For the second year in a row, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves in a standoff with one of their core pieces regarding a new contract. As things between Micah Parsons and the organization continue to escalate, one analyst did not hold back on his thoughts on Jerry Jones' approach.
This ordeal stretches back months when Parsons first approached the Cowboys about an extension off of his rookie deal. The two sides seemed to be close to an agreement, which led to the star linebacker getting his agent involved. Since then, things have gone completely off the rails and become a worst-case scenario for Dallas.
Parsons has remained a professional and stayed around the team in some capacity, but recently made his frustrations very public. In a long post on social media last week, he gave his thoughts on this ordeal while also telling the world he's requested a trade from the Cowboys.

Nick Wright gives his thoughts on Jerry Jones' discussions with Micah Parsons
In his jaw-dropping post, Parsons talked about Jones wanting to discuss his contract without his agent present. This led to many people giving their thoughts on the longtime owner's tactics.
Among those who did not hold back when discussing Jones was FS1's Nick Wright. He dove into the situation on a recent episode of First Things First, dubbing his practices unethical.
"Jerry feels like they had an agreement and he wants to stick to it. And I think that is an unethical way to do business," Wright said. "What I do not think is right is if a player does not think we are going to be talking about numbers and a contract. And then it comes up and he engages, to then be like alright, shook on it, you and I said deal's a deal. That is not Micah's expertise."

Despite Parsons asking for a trade, it doesn't look like he'll be playing for a team that isn't the Cowboys anytime soon. Following his social media post, Jones gave his thoughts on the latest developments. He still expects the two sides to work things out, dismissing any notion that Dallas plans on honoring Parsons' request.
As the Cowboys get ready to begin their preseason schedule, they have to deal with this very public back-and-forth hanging over their heads.

There Are 4 NFL Stars Holding Out At Training Camp For New Contracts

There Are 4 NFL Stars Holding Out At Training Camp For New Contracts originally appeared on The Spun. With the NFL regular season exactly a month away, there are currently four superstars holding out for new contracts. Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons is undoubtedly the biggest name holding out this summer. Initially, fans assumed he'd receive a deal that would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. However, things took a wild turn last Friday when he officially requested a trade. "Yes I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboys and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America's team once again. The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. Unfortunately, I no longer want to be here," Parsons wrote in a statement shared on social media. "I no longer want to be held to close door negotiations without my agent present. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me." Parsons isn't the only pass rusher seeking a lucrative deal this offseason. Trey Hendrickson has been wanting an extension from the Cincinnati bengals for months. Although he hasn't attended several practices for the Bengals, he refuses to actually participate until he signs a new deal. "There are plans on not having to play on the current deal," Hendrickson said last Friday. "That's something we have a common goal to get to. That's the plan moving forward. No distractions. I am excited to be here." Moving over to the offensive side of the football, the Washington Commanders are trying to keep their best playmaker happy. After failing to secure a new deal, Terry McLaurin requested a trade from the Commanders. He made it clear that he wants to get paid "what guys of my caliber are deserving of." McLaurin had instant chemistry with Jayden Daniels last season, hauling in 82 passes for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Commanders would be wise to keep him around. The fourth and final holdout involves Buffalo Bills running back James Cook. He has made it clear that he wants a raise before touching the field this season. "Just business," Cook said when asked about his holdout. "It ain't no side. It's just business." Bills general manager Brandon Beane told reporters he's "hopeful" that Cook will remain a member of the team for at least the next two years. "Sometimes you can't get on the same page, or sometimes you're trying to fit it in," Beane said. "There's times guys have left here that we really wanted. We just couldn't make it work. But I can tell you, I'm hopeful when we're sitting here at next year's training camp that James Cook is out there practicing and still representing the red, white and blue." 'Fearless' - Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Makes Bold Move After Requesting Trade

'Fearless' - Cowboys Star Micah Parsons Makes Bold Move After Requesting Trade originally appeared on The Spun. Micah Parsons shocked the NFL world this past Friday when he requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys. Most fans assumed Parsons would receive a massive contract extension from the Cowboys without any hesitation. After all, he's been the heart and soul of their defense since going pro in 2021. Despite his consistent production, he hasn't received a deal that he considers fair to him and his agent. To make matters worse, the front office has taken a few jabs at him. Parsons, who is set to play the 2025 season on the final year of his rookie deal, has officially reached his breaking point with the Cowboys. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me." Even though Parsons has requested a trade, he's not going to disappear from Dallas completely. On Saturday afternoon, Parsons showed up to practice and walked right near Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones. "The stomach of this man," Cowboys reporter Jane Slater wrote. "He's fearless." It certainly looks like Parsons is trying to send a message to the front office in Dallas. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has already tried to pour cold water on Parsons' trade request. "I think the world of Micah. That's just the part of negotiation. I don't really place that with any seriousness," Jones said. "I wouldn't be standing here with you if I didn't think we potentially had a great future with Micah. We're in good shape. This is negotiation. But make no mistake about it, life has to go on if something happens to me or anybody else. Life does go on. ... I would say to our fans, don't lose any sleep over this." Will Parsons fire back at Jones or will he continue to quietly watch training camp from the sideline? Micah Parsons Makes 'Bizarre' Practice Decision After Trade Request

Micah Parsons Makes 'Bizarre' Practice Decision After Trade Request originally appeared on The Spun. Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons has been dominating the headlines at training camp because of his contract situation. Parsons is entering the final year of his rookie deal with the Cowboys. Last Friday, he shocked the NFL world by publicly requesting a trade. He released a lengthy statement on social media about how he didn't really appreciate the way the front office handled their negotiations. "I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this America's team once again," Parsons wrote. "The team my pops and I grew up cheering for way up in Harrisburg, PA. I no longer want shots taken at me for getting injured while laying it on the line for the organization, our fans and my teammates. I no longer want narratives created and spread to the media about me." Despite expressing his frustration with the Cowboys, the All-Pro pass rusher continues to attend training camp. He's just not participating in any drills yet. Earlier this Monday, Parsons turned heads when he showed up to practice in his Cowboys jersey. Most people believe this is his way of showing the front office that he wants to remain in Dallas. NFL fans believe this is a foolish move by Parsons. They're convinced it'll give the front office some much-needed leverage. "Bro gonna get paid. It's all part of the show," one person said after seeing Parsons in uniform. "Just some hype for the media, it's a done deal he will be with us this season," a second person wrote. "It's all forced theater," another fan declared. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has already said that he's not worried about Parsons' trade request. Life does go on. ... I would say to our fans, don't lose any sleep over this." After seeing Parsons in his No. 11 jersey this Monday, it's hard to envision him leaving "America's Team" anytime Parsons Makes 'Bizarre' Practice Decision After Trade Request first appeared on The Spun on Aug 4, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 4, 2025, where it first appeared.
