Travis Kelce Reveals Major Challenge in Personal and Professional Life
Travis Kelce can in interviews alternate back-and-forth between being charming and funny and self-effacing…
And smart.
The Kansas City Chiefs superstar was interviewed recently on the 'Bussin' with the Boys' podcast, and he found himself talking about how the most difficult thing about hosting "SNL,'' as he recently did with great comedic success, is what is called the pre-show "table read.''
It's part of the weekly prep, and per reviews of Kelce working as the host for the 14th episode of season 48, it was a "Saturday Night Live'' hit.
And as Kelce gradually shifts from the NFL to the entertainment world - with guidance no doubt from pop icon girlfriend Talyor Swift - he enjoyed the work.
Or, rather, most of it.
'The writers' rooms were fun because you're just getting pitched ideas,'' he said.
But ...
"The table reading, for a guy that can't really read that well, it was kind of a (expletive) situation.' Kelce stated. 'I felt like I was just trying to get through the reading instead of actually acting it out and giving it a voice and giving it a character and things like that.
"I was just focused on, 'Don't (expletive) skip this line.''
As far as fans of the Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Famer are concerned, Kelce seems to be able to master any number of tasks with ease.
But ... is reading really a relative struggle for him?
Even if he's being a bit modest, it's a revelation that might also count as an inspiration for young people who might have their own struggles.
And Kelce is certainly making it work now as he is making a stunningly strong transition into Hollywood the last few years, achieving a role in the FX's series 'Grotesquerie,' and an even bigger and more high-profile 'Happy Gilmore' sequel in which he will play a role with his acting buddy Adam Sandler. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 3, 2025, where it first appeared.

Julie Bowen Thought She Was Passed Over For ‘Happy Gilmore 2' For 1 All-Too-Common Reason
In May 2024, Netflix announced the sequel to the 1996 sports comedy 'Happy Gilmore,' starring Adam Sandler — but Julie Bowen figured her role as Virginia Venit, Happy's love interest, had long since been retired to the clubhouse. 'I heard it was happening and I thought, 'Well, I won't be in it,'' Bowen confessed to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday. She admitted she wasn't bitter about potentially being passed over. After all, it has been 30 years since the original teed off. 'He's got a hottie. He's got some little bitty on the side,' she joked, acknowledging Hollywood's tendency to swap out veterans for younger talent. When the news of the sequel became public, it was Bowen's kids who alerted her to the news before she was 'officially' asked to reprise her role. 'My now-18-year-old said, 'Mom I hear they're doing a sequel and he's with Sydney Sweeney as a cart girl,'' she recalled. Though 'Euphoria' star Sweeney isn't part of the project, Bowen admitted that the thought 'hurt,' but she noted that she would have respected the choice. But Bowen got the news she didn't see coming. 'When I got the call that I was actually in it, I was like, 'Are you sure? Come on!'' she said. In October, Bowen appeared on the daytime talk show 'Sherri,' hosted by Sherri Shepherd, where she expressed her affection for working with Sandler — and shared that producers plan to 'de-age' her for the role, a process she said she was curious to see in action. NFL Network's annual America's Game marathon continues to skip Jon Gruden, Rich Dalrymple episodes
The ice has thawed between the Buccaneers and former coach Jon Gruden, who is back in the team's Ring of Honor. The ice remains solid between the league and Gruden. On America's birthday, NFL Network televises a marathon of the America's Game series. Each episode consists of a one-hour look at every Super Bowl champion — starting with the 1966 Packers and culminating with the 2023 Chiefs. (The newest episode, focusing on the 2024 Eagles, has yet to be released.) As noted by Tyler Dunne of the 58-volume library includes only 56. Two are omitted — and they have been, dating back to 2022. Still gone is the episode devoted to the 2002 Buccaneers (featuring Gruden). He was forced to resign as coach of the Raiders during the 2021 season after emails he'd sent years earlier were leaked from the files of an investigation into the Washington franchise. He has a lawsuit still pending against the league and Commissioner Roger Goodell. Also omitted is the 1995 Cowboys edition, which is narrated by former P.R. chief Rich Dalrymple. He resigned abruptly in 2022. Not long after he made his exit, he was linked to not one but two incidents of alleged voyeurism. Allegations that he secretly recorded the Cowboys' cheerleaders in their locker room reportedly resulted in a $2.4 million settlement. Tune in next year, to see if the 2002 Bucs and 1995 'Boys get left out. Until then, you can watch the Gruden episode here, and the Dalrymple one here.
