Farmer killed in water buffalo attack, Oklahoma police say
Bradley McMichael, a farmer in the small town of Jones suffered deep lacerations in the attack Friday night, Jones Police Chief Bryan Farrington said in a statement. The animals were so aggressive that first responders couldn't get to the victim at first, he said.
One water buffalo was euthanized immediately and the other was put down after it became increasingly agitated and threatening, Farrington said.
Police say they believe McMichael had purchased the two animals a day earlier and became trapped inside in an enclosure while he was tending to them.
McMichael's former wife, Amy Smith, said caring for livestock was his passion.
'The cattle farming, that's his thing,' Smith told television station KFOR. "He's been here his whole life, and he's done that his whole life.
'So he's an experienced cattle handler and a farmer.'
Although water buffalo are not commonly raised in the U.S., they are known for their milk production and lean cuts of beef, according to the Arkansas Farm Bureau.

Chen allegedly conned a 63-year-old woman out of $42,000 and arranged to obtain nearly $100,000 more in Potsdam, New York. He found agents from Homeland Security Investigations and ICE Enforcement Removal Operations instead of the victim when he went to meet, authorities said. Yan, whom ICE dubbed a "scam artist and illegal alien," allegedly tried to swindle an elderly Wyoming County couple for $20,000 -- their life savings. Both are being held without bond pending removal. "This HSI Massena investigation underscores HSI's commitment to disrupting and dismantling transnational criminal organizations and groups intent on exploiting our vulnerable communities," said HSI Buffalo Special Agent in Charge Erin Keegan. "We will never stand idly by while bad actors – in this case, illegally present Chinese nationals – target innocent New Yorkers for their own selfish gain," A third Chinese suspect, Hui Chen, was arrested on similar charges in October 2024 and is in custody pending deportation, authorities said. Border officials told Fox News last year that the fastest growing group of illegal migrants crossing the southern border was coming from China. Since taking office in January, President Donald Trump has led a massive removal campaign targeting criminal aliens across the country.

Inside were multiple jump drives that 'contained watermarked music, some unreleased music, footage plans for the show, and past and future set list (sic),' the report said. Also missing were an Apple MacBook, headphones and several items of luxury clothing. Police investigated an area where the MacBook and headphones had pinged their location, but the report did not mention any items being recovered. Atlanta Police said in an online statement that a warrant had been issued for an unnamed suspect's arrest but that the suspect remained at large. Rick Singer allowed to return to college consulting business after infamous 'Varsity Blues' scandal
Rick Singer, the 64-year-old man at the center of the "Varsity Blues" college admissions scandal was allowed to return to his old job by a federal judge, but must disclose his criminal past to potential clients. Singer's new coaching company ID Future Stars, which is focused on college consulting, says it provides "comprehensive life coaching and college admissions guidance with a hands-on approach that discovers how we can best help your child achieve their dreams," according to its website. Chief District Judge Denise Casper wrote in a Monday order that Singer must provide a specific, lengthy and detailed notice to parents seeking to retain him. "In March 2019, Rick Singer pled guilty to federal charges-including racketeering conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy, conspiracy to defraud the United States, and obstruction of justice-for his role in what was widely-publicized as the 'Varsity Blues' college admissions scheme," the court ordered statement says. "Specifically, Mr. Singer admitted to,among other things: bribing standardized test proctors and administrators to engage in cheating on college entrance exams (i.e., the SAT and ACT); falsifying students' academic transcripts by paying third parties to take classes in their names; falsifying students' college applications with fake awards, athletic activities, and fabricated essays; and bribing college athletic coaches and administrators, through purported donations to their programs and personal bribes, to designate students as athletic recruits based on falsified athletic credentials. As part of the scheme, Mr. Singer took in more than $25 million from his clients, from which he made payments to co-conspirators totaling more than $7 million, and transferred, spent, or otherwise used more than $15 million for his own benefit." The statement ordered by the judge did not end there. "On January 4, 2023, a federal court in Boston sentenced Mr. Singer to 42 months in prison and three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay more than $10 million in restitution and to forfeit assets totaling more than $8.7 million. The U.S. Department of Justices press release announcing Mr. Singers sentence can be found at: Mr. Singer served his prison sentence and is currently on supervised release. The terms of Mr. Singer's supervised release require him to provide this disclosure," it continued. Singer was found guilty in a bribery scheme where he helped celebrities, business people and wealthy clients get their kids into elite schools. He was sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison in 2023. Prosecutors said Singer received over $25 million from clients and paid bribes which amounted to over $7 million. Singer also used over $15 million of money from clients for his own personal advantage, prosecutors also said. "Full House" actor Lori Laughlin, her husband Mossimo Giannulli and "Desperate Housewives" actor Felicity Huffman were also handed prison time for their participation in the scandal.
