Matt Damon's next film has already SOLD OUT for opening weekend... and it doesn't even come out until 2026

Daily Mail18-07-2025
Matt Damon 's upcoming epic The Odyssey has sparked a 'black market' with movie tickets being resold for hundreds of dollars above its retail value, even though the release date is still a year away.
With increase in demand to see the movie during opening weekend in 2026, scalpers have been listing the tickets and attempting to resell movie tickets for shocking sticker prices.
Now, scalpers are selling movie tickets for upwards of $200 to $300 per ticket, with bid prices going over a whopping $700, even though the film still in the midst of production.
Just earlier this week, Damon was seen shooting scenes in Scotland with Tom Holland and Zendaya.
In the United States, almost all tickets for screenings in IMAX 70mm film sold out within an hour of going live at midnight, repping about a total of $1.5 million in sales, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Since then, fans have been sharing reports of tickets being resold on eBay and other sites between $300 and $400 — and reportedly even going up to $1400 for a group of four tandem seats — compared to an average retail price between $25 and $28, a source told the outlet.
With one Dallas screening ticket appeared at 400% above its retail value and another listing reportedly offered two seats to a July 19 screening for $399, there were also reportedly four AMC Lincoln Square tickets that opened bidding at $1,000, per fan reports on social media.
On social media, fans started joking that the ticket situation had sparked a 'black market' to sell and buy seats for opening weekend of the highly anticipated film.
In reaction to seeing the resell prices, an X user tweeted disappointedly: 'on top of this odyssey imax thing being an annoying idea in general now we have a black market for movie tickets.'
Another fan tweeted a side-by-side comparison of a man before and after having aged due to stress and time, writing that was 'how it felt trying to get an imax ticket for the odyssey.'
'Still can't believe someone spent $1000 on 4 tickets for the odyssey on ebay,' another person wrote in shock.
Another person added: 'Someone on eBay wanted $1400 for four tickets to The Odyssey in 70MM IMAX lol go f*** yourself.'
'Me watching The Odyssey in row A at Lincoln Square AMC next July because tickets sold out in 30 seconds,' another added alongside a warped view of the movie screen, angled from the very first row.
'Christopher Nolan making The Odyssey an immersive experience by making us wait an entire year after buying our tickets like we are Odysseus spending 10 years trying to find his son,' one X user joked.

The Damon- led and Christopher Nolan-directed epic, inspired by Homer's epic, is set to premiere in theaters nationwide in 12 more months.
The film stars Damon as Odysseus and Holland as Odysseus' son Telemachus.
The classic story from ancient Greek literature follows the king of Ithaca as he undertakes a long and perilous journey home to his wife after the end of the Trojan War.
His challenges are many as he spends many years encountering a succession of mythical beings, including the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, the enchantress Circe and travels to the Underworld.
The all-star cast also includes Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Cherlize Theron, Jon Bernthal and Mia Goth.
Ticket pre-sales for The Odyssey were accompanied by the release of a minute-long, first look trailer that played ahead of screenings for Jurassic World Rebirth and Superman.
Nolan preferred to keep the teaser off the internet in order to preserve the cinematic experience of his new film.
The Odyssey opens in theaters on July 17, 2026.

On The Road: Pele, Tiger and Tutties Neuk... memories are made of this as the past and present collide at Falkirk

The theme for this week's meanderings is memory. It takes us to Arbroath and back, it wends though the decades of football, it can be accompanied by a jukebox and includes a reflection of what it was like to play against Edson Arantes do Nascimento, or as he was better known. These adventures were all chronicled in a couple of hours spent at Falkirk Stadium. That, ladies and gentlemen, is Scottish fitba' for you.

Sir Keir should not emulate Hugh Grant

His feet had barely touched British soil before Donald Trump started swinging his big stick. 'You better get your act together or you're not going to have Europe anymore,' he lambasted his Western allies after arriving in Scotland to visit his golf courses (not for the 47th president, concerns about second jobs). 'You've got to stop this horrible invasion that is happening to Europe, many countries in Europe… this immigration is killing Europe.' Setting aside the rights and wrongs of British immigration policy, our beleaguered Prime Minister would be forgiven for feeling a little peeved. What other American president would have presumed to blend personal and state business so brazenly and deliver such insulting rhetoric into the bargain? Amid social unrest in Epping, Reform on the march and small boats arrivals up by a staggering 50 per cent, immigration is Sir Keir's Achilles' heel. With his approval ratings at rock bottom, the last thing he needed was a punishment beating from Trump. Certainly, Sir Keir's backbenchers will be begging him to stand up to the Donald, if only to appease their voters in places like Ashton-under-Lyne, where many may be tempted by the Corbyn-Sultana cult or a Gaza Independent at the next election. Did Sir Sadiq Khan recommend that the Prime Minister reprise the 20ft Trump 'baby blimp' that he authorised to be flown above Parliament during the presidential visit of 2018? I wouldn't be surprised. And he wouldn't have been the only one. In the Left-wing mind, the 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually looms disproportionately large. This is for the sake of one scene alone. In it, Hugh Grant – whom most progressives, particularly those of a Liberal Democrat persuasion, wish was the prime minister in real life – upbraids the American president at a press conference. 'I fear that this has become a bad relationship; a relationship based on the president taking exactly what he wants and casually ignoring all those things that really matter to Britain,' Grant lectures his opposite number, played by Billy Bob Thornton. 'We may be a small country, but we're a great one, too… and a friend who bullies us is no longer a friend. And since bullies only respond to strength, from now onward I will be prepared to be much stronger. And the president should be prepared for that.' Forgive me for quoting that Richard Curtis idiocy at such length. But that is precisely what Guardianista-in-chief Polly Toynbee did in a petulant little column before Sir Keir's visit to the White House in February, under the screaming headline: 'Starmer has the backing of Britons to stand up to Trumpism.' I rest my case. But does he? When it comes to immigration, the opposite would appear to be the case. Although 55 per cent of Labour voters want the numbers to stay the same or go up, polls show that most of the population wishes them very much reduced, with 32 per cent viewing immigration as a 'bad' or 'very bad' thing. Small boats get people's backs up even more. For all his braggadocio and swagger, the sorry truth is that on this issue, Donald Trump speaks for a greater number of Britons than our own prime minister. For this reason, Sir Keir would be best advised to tell his backbenchers to pipe down. Trump's big stick has caused the PM enough pain already. Tweaking the orange tail might play well to certain parts of the gallery but after a year of economic mismanagement, we are hardly able to withstand the tariffs with which Trump would surely retaliate. Whatever Hugh Grant may think.

Ex-Turnberry worker recreates entire estate on Roblox

During President Trump's visit, his Turnberry golf resort in Ayrshire is closed to the public. However, there is one way in which people may be able to get a glimpse inside. A former maintenance worker at Donald Trump's hotel has painstakingly recreated the entire estate online using the Roblox gaming platform. From the intricate coving on the ballroom ceiling to the detailed pattern of the hallway carpet, Alistair Kidd, 42, has spent more than 2,000 hours building the estate online. Kidd, who previously worked for the British Army, spent six years working at the Trump estate and began recreating it after teaching himself how to use Roblox so he could help his children with their own projects. • John Swinney attacked over taxpayers' support for Trump golf course He said: 'Everyone that I've shown it to were extremely interested and impressed with the detail, including former employees recognising back-of-house areas and commenting on the accuracy. 'I wouldn't be able to guess that. I know there are a lot of games and experiences that mock Trump, but mine is purely to focus on the building and leave behind any of the politics.' Despite spending more than three years of his free time on what he has described as a 'personal project', he still has work to do to complete each of the 106 bedrooms and the course's famous lighthouse. 'The ballroom is my pride and joy,' he said. 'No detail spared. Every dado, skirting and coving is, as best I can, exact to the real thing, hence the time it's taking.' • Anyone for (virtual) tennis? Wimbledon's drive to woo Gen Z Trump bought the Ayrshire resort in 2014 and carried out an extensive renovation with the ambition of making it 'the finest and most luxurious hotel in all of Europe'. For the online version of Trump's Ayrshire resort, there has only been one roadblock for its creator: the platform has not allowed him to mention the president as it contravenes its policy on political campaigning. 'I tried to upload an image of the painting that was displayed in the DJT Boardroom but it got flagged and my account was locked out for 24 hours for 'supporting current political candidates'. 'Basically, anything relating to Trump was flagged and not allowed, hence I'm not allowed to name it Trump Turnberry Hotel, as it's called.' Kidd has positive memories of working for Trump. • Scotland doesn't want Trump — until you're near his golf course He said: 'I met him a couple of times, first when the hotel and course was bought and then on his first term visit. I met [his son] Eric more than others as he had a very active role in the renovation being as it fell under him. 'Every time any of the Trumps were there in my time, they always went out of their way to greet and talk with staff and guests and keep any disruption to a minimum.' He added: 'I take nothing to do with politics, especially another country. As a man, he was sincerely pleasant and friendly in all of our interactions.' • Turnberry locals on Trump: We love 'Big Donald' and his $50 tips At the last check there had only been 117 visitors to the online version of Turnberry, mostly friends and family of Kidd. Would he like Donald Trump to see it? 'I would love for him and Eric to see my project,' he said. 'I don't think they have much time to play Roblox. 'But I think they would appreciate the effort that has gone into the detail and accuracy, especially seeing as he chose most of the interior designs himself.'
