Interacting with the Indian diaspora, Banerjee said, "I represent the Trinamool Congress, a political party. I may have differences with the party in office, but here I am representing India. I will not let my political interests come in the way of my national interests. When it comes to safeguarding the sovereignty and security of the nation, I will stand shoulder to shoulder with my country."
"We were in talks with them (Pakistan) for decades, despite changes in various paradigms and govts.
But one thing remains constant – the conflict with Pakistan," Banerjee said.
"After what happened on April 22, where 26 people were killed at point-blank range solely based on their religion and gender – although I am an MP from the opposition camp – I want the ruling dispensation to engage in dialogue with Pakistan only to discuss reclaiming Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Otherwise, these terror attacks will continue. This is my personal opinion," he added.

Turkish firm Celebi's arbitration application rejected in India
New Delhi: Celebi Ground Handling India's arbitration application for interim measures against Ahmedabad International Airport over the cancellation of security permits has been dismissed, according to an exchange filing by the Turkish firm's parent company. "The arbitration application filed by our company, Celebi Ground Handling India Pvt Ltd, in which our company owns 61 per cent of the capital, against Adani Ahmedabad International Airport Limited in the Ahmedabad Commercial Court on 27.05.2025, seeking interim measures due to the cancellation of security clearances by the Civil Aviation Security Bureau in relation to its operations at Ahmedabad International Airport, was rejected on 02.06.2025," the company stated. The company said it would appeal to the Supreme Court on the issue. The Indian government has revoked the security clearance for Turkish ground-handling firm Celebi Airport Services at Indian airports, in the wake of Turkey's support to Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attacks and Operation Sindoor launched by India to avenge the killings of 26 tourists. In a notification, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said, 'In the exercise of power conferred upon DG, BCAS, the security clearance in Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd is hereby revoked with immediate effect in the interest of National Security.' The Turkish company handles around 70 per cent of the ground operations at Mumbai airport, including passenger services, load control, flight operations, cargo and postal services, warehouses and bridge operations. Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, also stated that there were requests from across India to ban Celebi NAS Airport Services India Ltd. 'Recognising the seriousness of the issue and the call to protect national interests, we have taken cognizance of these requests and Ministry of Civil Aviation has revoked security clearance of the said company. Ensuring the safety and interests of the nation remains our top priority,' the minister posted. Since its entry in 2008, Celebi has expanded its presence in India's aviation sector. As per reports, the firm is partly owned by Sumeyye Erdogan, daughter of Tayyip Erdogan. Sumeyye Erdogan is married to Selcuk Bayraktar, the man who produces Bayraktar military drones, which Pakistan used against India. This suggests that support to Pakistan is not just a matter of Turkish state policy, but one in which Erdogan's own family is directly involved, according to reports.

Man arrested in Punjab on charges of spying for Pakistan during Operation Sindoor
The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested a man from Tarn Taran district for allegedly spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency and leaking sensitive information about Operation Sindoor. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav claimed that the man, identified as Gagandeep Singh, posed 'a threat to national security' after allegedly sharing sensitive details about troop deployments and military locations in lieu of money during India's military strikes on Pakistan. Yadav also alleged that Singh had been in contact with Pakistan-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chawla for the past five years and was introduced to Pakistani intelligence operatives through him. The police recovered a mobile phone containing information that Singh had shared with the Pakistani operatives, along with the contact details of 20 persons linked to Islamabad's intelligence agency, Inter-Services Intelligence, said the director general of police. 'Thorough financial and technical investigations are underway to trace other linkages and establish the full scope of this espionage network,' Yadav said on X, while adding that a first information report had been registered under the Official Secrets Act. Further investigation was underway, Yadav added. PM to inaugurate Chenab rail bridge NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the world's highest railway bridge, built over the Chenab River in Reasi district on June 6. Union minister Jitendra Singh confirmed this on Tuesday. Along with the bridge, the Prime Minister will also launch the Katra-Srinagar Vande Bharat train service. In a post on X, Jitendra Singh wrote: "Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the Chenab Bridge on 6th June... History in the making. Just 3 days to go! The mighty Chenab Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge, stands tall in Jammu and Kashmir..." The Chenab railway bridge, now officially part of the Katra to Sangaldan rail section, stands as the world's highest railway arch bridge. This will be the first-ever train link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. The bridge towers 359 meters above the Chenab River, surpassing even the Eiffel Tower in height. For the first time, Kashmir will be directly linked to the rest of India via rail. This bridge is a key component of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, which spans 272 kilometers and includes 36 tunnels totaling 119 kilometers and nearly 1,000 bridges. The terrain's complexity and the region's seismic sensitivity posed major engineering challenges, but Indian engineers successfully executed this ambitious project, a feat many once deemed impossible. Railway officials highlighted the Chenab Bridge's structural strength, mentioning that it can withstand wind speeds over 250 km/h and was built using about 30,000 metric tons of steel. One foundation, known as S20, is so massive it covers nearly one-third of a football field, specifying the scale and vision behind the structure. The entire USBRL project represents not just engineering excellence but also New India's resolve and determination. With electric engines powered by specially designed overhead equipment (OHE) and advanced tunnel safety systems, the railway line is built for resilience and long-term service. The train service was earlier planned to begin on April 19 but was postponed after cancellation of PM Modi's visit due to bad weather.
