New Xiaomi Watch S4 version uses custom Xring T1 chipset - with Xiaomi's first 4G modem
Lei Jun always has something up his sleeve – Xiaomi announced a new version of the Watch S4 and the bold 'XRING INSIDE' should tell you what's new. This model is called the Xiaomi Watch S4 '15th Anniversary Edition' to celebrate the company's 15th birthday.

Interestingly, it is powered by an in-house chip called the Xring T1. By far the most interesting part about this chip – this whole watch, in fact – is that the T1 has a 4G LTE modem that was developed by Xiaomi itself.

Xiaomi claims that it is 35% more efficient than the 4G modem inside the original S4 watch. The new Watch S4 can last up to 9 days with network connectivity (two days longer than the old S4), apparently, and up to 4 days with heavy usage. If you keep the watch connected to your phone, you can get up to 15 days with raise-to-wake or up to 5 days with always-on display.
Xiaomi getting into the modem business is potentially a big deal – admittedly, 4G is easier than 5G, but it's a start.
The body is made of stainless steel like on the regular S4, but the eSIM model also boasts a forged carbon bezel and a Dragon Glass lens (the original uses regular glass). Other than that, you're still getting a 1.43' 466 x 466px display with 1,500 nits peak global brightness.
The new chipset enables an interesting new feature – when controlling the phone's camera remotely, it shows live feed from the camera. It also supports animated wallpaper.
Since Xiaomi is also unveiling its first SUV today, it didn't forget about cars – the watch can remotely unlock Xiaomi cars and even open and close the trunk.

Redmi Pad 2 goes official with 90Hz screen and 9,000mAh battery
Xiaomi's Redmi Pad 2 is the latest addition to the brand's growing tablet lineup. As the name suggests, this is the successor to the entry-level Redmi Pad from 2022. The upgrades between the two are subtle, with the new model getting a higher resolution (2560 x 1600px) IPS LCD, which now comes in at an 11-inch size and a faster 90Hz refresh rate. It's also brighter, cranking out 600 nits max brightness. The other major change is the chipset. While the Pad 2 boasts the newer Helio G100 Ultra – it's basically a repurposed Helio G99, which was used in the previous gen model. This means we should expect similar performance. Redmi Pad 2 is available in Wi-Fi only and cellular trims, with both featuring 4/8GB RAM and 128/256GB onboard storage. You also get a microSD card slot, which can take up to 2TB memory cards. In terms of cameras, you get a 5MP front-facing shooter and an 8MP rear module. The software side is handled by HyperOS 2 based on Android 15, while the battery now comes in at 9,000mAh (1,000 mAh more than the Redmi Pad) and supports 18W charging over USB-C. Redmi Pad 2 comes in Graphite Gray, Mint Green, and Lavender Purple colors. The Wi-Fi only trim starts at £169 for the 4/128GB version and goes up to £219 for the 8/256GB. The version with 4G connectivity starts at £219 for the 4/128GB trim and goes up to £259 for the 8/256GB configuration.

Xiaomi's next compact flagship is better than the Galaxy S25 in almost every way
Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of several flagship products, including a compact smartphone and a foldable. The unannounced Xiaomi 16 made headlines in the past, but it looks like some of the information leaked by various sources was inaccurate. The upcoming Xiaomi 16 is a compact flagship that directly competes with Samsung Galaxy S25 and OnePlus 13s. However, if we are to believe the latest rumors surrounding Xiaomi flagship, the not-yet-released device will be better than the other two in many aspects. The most recent Xiaomi 16 comes from reputable leaker Digital Chat Station who claims that the flagship will feature an even bigger battery than what some of the previous reports suggested. For those unaware, Xiaomi 16 was initially rumored to pack a 6,800 mAh battery, which is already much bigger than Samsung Galaxy S25's (and OnePlus 13s). However, Digital Chat Station now says that Xiaomi managed to include an even larger 7,000 mAh battery inside its upcoming flagship. In comparison, Samsung Galaxy S25 has a 4,000 mAh battery, while the OnePlus 13s drains energy from a bigger 6,260 mAh battery. Based on this information, we have a clear winner here and that's Xiaomi 16. Xiaomi 15 remains a very good flagship one year after launch | Image credit: PhoneArena Another important aspect where Xiaomi 16 seems to be ahead is performance. Rumor has it that Xiaomi's flagship will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, a chipset that the US-based company is expected to unveil sometime in September. In comparison, both Samsung Galaxy S25 and OnePlus 13s are using Qualcomm's most recent flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, although the Galaxy S25 has the overclocked 'Leading Version.' As far as the camera goes, Xiami 16 is rumored to feature a triple 50-megapixel camera, which includes a 1/1.3-inch main sensor and a periscope telephoto lens. The Galaxy S25 has a similar triple camera setup, but uses smaller sensors, whereas the OnePlus 13s comes with a dual-camera. Xiaomi 16 is a better flagship than the Galaxy S25 in almost every way. It might seem strange to say this, but that's pretty normal in this day and age. Technology is moving so fast that launching a flagship in the second half of the year gives you a clear advantage over the other devices that came on the market just six months ago.
