March Madness perfect bracket tracker: Just 76 remain unblemished after 24 games

Yahoo22-03-2025
Mathematically, 0% of entries in Yahoo Sport's Men's Bracket Mayhem remain perfect. In numerical terms, 76 perfect brackets are left after 24 games — including another 12-over-5 upset.
The latest, No. 12 Colorado St. upsetting No. 5 Memphis, dwindled the number from .1% to 0%. Then after Saint Mary's rallied to beat Vanderbilt on Friday afternoon, the number of perfect brackets remaining dropped below 200. Though the Tar Heels' comeback attempt failed, Ole Miss' win over North Carolina then eliminated more than 100 additional entries. That brought the total perfect brackets down to double digits for the first time.
Two No. 12 seeds — the other being No. 12 McNeese over No. 5 Clemson on Thursday — have now moved onto the second round and have taken out a huge swath of brackets.
More than 85% of the entries picked Clemson, and those 85% pretty much knew by halftime of Thursday's game that their brackets were about to bust. The Tigers managed just 13 first-half points, one off the tournament record for fewest points scored in a half. Clemson went on a run late in the second half to make things interesting, but ultimately couldn't overcome the putrid first half, losing 69-67.

Nearly 66% picked picked No. 7 Kansas against No. 10 Arkansas on Thursday, which left about 5% of brackets still perfect after the Razorbacks held on in a back-and-forth affair. More than 58% had Missouri over Drake.
By Friday morning, just .1% remained perfect ... until Colorado State.
Duke is the overwhelming favorite among users, with 31% picking the Blue Devils to win it all, followed by Florida (21.5), Auburn (10.3) and Houston (8.9). The most popular non-No. 1 seed is No. 2 St. John's, with 4.7% picking the Johnnies.

Notre Dame will host the nation's top 2027 overall prospect for a visit this fall

Notre Dame football has an elite offensive line tradition one that puts them among the nation's best, and they've typically done it with lower ranked recruits. Well, that looks like it could be changing, as over the last few cycles the Irish have landed top prospects like Charles Jagusah, Guerby Lambert, and Will Black. All of them were top-100 prospects and while the 2026 class doesn't have a player like that, the 2027 one class could. The No. 1 overall player in the 247Sports Composite is Texas offensive tackle Kennedy Brown, and according to Nate Gravender, he will take at least three visits to see games this fall, one of them being to South Bend. He'll also visit Clemson and Tennessee, and could obviously take others, but it's great news for the Irish that he's already planning a trip. In the recruiting website era, the highest prospect Notre Dame has signed was quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who was the No. 2 overall recruit in the 2007 class. Brown would sit on top of this list if he were the ultimately pick the Irish, and they're off to a great start in his recruitment. Who got it right with Clemson football's preseason ranking: Coaches Poll or AP poll?

NEW: AP Poll Voters' Most Overrated Preseason College Football Teams since 2014 via @Brett_McMurphy😬 Monday's reveal of the preseason AP Top 25 poll produced a few different results from the previous week's US LBM Coaches Poll. While the team at the top remained the same in both polls with the Texas Longhorns at No. 1, there was a different team at No. 2 with Penn State replacing Ohio State for the runner-up spot in the AP poll. The Clemson Tigers got a better ranking from the various sportswriters and broadcasters who make up the AP's poll. Dabo Swinney's team was ranked No. 4 by the media, up two spots from where the 60-plus coaches in the US LBM poll had them. Which poll got it right? USA TODAY Sports college football analyst Blake Toppmeyer pondered that question with regard to eight top 25 teams and their discrepancies from one preseason poll to the other. For Clemson, Toppmeyer believes that AP voters got it right by slotting the Tigers at No. 4. "Clemson finished with four losses last season, but never mind that fading object in the rearview mirror, because Dabo Swinney retained a talented roster that's now more experienced. He even added some polish with a few transfers. Clemson touts the nation's best defensive line, along with arguably the nation's top quarterback, Cade Klubnik. The Tigers aren't just contenders inside the ACC. They're national championship contenders." --USA TODAY Sports' Blake Toppmeyer on Clemson. Earlier this week, CBS Sports argued that even the Tigers' No. 4 ranking was low. There is, of course, a word of caution about getting too carried away by preseason rankings, regardless of your poll of choice. The 2024 Florida State Seminoles were the toast of the ACC entering last season after going 13-0 to win the league in 2023, only to flop right out of the gate after a preseason top 10 ranking to finish 2-10. It's not just Mike Norvell's 2024 'Noles, either. USC, Oklahoma, Auburn and Texas A&M are just a few of the more frequent disappointments from the past 10 years of preseason poll rankings, as On3's Brett McMurphy recently posited. Twice in the past four years, Clemson's own preseason rankings have yielded some fairly disappointing results by season's end. The Tigers were ranked No. 9 entering the 2023 season but stumbled in a rare four-loss season to No. 20 in the final Coaches Poll. After checking in at No. 2 entering 2021, Clemson landed at No. 16 in the final poll. Conversely, it was 10 years ago this season when the Tigers ranked outside the preseason top 10, only to finish as runner-up to Alabama after falling just one or two plays short against Nick Saban's 2015 Crimson Tide in the national championship game in Glendale, Arizona. When it comes to preseason polls, things are seldom an exact science.
