"Inspired me to join armed forces, break the taboos": NCC cadet on Op Sindoor
New Delhi [India], May 28 (ANI): NCC Senior Under Officer Nadira Khan on Wednesday shared her experience of participating in Operation Sindoor, a national-level exercise that simulated real-life scenarios.
The cadets also conducted mock drills, showcasing their skills and preparedness. She was participating in national student pledge ceremony, 'Yuva Shakti, Bharat Ki Shakti,' held at Jamia Hamdard University, where NCC cadets participated in various activities to promote national unity and patriotism.
Nadira Khan expressed her inspiration to join the armed forces, breaking taboos and stereotypes.
'Operation Sindoor meant a lot to us. We also conducted mock drills and organised a Tiranga Yatra rally near the National War Memorial... It has inspired me to join the armed forces, to break the taboos and stereotypes...,' said Nadira Khan.
A youth-pledge event titled 'Yuva Shakti, Bharat Ki Shakti National Student Pledge' programme was held in five cities, including Delhi, Srinagar, Bengaluru, Itanagar and Ahmedabad on Wednesday led by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) where students took pledge for an united India.
In Itanagar it was held at the Himalayan University. In Delhi the event was held at Jamia Hamdard University.
Nadira Khan further said that lot of activities are carried out at the NCC like National Integration camps where interaction is held with people from other states and learn about their culture.
Pro-Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Professor Himani Sood, said, 'I took a pledge with all the students of Jamia Hamdard and the women who stood behind Operation Sindoor like a rock, stood behind the vision of PM Narendra Modi of keeping India together, and stood behind the nation's valour. This is a lesson for our neighbour that India is united. There is no divide in the name of religion, colour, or caste.'
'Yuva Shakti, Bharat Ki Shakti National Student Pledge' program was also held at at the University of Kashmir.
A student, Ayesha in Srinagar said, 'We took a pledge for unity here and we are thankful for it. We want our country to progress and we are absolutely against terrorism. A message of unity has been given from here. We want the world to know that Kashmir does not stand with terrorism.'
Another student from Srinagar Shaqoor said that he really liked this program.
'We always want tourism and not terrorism in the country. We want to promote brotherhood and ensure that the country always progresses...We do not want any conflict in the country.,' he added.
Earlier Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched the 'Tiranga Yatra' on May 13 to May 23. The yatra aimed to honour the valour of Indian soldiers and inform citizens about Operation Sindoor's recent success.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. As part of the operation, Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. INDIA bloc writes to PM demanding special session of Parliament
New Delhi, June 3 (UNI) Leaders of the INDI Alliance met here on Tuesday to press for a special session of Parliament to discuss a 'sequence of events' — from the 'Pahalgam incident to Operation Sindoor and the ceasefire'. Leaders from 16 Opposition parties attended the meeting, including senior Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Deepender Singh Hooda, Trinamool Congress leader Derek O Brien, Ramgopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. Later briefing the media, DereK O Brien said the 16 parties have written a letter to the Prime Minister seeking a special session of Parliament. 'The letter basically talks about Poonch, Uri, Rajouri and having a free discussion in the Parliament,' the TMC leader said. He further added, 'The government is responsible to Parliament, Parliament is responsible to the people so it natural for all these parties, since the government is answerable to Parliament, that is why the session to the Parliament is responsible to the people'. On Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) not being a party of the meeting, the TMC leader said, 'Our understanding is that the AAP is writing directly to the PM tomorrow'. Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said that there are several issues which are "worrisome". Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav said, "On the diplomatic front, the Prime Minister has been visiting numerous countries and meeting many leaders over the past several years. However, his so-called friend, Mr Trump, announced the ceasefire, which is a matter of concern." He further added, "India, being the world's largest democracy, must not appear to be forced into taking such actions. This warrants a discussion in Parliament, and we are demanding a special session to address it." Deepender Singh Hooda said that a special session of Parliament must be called so that from Pahalgam to Operation Sindoor to America's announcement of the ceasefire could be discussed. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut stated, "The letter sent to the Prime Minister is not an ordinary one. We represent the main Opposition and are the voice of the people. Considering the recent development, a special session of Parliament should be convened. It will uphold the country's dignity and ensure transparency for the public." Raut further questioned, "If a ceasefire can be declared at the behest of President Trump, then why can't a special session of Parliament be called at the request of the Opposition? 'Asim Munir spewed venom against Hindus weeks before Pahalgam attack': CDS Gen Chauhan exposes Pakistani army chief
NEW DELHI: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan on Tuesday exposed Pakistani army chief General Asim Munir's communally charged statements against India and Hindus in weeks leading up to the Pahalgam terror attack . "Pakistani army chief Gen Asim Munir spewed venom against India and Hindus just weeks before what happened in Pahalgam," he said. Talking about Pakistan's policy of supporting terrorism, he said, "Our adversary's approach is to bleed India by a thousand cuts". Munir had stirred controversy by invoking the two-nation theory—the ideological basis of Pakistan's formation—urging citizens to instill in their children a sense of distinction from Hindus. He further intensified rhetoric by describing Kashmir as Pakistan's "jugular vein." Days after Pahalgam terror attack, a similar statement was made by Munir when he said, "The two-nation theory was based on the fundamental belief that Muslims and Hindus are two separate nations, not one. Muslims are distinct from Hindus in all aspects of life – religion, customs, traditions, thinking and aspirations." Pahalgam terror attack took place on April 22 in which 26 people were killed. The incident led to the launch of Operation Sindoor, in which, the armed forces targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
