Honey Boo Boo risks new feud with Mama June as she talks about mother's drug past
Alana ' Honey Boo Boo ' Thompson is risking reigniting her feud with her mother Mama June, as she opens up about her tumultuous childhood.
The star was only five years old when she found fame on Toddlers & Tiaras with her now famous: 'A dollar made me holler, honey boo boo!'
The joke catapulted her into an upbringing in front of the camera and she soon had her own show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and then Mama June: From Hot To Not was released.
Mama June's show was rebranded Family Crisis after the leading lady spiralled into an addiction to crack cocaine, sparking a furious rift with her children that played out publicly in headlines and on television.
June eventually recovered and her relationship with Alana is mostly mended - though they can still be seen on reality TV fighting about Alana's child star earnings, $30,000 of which June has confessed to spending on herself.
Now Alana, 19, is giving all the details on her upbringing in a new Lifetime biopic called I Was Honey Boo Boo.
In the lead up to the show the star has already candidly revealed to People that she did not mince her words when discussing her mother.
Alana said: 'I did not want this movie to be throwing punches at my mama and making her out to be the bad guy.
'But I didn't hold back and if she gets mad, at the end of the day it's the truth.'
One of the flashpoints of their checkered relationship was June's drug problem, which Alana began noticing in her early teens.
Alana said: 'I noticed something was off about her. She started locking her doors which really made me think: "Oh, what is she doing?"'
The issue was brought to public attention when June and her husband Geno Doak were arrested and charged with felony drug possession.
Alana, who was being raised by her older sister Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efyrd and brother-in-law Josh Efyrd, had to go to school and face comments like: 'I saw your mama on the news with a busted tooth, strung out,' to which she would reply: 'Great, like I didn't see that too.'
June eventually got sober and is now married to Justin Stroud, whom she met in rehab in 2021 while getting her addiction under control.
However the tensions between the mother-daughter duo did not end there, as they have bitterly clashed over the child star's earnings.
June has admitted to spending $30,000 of her daughter's money on herself, and has also neglected to contribute to Alana's college fund.
June previously explained that she used Alana's Dancing With The Stars: Juniors income for her own bills and for manicures.
Now Alana says that June eventually gave the money back, although 'there was no: "I'm sorry".'
Alana continues to maintain that she has received no financial windfall from her star turn on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
She candidly acknowledged that she found it 'hard' to forgive her mother for their turbulent past but eventually managed to rebuild their relationship.
The star said: 'At the end of the day, she's my mom. When she was bad in her addiction I just kept thinking about the day she'd recover. We're going pretty good. Hopefully it lasts. I just no longer have any expectations for her.'
Meanwhile speaking about her own turbulent path, June said: 'I don't remember who that person was, because I've worked so much on myself.'

One of Bill Belichick 's closest allies is reportedly 'deeply concerned' about Jordon Hudson's involvement in the UNC football program. Hudson, Belichick's 24-year-old girlfriend who has firmly embedded herself in his professional life, was reportedly banned from UNC's football facilities - as Pablo Torre claimed last month. UNC refuted Torre's report, though said Hudson would 'continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick's personal brand' outside of the school.
