinkmanship. (PTI Photo) Complementing the China détente are the efforts made by Moscow and New Delhi to refurbish a legacy relationship. External affairs minister S Jaishankar is scheduled to meet Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, and President Vladimir Putin may attend the bilateral summit in India later this year. India-Russia trade, buoyed by Delhi's crude purchases since the start of the Ukraine war, reached a record high of $68.7 billion in FY 2024-25, though Indian exports accounted for only $4.88 billion. The New Delhi-Moscow-Beijing triangle is ridden with strategic contradictions, particularly since Russia has become dependent on China and the latter continues to ignore India's concerns vis-à-vis Pakistan's support for terror and now, nuclear brinkmanship. But the current geopolitical moment is such that all three countries see merit in sidestepping the contradictions and embracing common interests. It is tempting to view India's growing ties with Russia and attempts to balance relations with China as a response to the US recalibrating its stance on Pakistan and the growing dissonance in Washington-New Delhi relations. For sure, Trump's obstinacy on tariffs and claims on Operation Sindoor may have provided an impetus, but New Delhi's pivot is also in line with India's stated resolve to maintain strategic autonomy. It must pursue this path, rather than be bullied by any nation to forgo its national interests and sign on to lopsided trade deals. New Delhi's foreign policy choices need not be viewed through binaries but as an expression of enhancing ties and removing irritants based on its national needs and geopolitical priorities.

IRIS Q1 topline grows 10%, investments ramp up in Regtech business
Navi Mumbai, India – August 14, 2025: IRIS Business Services Limited posted a 10% growth in topline for the first quarter of FY 2026 even as the company geared up to scale its SaaS business in the enterprise technology space. 'Post the divestment of the Taxtech business and with the availability of non-dilutive capital, we are fully focused on taking the necessary steps to grow our Suptech and Regtech business lines, both of which have large and attractive opportunities globally,' said K. Balachandran, CEO of IRIS. 'This is an investment phase in the growth trajectory of the company, especially in our Regtech global SaaS business, where we are investing in building the sales and marketing infrastructure, as well as strengthening our products to meet the demands of enterprise customers in the global market,' he added. The Suptech business of the company continued to perform well as revenues grew at 19% YoY with improved margins. The company also received in Q1 FY2026, in partnership with Accenture, a prestigious award from the Qatar Central Bank to build a digital reporting platform. IRIS' new AI enabled automated XBRL report creation product, IRIS Instant, was rolled out in the Malaysian markets and saw early adoption through a much more simplified and intuitive way of creating digital XBRL reports. 'Going forward, regulators are likely to see tools like IRIS Instant making XBRL creation using AI much easier within their jurisdictions. This in turn should enable newer regulators to more easily adopt digital standards like XBRL,' said Rahul Dhamne, Consulting Head, IRIS iFile. On the Regtech side, IRIS Carbon clocked a 10% growth in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) on a QoQ basis. 'Our new Disclosure Management product has been well received in the market with over two dozen customers using this solution in the international markets, at a significantly higher annual subscription value compared with pure XBRL reporting module,' said Deepta Rangarajan, Co-founder of IRIS. 'Even as we enhance our offering to make it best-in-class, it is heartening to see that our disclosure management solution has been able to establish clear value for the Office of the CFO both in the mid-market segment as well as in the enterprise segment,' said Anuradha RK, Business Head, IRIS Carbon. Vineet Kandoi, Finance Controller at IRIS concluded 'While the first quarter is typically a subdued period for the Regtech business, this quarter's performance was further impacted by the deferral of a few anticipated orders for our automated data flow solution in the BFSI segment. We expect these to materialize in the coming periods. However, our principal focus is on growing the ARR, and we believe we will see that happening with the investments we are currently making.' About IRIS Business Services Limited IRIS Business Services Limited is a Global RegTech company listed on the BSE (Scrip code: 540735) and the NSE (Symbol: IRIS).
